Yeah, but luckily, the reason why Steam is successful is because (as far as these services go) it's fairly painless. Punch in the code Amazon gives you and it'll download the client and automatically keep you up to date on any patches, etc., unless you specifically set it otherwise.

I may barely be a mid tier BB player at best, but in my entire time playing the game "defensive" has never been a word that'd come to mind to describe it wtf
