Also surprised there isn't a GAF thread on this considering so many people made threads on the EVO entrant numbers. I thought the Smash fans would have a go at it because of Melee preference over Smash 4.

I don't touch GAF Smash threads, they're really tough to go through. Smashboards have arguments at times for superior aspects of the game, but they're mostly users of a competitive mindset. Here, it's a mix of casual and competitive in a single thread and things go bad.

This is probably a smart way to look at it although IMO it means more to break the 200K number than to have a higher sustained number of viewers.

I don't think so. If i'm not mistaking, Twitch pays for the amount of viewers hold betwen an specific time period.

Easy fiction example

Twitch pays 1000$ for every 1k viewers hold during 1 hour. Every top 8 lasts for 2 hours

Case A

Smash 150kx2h =300000$
Marvel 150kx2h = 300000$
SF 150kx2h = 300000$
Total = 900000$

Smash 150kx2h = 300000$
SF 200kx2h = 400000$
Marvel 80kx2h = 160000$
Total = 860000$

They're losing 40k just cuz a time slot change.

I don't think there's a high chance for Kazunoko to get beaten twice by non-top players, not necessarily because he's so good, but because of the way he plays.
