I agree with all that. They should definitely close it
Disagree. The more money it makes on KS, the more money Sony is likely to invest in the project. Again, the KS is there only to judge interest. More money, more interest, bigger and better game.
I agree with all that. They should definitely close it
So you're asking for the cancellation of a campaign you never put a cent in?Of course not. I don't contribute to any kickstarter
I can't even tell if you're trying to insult me or not.
#cancelshenemue
Its Shenmue 3 i'll take it. I just wish the kickstarter thing was more transparent
I guess it's because it's the Dreamcast 2What? Shenmue did not start on Xbox. Wtf.
Sony should remaster the first two games in 1080p/60fps, put them on PSN and say all profits made from the sale of the games will go directly into development of Shenmue III.
However, can somebody explain the complaints over the use of Kickstarter?
Well there goes any hope for an Xbox version. Shame really since that's where the game started out.
Really not a fan of this approach.
So you care about this because...?
A deal that's only triggered if the KS is funded, meaning Sony couldn't confirm or deny the deal at the time of the conference.
So you're asking for the cancellation of a campaign you never put a cent in?
I don't know about other backers, but I'd rather you stopped speaking for me.
I was happy with the premise of the KS when I chose to pledge this morning and I'm still happy with it. If anything, it sounds much more viable now than twelve hours ago.
Complain away.
We still get Shenmue 3.
Wouldn't TLG be considered a risk?
PC version will be so goood!
SHENMUE 3, I still can't believe it!
spend less?.The more games are sold at 29$ the less are at 59$.So in fact they spend more.Cancel the kickstarter.
But Sony also wants the money from the people so they can spend less. Money that they possess as of this very moment themselves to use.
This practice just rubs me the wrong way entirely - I think it's the first time a Kickstarter has been created with the developers KNOWING they have direct financial support from a multinational corporation?
Adam Boyes: "We have nothing to do with this!!!"
Shady.
Such a shame too, I love Shenmue and Yu Suzuki.
Gio Corsi quote:
"Absolutely. First off, Shenmue III was the number one ask on the whole #BuildingTheList campaign, so when that first started, right off the bat, 'Shenmue III, Shenmue III, Shenmue III.' So this has been an ask for as long as I've been at PlayStation. And we met with Suzuki-san at GDC last year and we started the long road to try and figure out how we were going to get this whole thing made.
"We said, 'the only way this is going to happen is if fans speak up,' and we thought Kickstarter was the perfect place to do this. So we set a goal for $2 million and if the fans come in and back it, then absolutely, we're going to make this a reality. So, Sony and PlayStation are definitely a partner in this game, and it's going to be run through Third Party Productions with Ys Net. We're going to get the game done. We're going to be partners the whole way, and we're really excited to see this thing come out in a couple of years."
:lol that's a nice way to spin it. There's interest, the goal has been met, why not stop it now and just open a pre-order page? Because they want the free money whales give themShenmue is a well known financial failure. They needed to know if their was enough interest so they wouldn't get burned.
Well there goes any hope for an Xbox version. Shame really since that's where the game started out.
Yeah, no. It's kind of on Sony.
I felt genuinely sorry for the poor old guy when they brought him on stage to do his "Brother, can you spare a dime" thing.
Well there goes any hope for an Xbox version. Shame really since that's where the game started out.
Sony / Sega: "Thanks for the free focus test / development cost discount."
*proceed to tape their dicks up in $100 bills*

I'm so happy this isn't coming to the other console. Like I said many times before, the more PlayStation 4 exclusives, the better.
Kinda shitty of them not to admit there was some sort of connection up front, but that's the world we live in...
The Sony guy never used the word funding in that video, he only said they'd help out with third party productions. It wasn't made clear what exactly what sony will help with.
What door is this going to open? Is it going to make more developers of dead franchises try to get funded by giving the game in return for backing it? If so the fans of those games will happily pay the money for it? if they feel like this is one of the few chances they have.
Or do people think publishers are going to ask for 5 million dollars to get Assasin's Creed or Elder Scroll's funded? Because I don't expect those games to ever get near their goals. Is it taking a lot of responsibility from Sony, because I was under the impression these games cost tens of millions to make and around 3 million doesn't seem to take any significant burden of of Sony.
