Aliens certainly didn't age as well as the original movie IMO, but I'm not sure if that's entirely its fault. It exhibits some groan-worthy 80s action movie cliches, but I don't think they were nearly as beaten into the ground at that point.

One of the characters in FV looked pretty similar.

What was the name of that Zero player from Texas who was supposed to be 'the one', before Flocker became the one?

Mihe

marvel hasn't been outstanding since the 80's
while DC hasn't been outstanding since the 90's

To you or in general?

Cuz Marvel has been having fantastic comics since the 2000s. 90s may have been their weakest era, but all other eras had notable stories and comics published.

Hell 2000s DC had great comics too and I'm not talking about their Vertigo line.

The scene where Ripley first meets the marines there's this really stock-sounding military drumroll that plays throughout the entire sequence, dunno if that seemed cool back then but man that sounds corny now.

I feel that with some exceptions (Bendis' Ultimate Spidey, the AMAZING Uncanny X-Force from a few years back) Marvel has generally not been fulfilling for a long time. There's good stuff, there's funny and entertaining stuff, but nothing of lasting value IMO.

I see what you mean. A lot of stories are good but are they truly amazing?

I won't lie, I like the hard stuff and feel proud that I can do it. I like that in KOF stuff like running normal throw, antiair supers, and HD combos require dedicated practice.

But let's be real. A sky-high skill ceiling is not important for many people. Artificially widening the gap between the skills of players scares beginners away. SF4 had a good mix of simple and not-so-simple stuff that made it approachable.

I want to thank everyone that helped enable me to get to go to EVO again this year. I rarely get to go out and do much these days and being able to go to an event for my favorite genre of games like this means a unbelievable amount to me. I had a ton of fun last year and I can't believe I'm getting to do it all over again. Thank you.

Can't wait to see you there! Hope you have a great time this year too

Indeed. I just think SF4 went far too match up dependent. Not well verses in KOF so I can't comment on that but in DOA, it's far less match up dependent until you reach the top 5 where some in the cast can't do too much against but a much larger pool can actually get in.

Every single tournament in USFIV has huge character representation, in the last major we had a top 8 consisting of 8 different characters, 10 if you count the alts. At what point do we stop saying that in SF IV matchups matter too much?
