Guys did they remove the ability to have the theme function cycle in the picture folder using Photo Gallery?
I can't get Cortana to play specific songs or artists. It just brings up the web page with links to Youtube videos instead of playing the music on my pc. She will play it if I say shuffle music or play random music, but that just queues everything up.
I'd love to install Win10 but all the ridiculous amounts of data harvesting is just not cool with me. The biggest worry I have is that data harvesting, when turned off, turns on automatically after a while. Stuff like keystrokes being sent to Microsoft is just mad.
Anyone found a way to permanently gut that stuff or am I gonna have to wait for 6 months for a block?
Does anybody know how to access nvidia's control panel?
I did, through GeForce Experience.Install the latest driver rather than letting windows do it.
Search for it or right click on the desktop.I did, through GeForce Experience.
Doesn't appear. Seems like I will have to uninstal and install again?Search for it or right click on the desktop.
The "Get Windows 10" icon in my taskbar has returned after a 2-day absence. Still not selected for the update yet.
Maybe I'm just dumb but is there a way now to assign a different desktop background to your multiple monitors? Or do I still have to use a 3rd party tool for that?
Anyone?
I thought I read a while back that the insider previews will be able to upgrade to the release version for free. Is this true? Mine still says its an insider preview, how do i upgrade it?
Anyone?

Ok, I'm pretty confused about this process. I just bought a Win 8.1 OEM key, how can i best go about turning this into a Win 10 key for future fresh installs? No.
You have to update first so your keys will convert to Win 10 then use the toolkit again to create a bootable OS before you can install fresh.

Microsoft will collect information “from you and your devices, including for example ‘app use data for apps that run on Windows’ and ‘data about the networks you connect to.'
Microsoft collects and uses various types of data, such as your device location, data from your calendar, the apps you use, data from your emails and text messages, who you call, your contacts and how often you interact with them on your device.
Cortana also learns about you by collecting data about how you use your device and other Microsoft services, such as your music, alarm settings, whether the lock screen is on, what you view and purchase, your browse and Bing search history, and more.”

Worked for me in limited testing, but I make no guarantees

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think I have to install Win 8.1 fresh, then upgrade to Win 10 (not fresh install) then somehow my key turns into a Win 10 key, which then I can use to do a fresh Win 10 install??
So confusing

You already have the release version but if that is the path you're taking you need to stay on the preview builds to remain activated
The current preview build is the same as the RTM version
AFAIK, Microsoft is rolling out Windows 10 based on hardware configurations, which in turn are based on whatever information they got from the Insider program. What kind of PC are you running?
Anyone else having a hard time getting the wireless Xbox 360 controller to work on win 10? I plug in the dongle and it doesn't seem to be recognized.
how do I turn off all the data sharing settings that I didnt turn off when I did express install of windows 10?
Did the upgrade first to make sure it all activated fine and then I did a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro.
Both times worked flawlessly and everything is running well.
Really positive impressions thus far!
Oh crap.. Yet to try this though. Gonna be bummed out if the adapter does not work.
Fresh install worked, but can't fully activate with my W 8.1 OEM key...
I had this problem and I heard it was a crossfire problem so my 290x cf setup might have been guilty but this was totally fixed for me after going to 15.7.1 driverHey, everyone just came from Windows 10 subreddit and AMDs support forums, and it seems that there is a problem with the current drivers on Windows 10 for some users (seems to be dynamic graphics users mostly). The problem causes the machine to hang with a black screen for a minute after the bootup logo, again (sans black screen) right after the desktop loads up and during shutdown/restart.
I've tested by uninstalling AMD drivers with DDU. Reverting to the Intel integrated alone allows the machine to boot/shutdown/restart just fine without hangs.
Just wanted to put this out there for AMD users experiencing this problem, so you don't waste your time trying to reinstall the entire OS/drivers.
Will I continue to receive all updates if i leave it this way?
follow these steps.
1. Install win 8.1 and fully update
2. run the win 10 upgrade either by reserved download or media creation tool. This will convert your exsisting win 8.1 key into a generic win 10 key for the upgrade. At the same time a hardware ID for your setup will be generated and sent to microsoft. This is now your 'system key' but you dont see it. Your software key is still good for win 8.1.
3. Now finally clean install windows 10. At no point enter any key when/if it asks. There is a skip or do this later option presented, choose that. When the clean install is done, connect to the internet and you will automatically activate. This works fine for me and many others.
Pretty sure, it's upgrade or fresh install to 8.1 > upgrade 10 and should link key on your account / hardware > fresh install 10

Yeah, thanks but I will skip Windows 10.
Shit, this is very worrying. Hope I can cancel it when the install is ready

So did I and had no troubles save for having to reboot the PC to get my video card drivers to be recognized. I started up the Xbox app and clicked on "Stream" and it worked right out the gate. The quality while streaming wasn't up to snuff as my network is pretty poor. However, I got a glimpse of the future and know that when I get myself a better router things should work flawlessly! Good stuff, and I wasn't even sure that I cared to bother with it on my dinosaur, 4 year old PC!I did this last night and it was really fast and pain free. Just had to reboot to get sound working from my video card and reinstall my Thrustmaster TX drivers. Other than that it's fantastic. I really like 10 holy shit.
