New Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 screenshots: Now with cel-shading!

We need to go deeper

You'd think that the cel shading would be just one of a bunch of toggles on a cheats menu. Would make more sense as it's been that way in previous TH games. Hopefully it plays like a good Pro Skater game.

I'd love a new SaD or SoD at this point.

You see what happens Activision!!? This is what happens when you fuck a stranger in the ass.

The gull to slap the Tony Hawk 5 name on this fucking title. For a full fledged Tony Hawk main entry to the series, a company as big as Acitvision could have pretty easily afforded a proper AAA team to work on development. Instead they take the absolute cheapest and easiest possible route and assign Robomodo to it, who so far have only managed to spit out middling to sub-par Tonk Hawk offshoots and a THPS1 remake that missed the mark. Maybe someone higher up has a real problem with their extended deal to produce Tony Hawk games and is just setting this up for what looks like an inevitable failure. I mean I can't see anyone there actually believing that this is a genuinely good idea.

Spot on.

Activision has got the be the stupidest gaming company ever. If anybody took one look at this game, it would've been canceled. The only way this could be gotten away with is if you're working on as shoestring budget.

If Crackdown turns your XBox One into the most powerful console ever made, what does Tony Hawk 5 do to it?

I just realized after 15 pages of memes, that the character model is SUPPOSED to be Tony Hawk.....THE fuck Activision I thought it was a random NPC

On one hand the photoshops are hilarious, but on the other I just think about how this is likely the real death of one of the best franchises to come out of the PSone era. :/ I really hope that they can pull the gameplay off. The groundwork is there for them. Don't fuck it up!

And unfortunately a few jobs. This is just an abomination at this point

Death? It's been dead. This is the desecration of the corpse.

The THPS brand up to this point has been incredible. That's why many of us were so excited when it was announced. It wasn't Tony Hawk Ride, Tony Hawk's Underground, or Tony Hawk's Proving Ground, it was the next entry in the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater brand. I just don't get how they can mess it up.

Around E3, I remember hearing one of the devs say on some podcast or interview that it was Tony Hawk's idea to name this game THPS5, after it was already in development under a working title.

They said it was because Tony thought it felt so much like the original games that they just had to name it 5. If that's all to be believed, of course. Pretty sure I heard it on one of the E3 Bombcasts.

Sounds like the PR line they're instructed to give out. If Tony Hawk, who I feel at this point is pretty out of touch with video games, is allowed to make a decision like that, well that would lend credence to the idea that Activision doesn't really give a shit about what's happening with the series at this point. Let Tony deal with this garbage, we have Call of Duty maps to make.

I get what you're saying but I disagree. The brand is "Tony Hawk". The subtitle following the star's name means nothing to most people in regards to this series. No one says "Did you see that new 'Pro Skater' game?", they say "Oh look, a new Tony Hawk" or in this case "LOL a new Tony Hawk". "Underground", "Proving Ground", "Project 8" and even "Ride" are part of the "Tony Hawk" brand. Sorry.

The Pro Skater games have all been solid, 1-4, your point is sound. But nobody at Activision is holding a torch for the "Pro Skater" line. Honestly, at this point, I don't see how you could hold any hope for this game (after its initial reveal) given how Activision has basically thrown the game into a burlap sack and beat it with a shovel then dumped the pulpy mess out, cel shaded it and offered it up like nothing is wrong.

Obviously something is wrong.

Look at it.

Pro Skater 5 is going to be the first bad game in the line. That's pretty much just the truth of it, sadly.

They were making a pretty big deal about how active Tony Hawk actually is in the development of these games. It didn't actually sound like they were making it up. Like, they went as far as saying that he basically has the veto power on all design decisions, etc.

EDIT: This was the episode: http://www.giantbomb.com/podcasts/e3-2015-giant-bomb-s-day-2-live-broadcast/1600-1251/

Then Tony Hawk should not make game design decisions.
Yeahh..seems pretty clear he is the wrong person to be in charge of a game's development, especially looking at what's going on with this game and the series as a whole the past 6 years.

lol this seems ridiculous, why would you let Tony decide anything concerning the game other than the name :D

Next time Miyamoto gets into a new Mario game he will get a guy from italy named Mario Mario to help him out....lets see how this works :D

This thread keeps on giving...
