Life is Strange | Spoiler Thread

IMO I thought he was acting very strange this whole episode. Beating the shit out of Nathan was very uncharacteristic of him.

Also Brooke is obnoxious as hell. She makes sure to mention Warren going with her 3-4 times in a single conversation.

Does taking the picture of Victoria back in the first episode affect her not trusting you at the party?

Yes, if you are nice to her in episode 1 she says that max could have been mean to her but she wasn't.

I wonder if the owl in the barn and the owl flying across the screen at the end of episode 4 means anything.

Another thing I noticed is that max's original photo contest entry is on the menu entry after you end episode four or click on episode 5 in the menu.

Prediction: David helps you escape from Jefferson, you go back in time using the selfie you took with Warren, and one of the choices in the episode is whether or not to kill Jefferson while he is on stage.

Something that gives concrete evidence of her suffering and imminent doom. But we really don't get that. The decision almost comes out of nowhere.

Eh? Didn't you talk to Joyce in the bedroom? I think she said something along the lines of "she doesn't have long left"

Nah, she pretty blatantly tries to rub it in your face.
I honestly took this as Dontnod telling me "don't worry, we got the picture, you're not dating Warren." I was thankful for it.

There was also the note from the Doctor in Joyce's room. The writing was on the wall. But I didn't kill her because "it's not over until it's over." Also, what if we have to go back to that reality for whatever reason? What if we have to live our life there? I know she burned the photo but that doesn't mean much to me.

This was a weird episode. Some of the dialogue felt really off, after the improvement from episodes 2 and 3, there's a lot of stuff in episode 4 that's worse than 1. Some of the twists were neat as hell, but some were disappointingly normal, I was expecting crazier shit, though I was already expecting Rachel to be dead ever since I first saw her posters everywhere in episode 1 and realized she was this game's Laura Palmer.

It also had some of the best gameplay segments of the entire series so far, with some neat little putting the pieces together stuff, but at the same time had some unusually dumb gameplay aspects, like after teaching you to cover your tracks in the last 3 episodes, not even offering you the choice to do so in many cases.

The most bizarre point to me was that, even though it was by far the longest episode, it still felt somewhat rushed. I don't mean the pacing, if it was longer I would lose my mind probably, but it felt like they just wanted to get the story where they wanted for episode 5, and didn't mind some subpar stuff along the way. A lot of this episode just felt off to me.

I would normally hate the Jefferson twist, but he somewhat saved what was an unexpectedly boring Dark Room. Nathan's drawing about Rachel in the Dark Room made me think of far weirder things.

The owls are not what they seem.

Gotta admit I lol'd pretty hard when Brooke said the reason she's being such a bitch to you is because she's "mad salty"

I actually didn't mind it (particularly because I'd really rather she just take Warren and keep him far away from Max) but that conversation was even more awkward for me, because for some reason after I rewinded her audio for when you walk by her kept playing during the conversation.

I'll share my actual thoughts on the episode tomorrow; that ending was super tense and I need to sleep on it.

dat ending!

why would they just go there in the dark like that at the end. It seemed like a recipe for disaster....

As an inspiring photographer Max should've taken pics of eeeverything in this episode. At least on her phone if she doesn't have film.

Loving this series though. One of my best gaming experiences in a long while.

I see a lot of people mad that they couldn't put the stuff back in the Dark Room, but I'm thinking there wasn't a choice to rewind because then Chloe wouldn't remember and Max wouldn't do that to her friend. Though I can't explain why you couldn't take pictures. :P

Also is there any set of choices you can make for Max to seem genuinely interested in Warren? Or does she always facepalm after Chloe says "That kid is so in love with you" and she responds "I know." I mean that exasperation is pretty much my reaction, but I was curious if there was a different outcome.

Yup. I thought it was Victoria at first, but nope, definitely Max.

Given that the dungeon looks totally inspired by The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, I wouldn't be surprised if there's a clever reference to that film via Jefferson calling Max a "useless fucking detective."

Does anyone else think that Warren might have been dosed by someone during the Vortex Club Party? He specifically mentions having half a drink (similar to Kate) and seems completely wasted.

