Horizon: Zero Dawn Trailer (Guerrilla, post-apocalyptic pre-historic adventure)

Go read up about Killzone 2 and the first 'in-game' trailer, maybe.

Stop It!!!

^ Good to read. I haven't really kept up with the Killzone franchise after 2 and/or (Sony) conferences/presentations, so good to hear it's pretty much a thing of the past for Sony/Guerilla. Can hardly wait to duke it out, be it solo or co-op, in Horizon's world. Watching that shot of the group climbing the mountains make me want to hike :)

Stop It!!!]

If you stop recycling gifs ;)

See, I wish there were more devs making new, interesting looking IPs. Not that I'm not excited for stuff like UC4 and Mass Effect though.

Props to GG for showing gameplay already for a game that is coming out in the later part in 2016. Which makes me doubt other developers who are less far from launch then GG and still only show a CGI trailer (Armature).

I bet the "ancient ones" the people who went missing are the ones controlling the robots
I doubt they're being controlled by anyone. I think they're just a part of nature now. What we'll be discovering is their history, how they relate to the collapse of humanity, and just what exactly they are.

2016 is a loooooong way off. The wait's going to be painfull.

On a side note I know they aren't planning MP, but could it be that they want to add it post-launch? IMO this game screams for a complete co-op play through.

The Killzone Universe's AI eventually takes over everything and kills off all of the 'ancient ones.'

You eventually discover this through an epic quest.

yessss

I don't think they've been more specific than just 2016, but I'm willing to bet it'll be one of Sony's big games in the run up to Christmas.

thank you!
so, so far, Uncharted should be Q1 2016, while the other exclusive games announced are foreseen for a generic 2016. is that right?
(don't read any critic in my words, I'm planning the purchase of my PS4 for next year: I'm trying to figure out if planning it for early 2016 or for late 2016)

Someone has to tell guerilla to drop the subtitle. It is completely unneeded.

Not if they follow this with darker middle chapter called Horizon 2: Infinite Dusk. Followed by highly unsatisfying final chapter in the trilogy called Horizon 3: Dawn Again. And who can forget Vita 2 dancing game spin-off called Horizon: Boogie from Dusk till Dawn.

This game is going to start with Einstein's quote, I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but world War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

I`m ok if they add it on the sequel.

IIRC from what i understand there are multiple tribes across the world, and you can help them out or they can turn against you if you do something that hurts them. Not sure if there's a big human antagonist behind everything or something though.

I think there's definitely going to a point in the story where the humans will eventually figure out a way control the dinosaurs completely, ultimately leading to the subjugation of one another through force. I don't think something like that will develop until a sequel, however. (I'm hoping.) I think Guerrilla is smart enough to steer the narrative away from clichés when it comes to developments like that.

Can someone point to a source that says that the lead writer of New Vegas and Witcher 3 quest designers are working on this? Awesome if true but want to confirm

if that happens, Aloy would probably sides with the machines. on one hand, it'd be kind of cliche. but on the other hand, imagine Aloy working together with machines and charging enemies while riding giant mech dinosaurs... I kinda want that to happen.

thank you!

I would guess it goes something like this:

Uncharted 4 - Q1 (March, I'd guess)
Ratchet & Clank - Q2 (probably May, alongside the film)
The Last Guardian - Q2/Q3 (I'd expect they'll launch it during a relatively quiet time of year, like July or August)
Horizon - Q3 (September or October I reckon)
Gran Turismo 7 - Q4 (November or December)
Dreams - I think they'll spend a long time perfecting this and it may well be a 2017 release
God of War IV/Reboot - March 2017 I'm betting

When this came up on the stage I couldn't give a fuck about it because I was still in shock and tears from TLG. But looking at it now, holy shit, this looks pretty damn amazing.

Glad that GG got to do something that looks promising and unique in its own way, I mean I like KZ but this looks 100x more interesting to me.

The only thing I don't get is the arrow seems to be an average arrow (i.e wood) and the whole bow and arrow thing against the machinery is quite the juxtaposition I don't like. How can an arrow affect machinery like that? Nothing I've seen of the bow and arrow makes it seem effective vs the machinery that is shown. Otherwise it all looks awesome, I just don't understand the bow and arrow thing, seems quite emphasised to me also. I'm probably just reading into it too much though. It's the very thing that was apparent to me because of how contrasting it is.

lol what is this

Are you forgetting the fact that the main character is human? This game, being an open-world RPG, will obviously have some sort of hunting element in it. Not all the wildlife in this game is a robot. Furthermore, she utilizes multiple types of arrows, and her bow certainly doesn't look like a conventionally modified bow. I'm sure there's some lore-based augmentation going on there.

thank you, really appreciated
now stop with the OT: can't wait for Horizon! :D

Did you spot our little Horizon Zero Dawn easter egg in Killzone Shadow Fall?

50 - 60lb compound bows can easily put an arrow through a steel door. The frame of her bow looks wood but everything else is modified with some higher tech. Plus, like others have mentioned, she has different tips on her arrows so it's not really that far fetched.

pretty much all of Sony studios learn a hard lesson for it. do they even use cg trailer anymore, other than that Bloodborne announcement trailer.

God of War Ascension had a CGI teaser trailer first of all. Not sure about GoWIII, but more recently Shadow of the Beast and Wattam both had CGI reveals. Thinking back though for the most part I think you're right that most new Sony games are revealed with gameplay footage.

Seen this posted a few times and it's a neat teaser, but that hologram creature actually looks more like one of the bugs out of Helldivers than a dinosaur!

Not all robot creatures are 'dinosaurs'. There's robo deers, that 'watcher robo' (that got stabbed in the beginning) and a giant robo eagle in the demo too.

We also saw live salmon in the trailer which leads me to believe there are non robo creatures in the game outside of humans

Hey GAF!

Mark Norris, Senior Producer on Horizon Zero Dawn here. I just wanted to say thanks so much for the kind words from many of you on the thread here so far, and that some of your questions (but definitely not all!) will be answered over the course of the next couple days.

One thing I can confirm for you is that every single shot in the demo video was taken from in-game, and those locations are discoverable over the course of your journey.

I'll let you get back to the regularly scheduled speculation :)

hey man,

don't forget photomode in day 1. :)
