Ubisoft stock is tanking hard after disastrous earning report

The only value they have left is the IPs. I don't think a buyer will want anything else from them. Everything else they have is a liability. Nobody wants to buy the labor albatross they've collected. I can only imagine how overboard their real estate / office buildings are. This goes for almost every AAA dev though. They're all in sky high cost of living areas in an industry where you really don't benefit from proximity to logistics infrastructure.

The fact that on the investor call they are still sticking to touting day one "numbers" after the game has been out for months, instead of first month or two, even first week, tells you all you need to know. The legs were not very good and investors know that.

Again, Ubisoft didn't disclose sales on Valhalla either.

back then when they didn't disclose Valhalla sales number, they had revenue, profit, cash flow numbers to back it up, they were all good, investors didn't really care, stock price going thru the roof

but now, everything in their financial statement is tanking, it's hard to sell that AC Shadows is doing well

Moving the goalposts. Got it.

no, more like whatever goal posts you use, the company finance don't perform

whether you use games sold number (which right now non-existent) or revenue, or profit, or cash flow, the company finance is tanking

I didn't say a thing about company finance my man. You are right about the games sold number. It is non-existent. Just like it has been for Valhalla. Facts vs conjecture.

AC Shadows unit sold directly affect company finance, because it's the primary source of revenue this past quarter

None of which gives us any indication as to how many units Shadows sold. We know it outperformed Odyssey in players and revenue and that is all.

that still doesn't mean it's good, if Shadows number beat Odyssey only marginally, but they spent 150 million dollar on Odyssey, but spent 250 million on Shadows, that's still bad

We know the units sold is bad because company revenue/profit/cash flow this past quarter is bad, thus investors bailed the fuck out

"On Assassin's Creed, we don't disclose units sold" 😂

Asmongold is once again on point here. The reason Ubisoft and their shills are protecting AC to their last breath, because AC is their bread and butter, THE flagship franchise, once the brand is perceived damage, it's over for Ubisoft

Ubisoft-Tencent deal is based on nothing but BRAND VALUE, nothing more. Not because of Ubisoft financial performance (they can't anyway, because it sucks) but because of Assassin's Creed brand value. So they have to protect that brand value at all cost

Other studios that try to please the lowest common denominator with every title they release should study Ubisoft for a week or two. Nobody wants oversimplified dogshit with no backbone.

But how? I was told by youtubers and retarddit that AC was actually a hit piece and that billions (if not MORBILLIONS) people are enjoying it RIGHT NOW!

It was the ubisoft "current players" message a lie?... oh no!

It was obvious this AC wasnt doing well. Some of you are delusional and don't know how PR spinning works.

Best part for me is it didn't need to be this way. The success path for this game was easy, they played themselves. How a company in financial trouble didn't take the easiest path to profitability is so fucking funny to me.

Im socially Liberal, i knew lot of gamers are or were some sort of right winger, some brands may actually have more conservative leaning fanbases. I always thought it was retarded to go far left woke though in the past what 20 plus years? Many franchise HAVE lost lot of fans; shouldn't had rocked the boat because more fans means more money.

There is largely really NO "Modern Audiences", and there never was.

Anyway im happy Trump won, it makes the far left seethe everyday.

Ghost of Tsushima stole the wind from their sails before they even got out of the port. If they were practical they could have used it to springboard themselves into a better position but they played the same hand they always have. Everything else is window dressing.

Touting successes like 'best ever first day Ubisoft release on PSN' or 'EA's best ever single player Steam release' always reminds me of the skit in Little Britain where the guy is the 8th man on the moon but tells people he is the first man on the moon with a moustache.

Fact is Ubisoft had a damn good Q4...900m. They nearly made the same revenue as in all three first quarters together. Didnt expect that and it would mean Shadows sold way, way better than these lowball rumored numbers.

Even worse is that they saw the huge success of Tsushima and thought "damn! people are hungry for this classic samurai games, now is our time! Lets make ours...." and then Ac Shadows happened.

Lol but people claimed it was the best selling Ass Creed game. Another rare incel victory. I think the people working at Ubisoft should search for a new job. The ship is sinking fast.

They made 900mio in Q4!!!!! Lets assume their other stuff made them 300mio as in Q3....than Shadows made them 600mio. As much as I hate to admit it....but thats pretty successful. Its equal to 6-8mio copies sold. I cannot believe that myself, but where else should they get these revenues from?

Shadows blew Odyssey out of the water in terms of Twitch viewership, so you would think the inherent bigger word of mouth would translate to much better CCU on Steam.

It didn't

Another thing to point is that Valhalla did not come out on Steam until 2 years after release. So every single PC sale within those 2 years, Ubisoft brought home 100% of the revenue. Shadows came out on Steam day-and-date, so the revenue the PC platform brought back to Ubisoft is substantially lower.

That's why Valhalla is held in such high regard sales-wise.

Back then they didn't also have a string of flops in Star Wars Outlaws, Frontiers of Pandora, Skull and Bones, and more. Ubisoft's catalog was performing much better in 2021 even excluding AC, so it's not reasonable to expect positive numbers when the whole company is tanking. AC Shadows could be the sole bright spot and they'd still be in the red.

Awful comparison.

im tempted to buy a bunch right now... its only a matter of time till they get bought at this rate and that will give a decent immediate bump which i could dump immediately... tempting

Yep. Everyone knew that Shadows was never going to make a difference in Ubisoft's financial fortunes. We've been saying this long before the game launched.

The only point being made here about Valhalla, that I'm aware of, was that Ubisoft did not disclose sales numbers for the game. It was already widely know that Valhalla was their most successful AC game to date regardless of whether it was on Steam or not.

Again, it's the same price that it was a month ago... that's a market correction. If you think this was a tank what was the last month? A miraculous month?
Really? A month ago? Really? FFS get your head out of your ass, the entire market was down a ton because of Trump's moronic tariffs a month ago and then recovered. This drop is pretty real.

Too bad AC shadows was pretty good. Better than Valhalla. I wasn't really a fan of the black dude since he couldn't do anything, but it was fun to kill as the chick.

They were at 10.80 euro back in February before the tariffs went into effect. They're at 9.68 now...

They were at 85 euro in 2021... Anyone who thinks they're tanking now as opposed to what's happened to that company for the last 4-5 years simply isn't paying attention.

That's what you call tanking.

It is astonishing to see users defending this game when even Ubisoft itself wont disclosure numbers to shareholders...

It's easier for Ubisoft to make up artificial value of their franchises if no fixed number is given. Tencent is definitely got scammed on their deal with Ubisoft. AC, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six definitely are not worth 4 Billion Euro
