Metroid Prime Federation Force Announced (Next Level, 3DS, 4 Player, Mission Based)

It's amazing how a Samus amiibo was the last true Metroid product they released since Other M. Priorities.

This is not even close to the Metroid game I wanted but hey, it's Next Level Games. It's going to be a solid package, so I'm looking forward to it.

I can't believe they aren't working on a Wii U game though. That stings.

Really I'm bothered about Nintendo's ridiculous IP usage. The game might totally be fun and I'll pick it up if there's good feedback on it.

But calling it "Metroid Prime"? Really? Why is Nintendo close to deficient when it comes to naming things? I always know that their games will be: "Brand You Know of: Stupid Gimmick Subtitle".

-Metroid Prime: Federation Force
-Animal Crossing: Stupid Party Game
-Star Fox Zero
-Zelda: Triforce Heroes
-Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam

It's quite bad.

Seriously.

They've shown with Splatoon that people will be receptive to a new IP as long as you put thought and work into it. Why the fuck should you slap an IP on an otherwise completely unrelated franchise. At the very least if you're going to do that, make it mario. We expect that.

What are you talking about? This is just a cheap little side game farmed out to one of their smaller partners. They have done this many times with many of their franchises.

If this was anything close to representing the mainline Metroid series, Samus would be in it front and centre. This is just another Prime Pinball/Four Swords/DK Jungle Climber to fill out the schedule while either Retro or SPD work on the main game. Miyamoto already told us they are working on multiple Metroid concepts last year.

I wouldn't call Next Level Games a small partner for them. The problem is this doesn't look anything like Metroid, and not just in terms of gameplay. The chibi-fied art style just isn't what Metroid is about. I think they saw the sales of Other M and said 'we have to completely change direction on this' and low and behold, this is what we have here, which is even farther from what people want from the series.

And in terms of concepts, this is probably one of them.

This is a weird complaint...?? You don't like subtitles I am guessing?

It's more about how their brand and develop games. They seem highly resistant to just making "Metroid 5" or "Starfox 3". They always seem to need some kind of weird gimmick that detracts from the core game and then name it after said gimmick.

I'm happy this isn't NST. Luigi's Mansion 2 was great, so I'm looking forward to this as Next Level Game's next title, rather than as a new Metroid game.

You people were down on Code Name Steam on first footage and it turned out fucking fantastic

I don't trust the internet to act appropriately to 3D 3DS games anymore

You're in a minority who think Codename steam was anything better than just OK.

It's ok to like them, but that doesn't make a 7/10 game (that's the metacritic/gamerankings average at any rate) anything more than an OK game. It tanked in sales (as far as I'm aware) because nobody wanted that game.

The same will probably happen here.

Would be cool if they were working on Donkey Kong as their swan song for the Wii U along with a more ambitious title for the next system.

no way. after today's new game announcements for wii u I'm convinced NX is the next console and it'll be out holiday 2016 alongside Zelda.

they're not wasting any more major resources on Wii U. We'll get a Mario Tennis, and maybe some other low/mid tier games like that in 2016, but that's it.

I'm laughing so much.

But I'm laughing cause I'm so so pissed.

It might in the future grab my attention same way Mario maker recently did, but right now I'm so done.

What a fucking disgusting comment.
"I hope this game bombs so the company struggles and get laid off!"
lol yeah that's exactly what I said. I want it to bomb so they know reducing one of their best franchises to this shit isn't acceptable.

Umm, the general opinion rather is that Codename Steam turned out average at best.

Yeahhhh. If we could go ahead and not use Metarcritic to measure a games quality, that'd be greaaaat.

I don't understand why they slapped Metroid on the title when if could have at least been a new IP, Splatoon shows people can be receptive to it if the work is put in. This doesn't share anything with the Metroid Prime series.

Yeah, Mario Tennis really reeks of "shit,we're out of platformers, what else can we do that costs nothing".

That's fine. What about the fact tha tI thought it was terrible? Or that no-one seemed to buy it because it's, as far as anyone has been lead to believe, utterly mediocre?

Lord knows the demo confirmed I have no interest in it at all. They could have made another advance wars instead of that, but nope.

In fact, this is exactly what codename steam looked like before release. A game no-one asked for from a dev that could probably have been spending the time they had on makin ga much better game that could have been something people were actually asking for. We could have had Punch Out or Luigis mansion U from these guys. Instead, we get a metroid abomination.
