Type 0 is the only FF game that got a mature rating as far as I know.
I don't see them gunning for that label slapped on VII. But I would like the cussing to remain that's part of Cid's charm lol he's a grumpy asshole who curses like a sailor.

My favorite thing about Cid is that he's supposedly only 32 years old, but he's written like he's in his 60s.

I'm willing to bet that the suicide rate across the world will see a noticeable decline due to the announcement of this game.

I'm fully convinced that I'll never have these kinds of feels for any other game as long as I live.

I know I'm being stupid optimistic when I say this but I hope they announce a release date this winter...my body is ready.

I can't recall if FF7 had alcohol but I'm pretty sure it did.

I think the Turks were drinking in one part of the game?

You have to get the dress maker to stop drinking his ass off in the bar, before he'll make Cloud a pretty dress.

And Tifa serves Cloud a drink in her bar. :)

I think it's interesting that Toriyama wasn't listed as being involved with the game.

I dread and fear what he'd do to the story and dialogue just as much as the next guy. (If he had free reign). But if he really did the Wall Market scenario, I think he still needs to be there in a controlled manner.

I was thinking something while listening to FFVII's OST, especially Opening Theme - Bombing Mission

At the time, we were controlling an ex-mercenary, working for a terrorist organisation, planning to bomb a critical power plant in a densely populated area.

That kind of opening scene would be mindblowingly controversial today ha ha.

Hmm yea. I wonder if using terms like mercenary and freedom-fighter instead of terrorist would be enough to keep that whole intro intact.

It's made pretty clear that AVALANCHE is more of a rebellion, labeled as terrorists by the corrupt company running the entire city and probably responsible for the deaths of far more people than what the bomb might cause.
They respond by dropping the ceiling on an entire sect of innocent people in an attempt to crush the rebellion, that would probably quell any real controversial concerns.

Freedom fighter would be the best term to use these days. A lot has changed since the original so they are gonna have to change how things are worded when it comes to Avalanche.

Overall I think they can do it and keep the core elements in tact.

edit sees post above. Well that shouldn't be too hard at all.

I mean... Is it REALLY that controversial in a post-MW2 world? I don't think so.

We had a game where you play as Terrorists starting a war by murdering an airport of civilians in first-person. It broke sales records.

I think FF7's opening scene is fine.

Yes. I was blindly loyal to Nintendo back then. But I was still in high school and didn't know better. After the N64 I stopped supporting Nintendo entirely. Haven't looked back since.
Same exact thing here. I was touting Mischief makers as a system seller....yeah
I loved my N64 but I didn't wish it had the voice and video I had seen on PSX.

One day, my best friend tells me to come over and puts in Soul Reaver. That was it; I got a playstation as soon as I could.

Well damn. Ok we have nothing to worry about.

Lol good lord yea, I guess it should be OK then.

Plus you're bombing an energy reactor, not directly trying to kill civilians.

AVALANCHE is less like terrorists and more like extremist PETA members.

But i though HD towns were hard? Regardless I am stoked!! FF7 is still the only Final Fantasy that I have played to conclusion.

HD towns are very hard. I never understood this. Create some houses and walls in a confined space and you have your HD towns.

They were probably hard in FFXIII because it was a corridor game and most resources were spent on that fucking engine. But The Witcher et al manage just fine.

Th main concerns is if the honeybee inn scene can be called "homophobic" or the domestic abuse is "triggering" and using retard as a slur is "bigoted"

I'm fine with plenty of non voiced dialog in non cutscene format if it means easier integration of all the quirky stuff and slurs.

That's definitely a good workaround.

thats the only reason people wanted a remake.

same game, with massively enhanced visuals. Better translation perhaps and some fixes here and there. But a full on new game? We have gotten multiple new games from FFVII universe. We never wanted that. We never asked for that.

I just wanted Final Fantasy VII: 2015 version.

So yeah im with him. Hype has died down, but will leave complete fail for when they actually show the new game. We'll see.

as long as they keep the core of the game im happy.
But i don't want an 1: 1 Remake
This game wasn't perfetct by any means even tough its my most loved one.
They have the chance to dimish those problems and enhance their true vision with todays technology

Would it be that bad if Vincent has a bigger Role in the Remake instead of beeing an optional Character?
Would it bet that bad if we get new side-story and quests?
Would it be that bad if they rewrite some scenes that were extremely corny or would look ridicolous on an HD Game?

Square Enix knows how high the expectations are....We won't get a completely different game...but we have to accept that there will be some major differences

Same.

It worked for me in FF14. Though I would like a lot more voicework than that, but the same concept could work. Voices for main scenes but text only for others. I wonder how the more mainstream audience would feel though

Can the whole game just take place in a giant open Midgard? That would be great.
Considering 80% of the game happens outside of Midgar, it wouldn't be great at all.

No Cosmo Canyon, no North Corel, no Junon, no Wutai, no thanks.

Also no Costa Del Sol

I thought it was interesting that Squaresoft released two separate PC demos for FF7 back in the 90s, and neither one took place in Midgar. One was just a battle arena demo from the Golden Saucer, but the other was the pathway to North Corel, which I thought was kind of surprising. That part is like a good 10 hours into the game.

It's probably just because it's the first part of the game they could self-contain and not have any significant story spoilers. :P

I wonder how likely a volleyball mini game with Tifa and Aerith being added is.

Choose that preference in tannage wisely.

It would be bad if jokes were removed.

It would be bad if Red XIII did not wear human clothing.

It would be bad if Honeybee Inn was changed in the slightest

Yeah, kind of. I prefer the FF7 Vincent level since he helped flesh out the Turks and the background and how sadistic Hojo is, but it wasn't super mandatory. I enjoy subtle stuff and not thrusting Vincent into a bigger role. In the end, the game is about Cloud :x

I just hope they keep Tifa and Scarlet's bitchslapping contest.

When I first played the game I was a bit disappointed by how most other places were tiny villages compared to Midgar's scale, but then I realized that not only do you only get to see a very small part of Midgar anyway, from a gameplay perspective the entirety of the places in Midgar that you *do* visit are basically several very small, individual towns themselves, connected by various dungeons, like the Sector 6 streets, the sewers, etc.

I do hope we get to explore much more of the city in Remake though.

My expectation of this scene is that it will be reduced from a minigame to a cutscene and the amount of slapping will be massively reduced to maybe just 1 or 2 slaps.

I mean, in the original they really go at it for a while... Would be awkward to watch in HD, haha.

If it makes it into the game at all. I hope it does, even if it is a cutscene like you say.

Kya ha ha!

Yeah, Tobacco and alcohol is a sign of MA in modern times.

It's not T related stuff any more.

Time to bring back the old "Cafes". 7th Heaven Cafe... serving coffee and soda pop!

I think we are past the whole, "Too hard" mentality. Square showed us that making large areas in FFXV, be it explorable outdoors environment or a large city like Lestallum ARE possible. Hell, not-Square, but look at Uncharted 4's car chase gameplay. That's all one LARGE ass city made of MANY buildings. It's possible.

would be amazing, I want this scene 1:1 port
