Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
Shit. How did Valve forget? If we act quickly enough they might be able to throw one on the back somewhere.Anyone bothered this doesn't have a D-Pad!?

So, if we can use the steam controller as a KB+M in windows, then we can use it also for playing BF4 in Origin?
Do some research. It basically has one.

Well, the Super Meat Boy creator thought the haptic feedpack plus "little nubs on the controller" should be enough to simulate a D-Pad. And that was with an early prototype.Fantastic! A combo of sarcasm and belittlement!
Anyway, from glancing at the Steam controller hands-on impression, I've figured that the general idea is that GAF is too hip for D-pads in 2015 and that the haptic d-pad is more that enough! Thanks guys! Fantastic discussion!
It's literally the first thing discussed about the controller in basically every thread on it for the past two years.Fantastic! A combo of sarcasm and belittlement!
This is a fantastic name for the Steam Controller! Why haven't Valve themselves named it like that?Hardware page now states 15% stock left, if anyone is on the fence about pre-ordering. The 15% presumably covers both Steamrollers and Link.
So they got LIMITED stock for the controller?Hardware page now states 15% stock left, if anyone is on the fence about pre-ordering. The 15% presumably covers both Steamrollers and Link.
Preordered mine. I'm a couch PC gamer, and I currently use a DS4 which works great, but I can't wait to be able to properly play titles like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Pillars of Eternity, FEAR, Cities: Skylines, This War of Mine, Diablo 3, Starcraft II, ANNO 2205, etc..
Lol. Well, you can still pre-order, but instead of getting them in October, it'll be November.
Gonna buy one and use it exclusively on gog. 😴
So how do you all think this will be for FPS games?
I am very hopeful as I dont like playing FPS games on PC because m/kb is superior. Do you think this will make it a little bit more even matched online FPS with some practice?
I ordered mine when it said 1%. Hope it still ships in October.

I think it'll be better than a standard controller, but with games like CSGO and upcoming arena shooters (e.g. Unreal) it still won't really make you competitive except at a low level with games that have skill based matchmaking.
Games with console fps mechanics (e.g. Battlefield, Titanfall, CoD, etc) - I think it should be good for - although I think you can remain quite competitive on PC even with a standard controller on those types of games.
When you go to https://store.steampowered.com/account/store_transactions - and then click on 'View Shipment Details' on the Steam Controller purchase entry - you should see if you're getting the November or October batch.
connects with a 2.4GHz dongle that supports two at once, and each controller can remember multiple dongles to make for easy pairing.
Yeah, at this point that's the only real ding against it.Aww man is that a convex stick? /barf
can you hadoken on it ?

I have really stubby thumbs and prefer concave sticks.
Yep i noticed that too.On a positive note, it has the same textured ring with ridges around the edge of the stick that the Xbox One controller uses (which the DualShock 4 does not use).
Ahhh. Cool cool.I tend to rest my thumb on the side of the stick, as opposed to on top of it, so that ring is more important than whether it is convex/concave.
I tried something similar, but the 360 stick was a little too big for the PS3 pad.I ended up swapping the sticks on my DualShock 4 with Xbox One sticks for this very reason. My thumb kept sliding off the surface in Bloodborne.
Spotted this a blog post on Reddit with impressions and details of the Controller

Seem to be quite a positive write up; the controller itself has shaped up very well, but right now without a community behind it to help with providing strong bindings, it can require a lot of fiddling to find good solutions for some games thanks to the large amount of customisation and no real guidance.
