The thirst is real: a Destiny TTK quest is exclusive to Red Bull (Until Jan 1, 2016)

Shit gets worse everyday. Nearest 711 is about 30 mins away. Currently on a diet and trying to stay away from all that crap food and beverages.
Bungie and acti, get it together!

So is this available to new users who buy the collectors edition only? If so, that would a double slap to the face of existing users. I highly doubt that's the case but Activision's fingerprints are all over this. Young people and millennials can see right through boardroom bs, and this wreaks of boardroom scheming bs to the fullest.

No. Not even sure how that conclusion was crossed.

Yea. Shit like this is why I'm gaming less and less. Anymore it's getting harder to get a complete fucking game. Instead you get a piece of the game then either you jump through hoops to get all the content, have to preorder 50 places, or buy season passes, or god forbid do shit like this. I'm sick and tired of this shit.

A-fucking-men.

They're not wrong though, up until now every single DLC controversy regarding Destiny has frequently been met with "I have the money, I don't care, I'm buying it". Of course Activision is going to take that attitude into consideration and see how far they can go with it.

That Fucking gif

Too early in the day to see something like that lol

The way Destiny was designed, they did not want me to play very long. I hit 20, realized the poor quality of the game, and quit. So as an outsider this shit is just silly to me

pretty sure you will have a serious health issue if you drink redbull

Fixed

Bungie and Activision deserve all the hate for the way they treat their fanbase.

Haha, hope you current Destiny players live near a 7-Eleven. An exclusive Red Bull can only at a specific retailer? Nice.

I was fine with it until i saw it was a 7-11 exclusive. I don't think there is a 7-11 within 500 miles

Ok. i was wrong. I live in Raleigh, and there are 7-11's in Charlotte. Great, Now its only a 2 and a half hour drive to get content for my video game.

I'm just annoyed I apparently have to find a 7-11. I think the closest one to me is about 40 minutes away. So my red-bull tie in will include fuel costs.

I also bought the mountain dew for halo. I'm sadly the market for this crap.

Destiny is like gaming's worst practices smashed together to create the ultimate shitstain on the face of the industry. Shame too, because I love the actual gunplay.

I get the outrage I really do. At the same time it's fucking video games. Red bull, Doritos, Mt Dew.. Pre order bullshit. Plastic phone pip boys and statues It's all ridiculous.

There is new drama every week surrounding something. It gets tiring.

I guess what I'm saying is red bull gives you wings!

Everything about destiny is a dumpster fire lately. Bad calls, all around

Everything? The DLC looks great and for non destiny players they can jump in at a great price. The current outrage is over three dance moves that the collectors edition gets, then the response from an over sarcastic dev with really no PR training.

That's even worse. Seriously 7-11 exclusive too? WTF!?!?!?!

So someone in my case would have to drive 20 minutes away to another town just to buy a fucking can. Seriously!?!?!?! My jaw is on the floor at this point. I just...I just can't....wow...wow.

"destiny consumers are used to paying a premium for downloadable content similar to this quest"

they super don't give a fuck

I hope you guys never see any business deals and contracts for any other video game stuff. They don't think highly of you. You are $$ to them. Especially to publishers

I just wonder at what point it's really Activision.

Just FYI, now that I'm working in corporate offices for a major brand I've seen exactly how this stuff comes around. Basically suits far removed from the actual creative process talk to other suits, in one of any number of aimless meetings they do to keep their jobs. They agree to marketing promotions without ever talking to the people who do any of the work, then the people actually doing the work step in and carry that burden to uphold the relationship between the suits' companies.

Bungie went along with it because it's part of their publishing agreement, but I guarantee you no one there said "You know, we should partner with Red Bull" because it just screams clueless marketing department. Anyone making a game already has too much work to get done, and I'm sure would rather focus on the game.

I don't know why they would ever put that in writing, it's ridiculous.

20 minutes to drive to the next town and Hope they actually have the exclusive cans.

Poor Bungie, must regret that Activision deal at least a little bit, no?

Obligatory

Gat damn Activision

I really wish people would accept that Bungie isn't some poor group who is forced to do these things. They left MS because they wanted MORE control. This is them with more control. I'm sure Activision is suggesting many things to them, but there's been nothing to suggest that Bungie regrets any of this.

Haha haha, sorry, I love Destiny but I don't drink that motor oil tasting crap

unless it gives me a hawk moon

Then I'll buy it for the code and give the drinks to the homeless

Yea that's the worst part. You wouldn't be guaranteed a can. You'd have to hope that they are carrying it and have it in stock too. So you might end up making multiple trips.

I love how some people think Activision is solely to blame here. Bungie knew what they were getting themselves into and have more control than your typical developer since they own the IP.

Marketing speak continues to be hollow and offputting. Comarketing deals aren't new especially in the AAA FPS space, but it's always good to see the raw pitch behind it with all the slimy phrases intact for perspective - "repeat purchase," "brand traits," "used to paying a premium."

In this case I'm pretty sure that Activision would be the ones to blame, since as the publisher they'd handle all the marketing deals and tie-ins and have done this a million times before with Call of Duty and Mountain Dew.
