Bungie apologizes for Taken King controversy, CE items to be sold separate

ehnhnh, not exactly.

We know for sure there's a raid. We know there is a new campaign. We know that if you buy Red Bull, you get what sounds like a single additional mission. It says "multi-stage," but that's probably just "you go fight in this room, then you go fight in that room."

We know that they're still working out the details, but hoping to add abilities to all class items.

We know that they apparently have no idea how to handle old and new weapons, despite the obvious answer being "just upgrade stuff like you did last time."

We know there are three new subclasses.

The number of strikes iirc was gonna be 4. I think they were adding 6 MP maps.

A bungie video said we'd have "new patrols," but most people are expecting just one patrol. A leak indicated at least one mission on Saturn, which probably means not-actually-saturn, while the previews indicated one on either Phobos or Deimos.

Vesta Dynasty still hasn't been added to the game, frustratingly. Not sure if the Fate of All Fools can be looted or not.

The new enemy types, the Taken, feature the same silhouettes as previous Destiny characters but behave differently (that's... not good game design, imo).

The missions MAY all take place in discrete locations. They appear to function like short versions of Halo missions, based on previews.

There's a new playstation-exclusive gun. It's a scout rifle called the Jade Rabbit. Also: exclusive PS armor sets, exclusive strike (echo chamber, recycled sekrion strike), exclusive MP map (Sector 618, Earth, set inside the wall).

No word on what happened to the multiplayer map. I think it was called Black Shield. Was in a leak from a while ago. Looked like it was coming with Widow's Court but didn't.

There's a lot we know.

I'm not sure if the Dreadnaught is the new patrol or if it's just the new raid location.

Dreadnought is the new zone / planet in Taken King. With patrol, raid, strike and campaign stuff.

I imagine they're saving actual planets for Destiny 2 next year.

It's both. Luke said in an interview last week that the Dreadnaught has the new raid, a patrol, and at least one strike. Probably a mission or two on there too.

I find the hypocrisy quite humorous actually. If one were to read some of the venom and vitriol being hurled in here without background on the situation, you might think Bungie had not only announced that the collector's content purchase had already been charged to stored credit cards, but that they were also randomly deleting level 34 characters for shits and giggles.

All this anger over optional DLC, which includes three exotic class items that are conveniently left out of the rants, seems more than a bit silly.
You're claiming there is hypocrisy going on here. But have you actually pinpointed a single person being hypocritical? You can't just point out the fact that some other shitty practices seems to fly with people. There's no point in pointing out shitty practices unless you can point out that the people poo-pooing Bungie are okay with those practices.

Now it's up to you Destiny players. If you think that some shaders and emotes are worth $20, buy this. But never complain about expensive Destiny stuff ever again.

$20 for some shaders and emotes. The same price as the two story DLC packs.

For some shaders and emotes.

Jesus H Christ Bungie. What the fuck is wrong with you guys and gals there? Seriously this is even worse. So now you are trying to sell content that should be 5 bucks max for 20 dollars extra?

You know screw it. Just screw it. The Bungie I loved all these years is obviously no more. This is such bullshit it's not even funny now.

Guess they can make an update to this video.

"Seriously those idiots would buy a turd if I shat it out right now" LOL
Seriously though at this point I can't even get angry at Bungie. People keep giving them money, I see the gamers being part of the problem too.
I really hope everyone sticks to their word and really not buy TTK. I really want to play the expansion but If I buy it then I am part of the problem too.

"I'm really tired of being called names on the internet so here's what you want nerds, buy it up and go fuck yourselves. Oh sorry, you know how sarcastic I can be."

If it wasn't for RL friends and DGAF I would throw Destiny away and never return....fucking Luke and Deej and fake ass apologies lined with money. Gotta save that job somehow. Ridiculous.

Nah love this line in specific.

In developing The Taken King, one of our goals has been to celebrate you and your triumphs. E3 was a place to reveal the new adventures we hope to send you on, but our conversations there didn’t do justice to our plans to honor your legacy.

Don’t take it from me. Here are some words from Luke Smith

Honestly this whole update doesn't feel like an apology to the players as much as it is Bungie saying "we're sorry we didn't think to make these items available for purchase. Please give us more money, suckers."

£20 for some stupid shaders and emblems is atrocious.

Locking players out of content, even just trivial content, after they've just paid you $40 for an expansion, seems quite sad to me.

So there relessing a seperate physical edition? With all the fluff like that strange coin with just the taken king?

As for the comments in here, some people are never happy and some of you possibly had no interest what so ever aside from moaning.

The price is high but I don't care about the CE items so it's all whatever to me.

People that are into that stuff (and judging by the sheer volume of the player base, there are MANY) will pay the price regardless. The cycle continues.

Fuck Bungie. I hope everything they make in the future will bomb. More paid DLC yeaah...seriously fuck them.

Yeah, I hope the few hundred employees of a game dev lose their jobs because they charged too much for cosmetics. That's definitely logical thinking.

Well this fixes... ehhh nothing! 20 USD for expansion and all the other crap would have been ok. Not good but ok. This is just ridiculous.

"We're sorry. Please pay $20 to accept our apology."

fuck video games

For real, what the fuck kind of solution is that? "were sorry, please spend 40 quid on TTK and an additional 20 on some garbage emotes and shaders"??
Fuck Destiny. Most ridiculously overpriced game ive seen in recent times, if this is part of their grand 10 year plan for Destiny, they may want to rethink it a tad cause its looking like 10 years of nickel and diming

So can you buy a used copy of the disc and just get the Taken King without the rest of the DLC? That's all I want to know.

Absolutely not. You have to have the first two ecpansions for TTK. So you might as well get that $60 bundle they have. It would probably work out better for you doing it that way.

Damn, to see your descent away from Bungie starting from the alpha and then to this fiasco is kind of depressing.

You know someone at Bungie is pulling out their hair screaming "WHAT DO THEY WANT?! I DON'T UNDERSTAND WE APOLOGIZED AND FIXED IT".
