Now that the government allows everyone to get married im one step closer to getting me a second wife.

To do so is only stalling the inevitable. It actively harms gay couples. And, maybe more gravely, it's acting in violation of the United States Constitution. There's a reason almost every other state has allowed for gay couples to marry even if their governor is personally opposed.

Don't get me wrong , I'm in full agreement with everything you said.

Of course they're stalling, we all know their religious views trump the law.
 
Jesus christ at that 5-4 split. 50 years from now, no one's realistically going to care or even particularly believe that state's right horseshit from Roberts. They're just gonna see the crusty, bigoted fucks that opposed a basic right for a discriminated group.

You would think these people would know better.
 
I'm not gay and I believe in God yet I'm really happy for you guys and gals today. I know my brother is happy though marriage is far from his mind right now. It's God's place to judge people, not ours. We should just be happy for our fellow man and treat them like everyone else.

I don't pay attention to American laws but did some states not already legalise gay marriage last year? It is nice this law has passed throughout the country but it sure did take a long time, I've never ever understood why people have had problems with gay marriage or anything like that. The last time I was in New York I could not believe the insults being thrown at my friend because he was gay, I can understand the old bitties saying it but fucking hell hearing youngsters spout that shit had me worried.

MSNBC and Fox are not remotely the same.
I hate both, but MSNBC despite its pro-democtratic establishment leanings does not remotely compare to the agenda driven propaganda bullshit that Fox pushes. Fox deliberately and frequently reports lies and skewed misleading facts as news.

Also, Fox does cater to old right-wingers. MSNBC does not cater to young progressives. Just look at the ratings. Progressives and liberals are not really watching mainstream TV news. MSNBC has recently been trying to fix this by mistakenly going more right wing (see morning Joe) instead of actually reporting the news honestly including criticizing the democratic establishment (which is what progressives actually want).

So yeah Abbot's "directive" is mostly useless at this point. Counties with the major metro cities in Texas are pretty liberal so I don't see this "directive" having much of an impact regarding issuing marriage licenses.

The problem is a lot of Texas is very rural, and very conservative. If the governor lets them play fast and lose with the ruling until the feds crack down on him, it puts a lot of couples out of luck, as the nearest county seat, where you could get a license, could be pretty damn far away, provided you even live near one that would issue you one and not play the discrimination game as well.
