There is no way that dream sequence won't be silly.

There's no way that most of this movie won't be silly. There's so much crap being thrown onto the screen there's no way to ground it to make the audience feel emotionally invested in what's going on. Sure it'll be a decent action movie though if the CGI holds up.

Reposting I think its based on this. Elseworld WW2 Batman

Isn't that what people said about The Avengers, Guardians of The Galaxy, and a host of other successful superheroes? I think if those movies can be a hit. Having Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Lex Luthor all in one movie is something an audience can handle.

Yep, Lex is the single biggest part of this trailer that I have a problem with too, the character just doesn't feel very threatening or Lex-like. The way he says that red capes line just comes across as meak and odd, and every bit of dialogue he has sounds hushed and low key, certainly not what I would expect from an egotistical business mogul and criminal mastermind.

Personally I was hoping for a Lex more in line with the Superman: The Animated Series Lex. A powerful strong figure who is commanding and calculated yet brilliant, a man who hides his evil behind politeness and manners, a criminal who uses the law and the public eye to shield himself from the god-like powers of Superman. I'm just not getting any of that from this trailer, not even a spec of it.

But, it's early, and maybe future trailers will focus more on Lex and give us a better look at just who the character is. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I mean that scene in particular, I can just imagine Bruce tossing in turning in his bed while flashes of his Superman dictatorship fantasy play out.

Also yeah the desert costume seems to be a little of Liberty Files and Red Son Batman.

has this been posted yet?

zod's heat blast matches perfectly with the new trailer

nice attention to detail

Previous page lol It is good work though

Why does Lex have to be overdramatic at all?

Are we really gonna say that this guy (All Star Superman Spoilers) doesn't have a theatrical or an overdramatic bent? Same guy who wanted to name the destroyed part of the west coast Costa del Lex in Superman 1978? Same one who screams "Wrong!" into Lois Lane's face in Returns?

Does anyone really expect a DC movie to set the world on fire and beat a Marvel movie at the box office?
Avengers = 1,500,000,000
Dark Knight =1,005,000,000
Dark Knight Rises = 1,085,000,000
Iron Man 3 = 1,215,000,000
Avengers 2 = 1,389,000,000
>

Thor = 449,000,000
Thor 2 = 645,000,000
Captain America =371,000,000
Winter Soldier =715,000,000
Hulk = 263,000,000
Guardians = 774,000,000

It's still a terrible line. Especially the way he says it.

One of my biggest problem with MoS was the dialogue. No one has an actual conversation in that movie. Everyone talks in trailer quotes or exposition.

"You know the biggest lie in American history, Senator?"

"We know now, devils don't come from the hell beneath us, they come from the sky."

"Black and blue. Day versus night. Man vs god."

"The red capes are coming."

WHO TALKS LIKE THAT

Not enough jokes and one-liners huh

Oh no, like I said in the first part of my post, the potential for an overdramatic lunatic is supposed to exist in Lex but the trailer made it seem as if it was his default mode.

Of course, trailers are tiny parts of the movie and I imagine they'll try to characterize Luthor better throughout the movie... I just hope they aren't making this Lex just another Joker.

As much as I try and can't explain the concept of why Batman wants to body check Superman to my wife. Maybe I'm not doing a good job.

"But Batman is a good guy."

Well yeah but Superman and Zod blew the shit out of two continents and Batman is a little concerned that Superman is too powerful for this earth.

"Yeah, but Superman is a good guy."

Well, yeah but as a result of them playing catch with each other there was untold destruction... and what if more of those people come to earth?

"But they are both good guys."

Y-yeah.

She has no interest in reading the comics. I wonder if other people are confused by this concept?

Craziest idea is that this is a clone of Superman, but it can't be true.

Looks like a hostage situation or blackmail.

That came to mind too. Looks like Lex's hand is a bit wrapped in he teasing scene. Maybe he gets hurt and taunts Supes into submission. "Look what you've done, Superman? You've hurt another human, a non-threat. You can't prove anything I've done yet here you are harassing me. Kneel down for a while and maybe I'll be willing to forgo telling my friend the senator how violent you've been."

Ah I see. It's totally understandable but I think they'll definitely characterize him as more than just Superman's Joker. The scene with him teasing Superman and the way Superman looked up at him in fury spoke volumes more than his lines to me personally. I think he's gonna say goofy stuff but in reality, when he's not putting on a show for senators and stuff, he might be very very sinister and toss off the geeky cover.

This along with "How can Batman possibly beat Superman?" are the 2 most common refrains I get from my non-comic reading friends. I think the best way to explain it would be to say, have you ever met someone who at first you hated either due to a misunderstanding or not knowing them but later you two became friends? This is that but with superheroes.

"Batman is blinded by his own paranoia."

Done.

I think a lot of people will be, the teaser is selling hard that Bruce is a cynical disjointed asshole whose embittered by years of betrayal (Dent) loss (Robin). hes let the Wayne manor literally ruin. Even Alfred looks sick of his shit. I think Superman and Wonder are going to be the symbol he needs.

I don't understand your order here.

BVS should easily hit Avengers numbers unless it sucks like MOS.

Comparing this movie to Marvels Phase 1 movies Numbers would be ridiculous. 700M+ should be the new standard for a successful movie given the budgets of these movies nowadays. If BVS doesn't hit 1B it will be considered a Bomb by some, even though that shouldn't be the case.

Freaking awesome trailer. Man it was so epic. However....not too pleased with the shit Ma Kent said to Clark at the end of her monologue. "You don't owe them anything." Almost in the same assholish tone that Pa Kent said in MOS, which jarring to me. Really do not like this brooding Superman they are trying to push. I understand its a new take but man, we already have a brooding Batman. Maybe Clark lightens up in this film.
It's just taken out of contex.

I image she tells him because he should act on his will and not because "he owe them". Just like they always have thought him. To do what he wants to do. As for his father comment in the first movie, it makes sense. He wants to protect his son. And he died believing in it.

Sounds like a Snyder film to me. :P

Should be fun for a one time watch in a theater. For an actual Batman film, hopefully the one Bafleck gets to make is actually decent.

Any guesses how long this will be ? I am guessing 150min.

And my biggest fear for this movie is, that there will be too many characters at the end.

Edit: fuck it, saw the length of Watchmen, which is 162min. This could be longer than that.

If the movie is good, it can be 3 hours long for all I care. LOTR is 3-4 hours long for each movie, and it's one of the best trilogies of all time.

Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Lex, mysterious villain

Aquaman, Cyborg, etc. will only be cameos at most

Doesn't seem that crowded IMO

It won't be crazy long, that could kill the film honestly. I'm guessing around 2h 10 putting it between Furious 7 and Jurassic World. We have to remember certain scenes could be opening montage/history refresher.

I tend to stay out MCU threads about upcoming movies because I'm not super familiar with the material and fear spoilers but is "too crowded" a common complaint for Civil War?

Yeah, but Robin, Nightwing and Joker could be in it too.

But what do I know.
Given that we're getting Suicide Squad after, I'm going to assume that the Jason Todd/Joker hints are the equivalent of Joker card at the end of Begins. Laying the groundwork for a plot that'll be explored in the next movie

I doubt we'll see Robin and Joker in BvS
