the opening shot of superman floating down in front of the senate hearing and also bruce witnessing the heat vision is so good. it's the first time since x2 (with nightcrawler in the white house) where one of these comic book movies really sold the idea of a superpowered being in a real world.

the rest of the trailer i'm kind of mixed about but those opening 30 seconds are fantastic. really nice looking shots too man, larry fong is killing it with this one.

Snyder is a Superman fanboy so no, don't expect Batman to get any sort of W in this. Hopefully he doesn't make Bats look like a bitch when he fights Superman by the end of the fight.

This is like the biggest make or break of the film for me. I know Bats ain't gonna win since it's Snyder, but don't make it unbelievable. I want Morrison Bat-God of intelligence by the time Justice League rolls around.

Paul Revere's most famous quote, "The British are coming" likely was never said. Since everyone in the colonies were British citizens. It is more probable that he shouted either, "The soldiers are coming! The soldiers are coming!" or "The redcoats are coming! The redcoats are coming!" If Paul Revere shouted, "The British are coming", then the colonist would not have known who Paul Revere was warming them about.

Its a shot i've been waiting for, that or him meeting the President. Theres something inherently epic about Superman or the JL standing in congress in costume, happens all the time in the comics (especially kingdom come) and it just seems ... cool.

When he said the red capes line my eyes rolled out of my head so hard I haven't been able to find them since.

Because MoS was a lackluster movie that didn't set the world on fire like Avengers. So WB was like "Fuck it, put Batman in the next one. Do it now!"

Anything is possible. BO is random as hell now a days. On paper there should be no reason for BvS not to hit 1.5bil easily.
 
I'm not really judging that dialogue because most of it looks like hes fraternising with a senator, gaining suction with a political chess piece. So ges a mixture of charming, animated and eccentric. Lex roaming his hand over a bowed down Superman, that looks like Lex to me.

This is one of my issues with it as well, and its reflected in the scene structure too. My gf at the time watched it and said the film reminded her of a dream like sequence, in that it was a bit surreal, it didn't really flow together, it's just lots of jump cuts. The oil rig rescue is a great example. It's over before it's started.

Yeah I completely agree. Everything I see of Lex in this movie makes me think he is going to be a terrible fit.

You know that that's not going to be one continuous conversation in the movie, right? Transitioning from "biggest lie in American history" to "devils don't come from beneath us" makes exactly 0 sense.

But this film's hardly about normal people, is it?
 
I look at it this way: There are very few times that Lex doesn't use an opportunity to speak as a platform for his own ends or buff up his ego. All the "biggest lie in America" stuff sounds like it'd be in a speech to a crowd of voters and that's by design. The only time Lex might ever speak frankly is when he needs dirty work done (ordering around Mercy) or when he wants to pompously lord over heroes.

If the story is going the way we think it's going then Lex has orchestrated this fight in more ways than one. In his perspective, he's the MC to one of the most resonant clashes in history and whoever falls, he comes out on top. Those lines are his excitement manifest and a taunt to the heroes possibly listening. Hell they don't even need to be around because those words are feeding his own ego.

Other than the 'Black and blue' line, all those other lines probably make sense in context.

Particularly the Redcapes line. That sounds like part of a joke.

Generally no one but there is no context here. Knowing the douchenozzle that is Lex, he is doing to manipulate a congressman, or the public, or taunting the heroes.

I'm sure it was made plain in one of the various DC cartoons as well. It might have been a throwaway line but I'm sure I've heard that Gotham and Metropolis were just an hour or so away.

What we need is Lex having the potential to be a theatrical weirdo while maintaining a certain dignity. I can see Eisenberg pulling this off, but I would have rather had the trailer showing him more serious and calculating and less as Superman's Joker analog. Why does Lex have to be overdramatic at all?
 
Considering this is a pretty interesting take on a Batman scene (comparable to say, the Begins hallucination) I wonder if we're going to get the old woman undercover scene from TDKR.