It could be nothing but it still seems kinda odd. I wouldn't think anything of it if he didn't mention how much he drank.

I did think he was going to be a total creeper in that scene so I'm glad it didn't pan out that way.

It's possible that Nathan gave heads up to someone at the party to make sure Warren gets dosed so he can get his revenge on the boy while he doesn't have full control over himself. But I think in general it's more likely that Warren just isn't a very big drinker, so he has no resistance built up and can get caught off-guard by a smaller amount of beer. I know someone who does feel like they're buzzed with much less alcohol than me because they don't drink hardly at all. Even if half a Solo cup of cheap party beer seems unlikely to make anyone feel anything.

Brooke bragging about going out with Warren was weird because I'm all "GOOD, TAKE HIM"

But for real, this was such a heavy episode. Going into that barn and finding the bunker was one of the most unnerving experiences I've had in a game. And before that, if you fucked up things with the drug dealer whose name escapes me, you go through a pretty long sequence of heavy shit.

I think Jefferson did away with Nathan, either by dosing him or killing him, just before he announced the winner of the contest.

I feel like there is too much to wrap up in one epusode for the ending to not disappoint us. I feel like the penultimate episodes should have closed a couple character arcs and focused in more, no? They have so much work to do now...

The action really picked up though, my jaw dropped when Chloe ate it in the face!! Can't wait for the ending!

This game is the surprise of the year.

Finished this last night and my god I had to go back to journey just to calm myself down.I'm so in love with this game.I'm all in.

Also fuck Jefferson.

Another small clue for the future was possibly the duct tape in the art room when you have to find the supplies to get into the principals office. There is duct tape in the dark room.

If we do use the Warren selfie to go back, theres a good reason to have to bring up the other photo time travel and euthanasia choice with Chloe.

I was wondering about alternate maxine because she talks about being in a dark room when nathan texts here but that could just be actual photography stuff. I think the warren selfie might be too obvious though...They are hinting at max's original contest entry though but she ripped it up and dropped it on the floor so that is strange.

You know, its funny how much of the dark, murder, bondage exhibition subplot is starting to take shape in this game, because in Season 1 of True Detective which more or less involves the same thing, vortexes were a prominent image too.

I don't really understand how...

If Jefferson is famous, why the hell is he in some small-ass town teaching at a private high school?

And why the hell was he okay with kids drinking underage at a party where he supervising it?

Maybe he owns the barn under the name they mentioned.

You're talking about a guy currently in cahoots with a mentally unstable boy abducting women, photographing them, and at times, killing them.

Pretty sure he's got his own fucked up reasons for the small town schtick.

There's a news paper article somewhere that showed only 4-5 people reported missing in Arcadia, and some of them were a long time ago and weren't young girls, so I would assume Jefferson hasn't been killing anybody other than Rachel Amber.

The game has many Required Selfies we could be able to go back too...

Episode 3 for example.

A selfie is the one of the first things we take in episode one, we could go all the way back there!!

There are five syringes in the junk yard. This is all so confusing.

I think I will just step away from trying to predict anything and just replay the episodes again to reset some choices I made.

I'd just think that someone would've at least questioned it or brought it up.

I think the whole end of the world stuff, along with the rewind stuff is probably just some hallucination stuff and Max has been the one drugged up in that hole the entire time and the tornado is some kind of symbolism that her life is about to come to an end or something like that.

And I assume Jefferson has bunkers like this all over the country to make sure he's not caught.

Then this really is True Detective the game ain't it. :P

Maybe. The whole nature out of whack stuff is completely random and not even Earth based given the 2 Moons. Not only that, the stuff at the end of Episode 3 is an alternate timeline, yet happens in the normal timeline as well. You'd think that 2 universes would have different effects. It just seems to be too much in Max's head for it to not have alternate effects.

Not only that, Max couldn't rewind time when she was drugged, so that might be the one constant here in that she couldn't change her fate.

Whatever the case, Episode 5 is going to be a total mind fuck.

My current theory is that he isn't as brilliantly successful as the students believe and he's privately known for crossing the line with models in the art community. Teaching at a backwater private school is the only job he can find, furthering his dark urges.
