"They'll show something big at TGS and PAX!"

"Final Fantasy XV is a game!"

EDIT: That thread title change, lol!

This has to be the worst handling of a game I've ever seen. Stop showing such small and pointless videos and giving us status updates. Now I understand why the preferred method of showing a game is waiting a year between trailers lmao.

Honestly this game seems like such a slog, watching them walk that little distance to that Marlboro made me audibly groan. If you don't nail down basic travelling in an open world game, players are going to be bored half of their play time. I'm also already sick of the music after playing through Duscae and 2.0.

If Square announced FF XV was switching to UE4 and starting from scratch with Nomura at helm and initial vision intact after he finishes KH3 and FF VIIr, and also that they're renaming Final Fantasy XV to Final Fantasy XVI and vice versa, with FF XVI's (former FF XV) target release year being 2020, I wouldn't hold it against them.

Ha ha you know what, the way it's looking yeah. Bring back nomura to re-start FFXV again , call that FFXVI and have whatever FFXVI is named FFXV. Why did I even look forward this, what a waste of hype. Seems like it's been bad news twice in a row now of how FFXV isn't as close to FF XIII VS as was hoped and again we're seeing more changes and needlessly it feels. I mean why did they really need to redesign and remodel Regis again. Is it because they want his father to look more of a warrior type and the previous Regis didn't cut it? Urgh, just why didn't they stick with what VS was and just finish it.

haha, thread title change is great

Lol that's pretty good.

This ATR though, Tabata...

Phillipo, post if you're ok

Kind of.

It was a very bad showing, like really bad, but this only speaks badly of their marketing/PR skills to me, not of the quality of the game itself. Like, everyone is screaming "omg ridiculous" "dis games doomed" "bound to sux" only because they're bad at promoting it.
I know it still is a valid complaint (you can rightly say its their fault for showing shit), but this is hardly more than judging a book by its cover, or a movie based on a badly cut trailer.
Like, they just began promoting the story and you really expect them to answer questions about villains and such? C'mon.

Only pros are narrating the story's intro via artworks (that was a nice touch imho, it tells it without spoiling game's cutscenes), the new area shown, and the fact that we're getting 2 new ATRs in the span of a little more than a month.

This was what I saw:

-Let's rewatch the trailer most people were disappointed with
-See how far we've come!
-Dodging questions
-We're opening a forum
-Show us some damn gameplay
-Here's a "gameplay trailer"
-Trailer features walking and then a Malboro beating the party
-Game Over
-Beer
-Beer repositioned to show brand on screen
-Thanks for joining us, next ATR at PAX Prime!

Yeah, I'm not personally worried for the game itself but that was some next level PR bullshit, fly to Germany for a crap like this.

It's funny you guys would think release date would come up at Gamescon.

TGS or next E3. This game is a Holiday 2016 in Japan deal.

This FF is too linear!

This FF is too nonlinear!

You guys wanted open world, there it is. Walking Simulator 201X.

good lord this is not looking good

looks depressingly far from completion

They should go dark and really hunker down and just finish the damn game.

There are too many distractions apparently

That seems incredibly generous.

Nope. I firmly believe 2017 now.

Maybe early 2017. Much like all of these console games coming from SE, FF7:R, KH3, Nier 2, etc.

I bet you none of these games had much of a budget / active staff until 2013 when Yoichi Wada stepped down. I'm pretty sure this all is due to Wada who focused heavy on mobile and handheld over the last 5+ years. Then the new CEO came in, and jump started the console development again.

So when you think about when development started for most of these games, think 2013-14 and later. So 2017 is a decent development time, 3-4 years.
