Yes, but it won't be "genuine".
I think they want everyone on the new release, and they'll just continue nagging un-genuine users afterwards.
So, you still have to buy a legit version even if you upgrade to Windows 10 on a non-genuine version?

Is there currently a legit way to get this iso? What version number is it?

The ISOs out there are converted Windows Update files, but the direct link to them from MS has been blocked on browsers. The build you want is 10240.
And you can use that ISO to update your existing Windows 7/8.1? Or do you need to install from scratch when using those?
My genuine copy of Windows 7 is unable to update, and all I get is 'Error 80072EFD' I once spent half a day trying to fix it, and unfortunately got nowhere.
Also the time before this, when I tried updating, it broke absolutely everything, and my machine was unusable. I had to use a System Restore to rollback every update.
I'm actually kind of afraid to use Windows Update, knowing that it just loves to break everything on my PC
What are my options?
Yes. What GPU? I'm on 780Ti.
Only seems to occur when watching a flash video (Aka Twitch). Hasn't happened when I'm actually gaming.
I uninstalled 3D Vision and it didn't come back. After updating to 10240.

I like how there's built in game recording software in Win10 that pops up if you press the guide button on the 360 controller.
That looks like disabling for every device, but that's what I would want anyway.Looks like the driver thing can be disabled per device if this hasn't changed:

I'll let you know when I get home. My laptop has standard Home. I know it didn't have group policy. That looks like disabling for every device, but that's what I would want anyway.
Is this manual disable option still possible with a Home Premium upgrade to 10, or is it an advanced feature? I seem to remember workgroups etc. being reserved for higher levels in older versions of Windows.
That's cool, probably be using this for videos as alot easier than using shadowplay.
Ugh...been stuck at "Making sure you're ready to install" for about 5 hours now upgrading from 8.1. My second attempt after I gave up yesterday. Tried killing start up services etc. with a clean boot, turning off real-time Defender protection, but hasn't helped![]()
Mine did this, turned out for whatever reason the USB webcam held it up. Once unplugged, it was fine. Just rip out everything bar mouse and keyboard if you can.
Yeah tried that too. It's a laptop, so even unplugged the mouse and just used the track pad. I guess there's a bunch of other peripheral stuff that could be a bit harder to remove, given its form.
Try disabling stuff in the device manager? It's as good as disconnecting stuff.
I've got my copy 'reserved' like many of you but I'm a little hesitant to pull the trigger as soon as the option goes live. Will I be able to just sit back and wait until I feel I'm ready to actually do the upgrade?
8.1 runs perfectly for me right now and I'm in no hurry to see something break, etc. Also, is there any limitation or catch to the free offer beyond x amount of time?
Yep, just trying that now. No effect so far. Only things I have left alone are display adapters/mouse/keyboard/disk drives/network card etc.

You've got until July 29th 2016.
My desktop hung at first, second time without the webcam it just popped up "Windows installation has failed", then hung again (HELPFUL!), so I did the following things. Not sure if any of them did anything, but good things to try:
Uninstalled Start8
Did the windows built in clean up for everything
Exited everything in the notification area
Chose "no" to the downloading updates before Windows 10 update
As in some random generic key you found on the internet, or the generic key you get when upgrading Windows?
The former will likely be blocked from activating, the latter should be already activated.
.There are often times when you need to install Windows 10 evaluation or testing in a virtual machine like VirtualBox for example. You may not want to activate it every time with your licensed product key that you use on a real machine. For that purpose, you can use generic keys for Windows 10 available from Microsoft, which will allow you to install the OS, but won't allow you to activate it. As long as you have an ISO image or any other bootable media containing Windows Setup files you can install the OS using a generic key

.
so if I was eligible for a free upgrade and used this generic key, provided by MS, how do I get a valid key after 29th, since I was qualified?
I decided to go for it and upgraded via the RTM iso - worked fine to start but now my Windows button has died. It doesn't respond to either left click or the Windows keyboard button.
Only recommended solutions I could find were to restart Explorer (didn't work) and switch to Tablet mode and back (nope).![]()

So I'm reading some posts here and from the other threads
Those converted Windows Update ISO files, for example, that certain one posted in the "Windows 10 is out will DX12 games follow?" thread. Will that one still work? I've been sitting on that one for a while now.
Also I'd be upgrading from Windows 7 OEM to Windows 10.
And I bought a nice new 500GB SSD just for Windows 10. 2 SSD's and 2 HDD party time
Should do, depends if it's the standard OEM or one of those custom ones. If it asks for a CD key when you try upgrading, back out as it's not going to work.
Upgraded from my legit windows 7 ultimate copy (activated) to windows 10 pro (activated). Good stuff and haven't encountered any problems yet.
I used to run windows 8.1 but my key stopped working for some reason but so far Windows 10 seems to be awesome.
Is there any chance they'll bring Win10 to RT devices? I'm eyeing a 2nd hand 2520.
In January 2015, Microsoft unveiled Windows 10 Mobile which is the successor to Windows Phone 8.1 that is designed for both smartphones and tablets with displays smaller than 8-inches in size, supports ARM system-on-chips, and emphasizes a unified platform and application ecosystem with its PC counterpart. Although this new OS is a de facto successor to Windows RT,[not in citation given] Microsoft has explicitly deemed Windows RT devices to be incompatible with Windows 10, and stated that Windows RT devices would receive a separate update featuring "some" of its changes.[6]
So, you still have to buy a legit version even if you upgrade to Windows 10 on a non-genuine version?
I would really advise against using any of the leaked ISO's that have been linked; The 29th is just a few more days away.
I'm sorry if this was asked before, but if I'm on Windows 7 right now, is there any way to do a clean install to 10? Or do I have to do an upgrade?
