You'd be surprised by what media companies have lost because they didn't think their digital asset preservation plans through. It's entirely possible that Paramount can't remaster two Star Trek series because they don't have the CGI models and associated animation files to recreate the scenes.I have no information on this myself, but for some reason the "we lost the data" story always seemed a bit too easy an answer to me. I mean, really? They actually just lost the master data?
It would be cool if a journalist could dig into the Panzer Dragoon situation some more to verify things, no?
Platinum: "More Bayonetta news coming in 2015"
Actually SEGA EU promoted that some of their upcoming games will be shown at Gamescom, so...cross your fingers everybody X3
Honestly even if it's just the M2 ports that were released on PS3 and 360 a few years ago I'ld be pleased as those are fucking awesome ports.
Link?
Speaking to the outlet, Platinum's Akiko Kuroda stated I hope that we can do something related to the Bayonetta series in 2015 as well, so please keep an eye out for more from Bayonetta!
Yeah I was trying to find the source that said they were attending but couldn't. I could've sworn they said they were going to show new titles overall which sort of discounted ports of existing games.
A long time ago someone noted that Sega was releasing ports on a yearly basis (which I think is far too slow), so if they're revealing a new port for a November release then that person is validated.
In regards to Little Stone Software (group contracted by Sega Europe to develop Valkyria Chronicles PC) that group has essentially disbanded. The 4-man team is broken down like follows:
Person 1) Programmer that is still included in Little Stone, but hasn't updated anything past that. I sent this guy a thank you tweet a while back which he acknowledged. No news on this front.
Person 2) Lead Tester which has now left the game industry.
Person 3) UI/GFX Artist that has left the company and is seeking new opportunities.
Person 4) Was temporarily contracted from another company (professional software engineer that was familiar with coding on 7+ different console platforms), contract has very likely expired and he has made his linkedin private.
So if a new port is coming, it's very unlikely that it's coming from this group unless they went mass incognito. I'm curious as to what Sega's future is considering the demand for Shenmue 1 & 2 on modern hardware which is at its peak and the continuous demand for titles like Skies of Arcadia, and if it's not coming from Little Stone, then who? This kind of unstable development for highly demanded titles is somewhat depressing.
I forgot that the last title in the petition, and the one deemed "most difficult" was in fact the first to be ported.
SEGA is trolling hard xD
Let's hope Vanquish and VF5 arrive.
We've gone through this before, the port team that did VC has had a pattern of forming a shell company under Game Republic for a handful of contract jobs and then disbanding until they get themselves another contract. Same exact team that did VC's PC port were previously under the Devil's Details label and did Binary Domain and Sonic Generations.
Vanquish and Virtua Fighter 5FS would be a Day 1 for me if PC ports were to be announced.
Bayonetta for PC? If true, another reason for disconnect my PS3 soon.
Believe
PS3? There are already 2 better ways to play it that than, lol.
Don´t own a 360 now Wii U. Besides, never had problems with the game (installed it on HDD though).

I recently was listening to a story from Jeff Gerstmann at Giantbomb, talking about how there was actually I believe a PC port of Panzer Dragoon. There was some game service that you play some of that era Sega games on PC, I can't recall the name. The basic gist of the story was that Sega said "Heres the game, if you can get it working on PC then more power to you" and they actually did the work and made it happen. It was a pay-for service though so that port isn't accessible anymore, but apparently the developers did basically have to just reverse engineer it then port that to their PC service.

Guys SEGA is attending Gamescom, they're just not having a conference like everyone else, at least I don't think so.
SEGA Games Co. LTD and SEGA Europe will be both attending (Which seems kind of strange but I guess one might have to do with mobile only/SEGA Japan games?) and we know they'll be showcasing Warhammer there. They've announced ports and some new "minor" games at Gamescom in the past from my memory so we might get some good news there, fingers crossed.
Nights HD was based on the PS2 version of Nights. That Burning Rangers stuff sounds like a bunch of hot air.If you're just talking about the original Panzer Dragoon, there was an indeed a Windows port. Not sure if it works well on modern PCs, but Gametap was also several years ago. You may be referring to Panzer Dragoon Zwei, which was on the service, but I believe it was just running on an emulator.
Sega has never explicitly said one way or the other, but with speaking with some of them, I get the impression that they don't have any interest in releasing games in their original Saturn format (i.e. emulated). The 3D is ancient, and unlike the PS1, the system was a failure outside of Japan so there's not a lot of nostalgia for it. If there is source code available then they are willing to port them (Radiant Silvergun, Guardian Heroes, NiGHTs) and give them an extra spit polish. But even then, I'm not sure how well these performed, I don't think they were able to greenlight anymore. (i.e. The producer at SOJ mentioned the possibility of Burning Rangers if NiGHTs did well....which never happened so you can make the inference.)
The poor treatment of source code is an endemic problem across the Japanese industry, not just Sega.
Sega are at gamescom every year. They were there last year doing Alien Isolation Stuff and Football Manager. The year before they were there too.

Wasn't it a, welp, fucking calendar?
We were recently teased something special that was Bayonetta related during Christmas, but it ended up being a calendar. Bummer! No worries though as Platinum Games recently confirmed to 4Gamer that they want to do more Bayonetta related things in the future.
Okay this thread was bumped right before their Gamescom stuff, I'm gonna be very upset if there's nothing announced.
I could have sworn Vanquish was on PC.

Old post, but I could see someone like Sumo getting work to port this. From what I remember, they did their own port of Transformed for PC and did some fairly heavy lifting in "porting" Forza Horizon 2 to 360 (which required some heavy lifting and was far from basic). So if a new port is coming, it's very unlikely that it's coming from this group unless they went mass incognito. get hype for Sega titles on PC

Still 4 more days of Gamescom.

I hope you like Total War.
The tweets from that other thread was specifically about ports. Neither Total War nor Halo Wars 2 are ports.Does Halo Wars 2 count? That's sort of a new SEGA PC game. :V
I think it's time we hang it up boys. Nothing is coming.
They announced the Valkyria chronicles port on halloween. They don't need gamescom
