New Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 screenshots: Now with cel-shading!

I feel like they're focusing on making it look better, so they can get it out the door quick, and grab whatever sales they can get, before the reviews murder it.

I could be wrong, though. Maybe it's the best skateboard game ever. :D

This looks like crap, i fear how bad the reviews will be. It also looks like a game that will end up in PS+/GWG and everyone will bitch about it again.

Its like the game is trying to be a 90's style game but no one was told how 90's to make it.

The last real game was Proving Ground right? Does anyone have high res screen shots of it? It's got to look better than this.

Cel shading definitely helps make it look more presentable, but I wasn't really complaining about the visuals in the first place.

As long as the gameplay's good, I'll be pleased!

Every time I take a sip of my beverage I spit it out as soon as I read the next post. My god this thread delivers.

I like how they've just randomly pasted some character models in the background to make things look more exciting.

Shame they forgot to include shadows for them.

As terrible as this game looks, they didn't. The shadow is clearly visible in the second pic and the angles in the first and third pics would make the shadow be offscreen. If they were gonna bother bullshotting this, they would at least downsample the screenshots before literally Photoshopping pics. Plus, the multiplayer/online interaction is basically the only selling point of the game that they've tried to show off.

it's like when you first discover image filters when you're polishing up your dope geocities backdrop.

This is what happens when your boss wanted a mobile game and you wanted a console game.

Fail.

Sad

I'm guessing is was the opposite. Robomodo were in the middle of making Pro Skater Mobile when Activision decided they could sell it for $60 instead.

Seems like a last minute decision due to feedback.

I'm reserving judgement until seeing it in motion.

This just hurts, years ago (in the throws of RIDE...) this would have been a dream idea (actually get a Tony Hawk # sequel). But not like this....

It needed to be a downloadable title, with modular map packs, and a solid engine/physics. Like Zen Pinball version of Tony Hawk.

ugh.

"Hey, so everyone thinks the project looks like a PS2/XBOX game." "Really? I think it looks great! Let's just go ahead and change the art style, surely it'll be well accepted then!"

No.

that classic visual trick for when your game looks bland: half-assed outlines on your characters

the Borderlands approach

That's the moment a reasonable operating company would cancel that game because it would bomb anyway and it would damage or the destroy the brand.

There's nothing left of the brand to destroy. The games budget is also probably so small even a meager amount of sales will make it worthwhile.
