Dark Souls 3 Trailer (Gamescom 2015)

Bloodsouls/Darkborne up in here.

My first instinct says the skull is an NPC. As scary as it seems, it just seems like something that will end up talking to you and imparting forbidden knowledge, or tasking you with something that may or may not work out for you (similar to the primordial serpents in the first Dark Souls).

Best-case scenario, the skull asks you to sit down and then proceeds to do stand-up comedy (skull-up comedy?) until you stand and leave.

I think it's the giant torso boss we saw in the trailer.

oh hell yes!!...they showed so much more actual gameplay footage then I was expecting...the combat looks totally like Bloodborne combined with the usual Dark Souls lore, atmosphere and world building...the best of both!!...my body is ready!!

did he stab him with the arrow?!

I don't like this trailer. Way too many boss spoilers. :\

PS marketing team did it right with the BB ones.

I guess they wanted to go all out with the gameplay trailer, because the CG one didn't make much of an impact. I do agree though. Bloodborne entire marketing campaign showed only 3 bosses, and this one trailer has more than that lol.

Yes another From game I'll buy and never finish.

Maaaaan, this is going to be my game of the forever. Do we know anything more than 2016 for release date? Please let them release it early next year and not next christmas holiday.

This is the cumulative total of everything I love in video games. Dark ambience, superb combat, excellent character designs, gothic overtones, huge bosses, mysterious NPCs and lore....want it now.

Good guess. It's movement into view is similar to Kaathe.

also looks like they went with the Bloodborne/Dark Souls 1 type of single boss fights (which is fantastic...Dark Souls 2 seemed to go with the philosophy that adding more bosses makes a game harder, which is not the case)

did he stab him with the arrow?!

Nope, if you look close it's a sword. Would have been awesome if bows could backstab.

Trailer looks great. I don't know at all about going back to Dark 1's backstab mechanics though, PvP could be the same garbage fishing expedition it is in that game. Pure backstab fishing would get you killed in Dark 2, and fast.

Dark games with bright specular lighting (dark games with lots of wet or shiny textures) really bring out any aliasing problems in games. Any chromatic aberration will amplify this. Thats definitely what happened in Bloodborne at least. I'm sure you will be able to alleviate this on the PC version of DS3 although it's a shame it won't launch the same time as the console versions. I will probably be double dipping on this game because of that :/

The combat looks perfect imo. A combination of Souls and Bloodborne. Add in all the weapons and armor sets of Dark Souls with some quick dodging and backstabbing Lawd....

Where are all these other great Bloodborne type games I want dark Fantasy fatigue too.

It's mostly From and their very annualized approach to these games.

2014 - Dark Souls II & the Crowns Trilogy
2015 - Bloodborne & Scholar of the First Sin
2016 - Dark Souls III & the Bloodborne expansion (unless that is 2015)

Das a lotta stuff, even if you ignore the re-release of SotFS. It becomes very samey. The formula is clearly getting twerked out hard from the company.

good grief that uncompressed trailer

To be fair, for those who absolutely love this style of game, too much is never enough. Even if they went Assassins Creed and put out two games a year I'd buy them all. Just keep feeding me enemies and weapons and lore and those prison jailers who want my undead soul.

I wish other companies would give this type of game a serious go, I have the opposite problem of not enough Souls. :(

No way, I'd play Souls games every year forever if they kept being good, they just feel that good to play, very few things have that longevity just on how it feels to play.

so far they've done a good job of avoiding burnout...although Dark Souls 2 was a step down from all the other Souls games (Bloodborne included)...they said that Dark Souls 3 would be a turning point so I'm looking forward to finding out what that means
