Why is Remmy still on this team? Is it his inability to get people out? His ability to walk nearly every batter who doesn't get a hit on him? His + 5 era? Oh yeah he is Dustys boy! Yeah why have our young guns learn how to pitch when we can have the vet Remmy come in and fuck things up! WOOOOOOOO.

Our offense will make a comeback....in the next 7 games when we score 9 runs over that timespan!
 
The nutty NHL trade deadline has us spoiled I guess. Baseball's deadline is usually a letdown, but this year was just TERRIBLE. Too many teams still almost in contention I guess, no one wanted to sell so you had a dozen teams thinking they still had a shot when they probably don't.
 
Holy shit the Mets didn't piss away Milledge and Petit at the dead line,wow.:lol

Call up Petit and promote Milege to AAA. Groom the kids and clean house with some of the dead weight on this team. Glavine and Ishi and Matsui I would love to see gone. Put Heilman back as the 4 starter,and hopefully Traschel will make it back sometime in August for the 5 spot. If not give the ball to Petit and let the kid do his thing. Screw the wild card,we have no chance with the inconsistency that this team displays. I just want to see good baseball being played at this point.

Nice win by the Amazins this afternoon. 1 game over .500 again,back and forth back and forth..... Mediocer baseball at its finest,heh.

May as well bring up the kids,we need something to look forward to for the rest of the year.

Just hope nobody hits a ball to Lawton for the rest of the year.

He is the worst fielder I have ever seen in my life. Let's just say he makes routine plays look spectacular.

As a Pirates fan, I'm perfectly happy with this trade. Lawton was a good player for us, but he's still owed $2.5 million on the year. We weren't going anywhere this year and he sure as hell wasn't going to be back next year, so we had no use for him. Gerut is a bit of project, but he showed he can hit well in his rookie year, so maybe he can reclaim some of that glory with the short right field porch at PNC. He shows good discipline at the plate, as well, and he can at least catch the ball, which is more than I can say for Matt Lawton.

Bottom line, we weren't going to get anything better for Lawton anyways since he is an overpriced, contract year guy. I would have prefered the Cubs have given us Jason Dubois instead of giving him to Cleveland, but oh well.

Also, Lofton for Bobby Hill was a good trade for the Pirates. We'll just forget that we "threw in" Aramis Ramirez.

I'd like to take this time and thank Brian Cashman for NOT trading off all of our quality youngsters and farmhands to make some unnecessary emergency trade. Our farm system isn't so barren anymore, and our future'll be pretty bright, it seems.

Cano. Wang. Duncan. Hughes. Jackson. DePaula. Clippard. Henry. We've got a future, mang.

On that note, oh my God is Giambi just ridiculous right now. Is it safe for me to not call this a simple "hot streak" anymore? It seems like he's been savaging baseballs since late June.

Well helloooo reversal of fortune. Where is that obnoxious Kuroyume now, huh? My Braves were 18-8 for July and now have a comfortable lead in the division. Time to punch it into cruise control until we get bounced in the first round of the playoffs. :(
 
it's funny....i relate with braves fans so much. us southsiders never expect to make the playoffs, even when we're ahead by a ton, and braves fans never expect to win a series when they know they'll make the playoffs.

let's commiserate and have a drink. i have enough Icehouse for all of us!
 
I'm not going to drink for at least another 24 hours. Saturday was drunken kickball and I probably drank about 40 beers over a six hour span. Of course I probably had as much thrown on me for being obnoxious.
 
It really has less to do with that than the fact that you can't buy beer in GA on Sundays, and I somehow inexplicably ran the fuck out of beer. I think I took it all to the kickball game where it was either consumed or thrown at someone.

it's funny because Indiana(where i live) doesn't sell any type of alcohol on sundays.
