"Hey guys wanna come check out the new Tony Hawk 5?"

This thread is absolute gold, you guys. GOLD.
You see what happens Activision!!? This is what happens when you fuck a stranger in the ass.
The gull to slap the Tony Hawk 5 name on this fucking title. For a full fledged Tony Hawk main entry to the series, a company as big as Acitvision could have pretty easily afforded a proper AAA team to work on development. Instead they take the absolute cheapest and easiest possible route and assign Robomodo to it, who so far have only managed to spit out middling to sub-par Tonk Hawk offshoots and a THPS1 remake that missed the mark. Maybe someone higher up has a real problem with their extended deal to produce Tony Hawk games and is just setting this up for what looks like an inevitable failure. I mean I can't see anyone there actually believing that this is a genuinely good idea.
I feel so, so bad for the team working on this game. They must read threads like this and cry at night.
This one got me.

On one hand the photoshops are hilarious, but on the other I just think about how this is likely the real death of one of the best franchises to come out of the PSone era. :/ I really hope that they can pull the gameplay off. The groundwork is there for them. Don't fuck it up!
Death? It's been dead. This is the desecration of the corpse. On one hand the photoshops are hilarious, but on the other I just think about how this is likely the real death of one of the best franchises to come out of the PSone era. :/ I really hope that they can pull the gameplay off. The THPS brand up to this point has been incredible. That's why many of us were so excited when it was announced. It wasn't Tony Hawk Ride, Tony Hawk's Underground, or Tony Hawk's Proving Ground, it was the next entry in the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater brand. I just don't get how they can mess it up.
Sounds like the PR line they're instructed to give out. If Tony Hawk, who I feel at this point is pretty out of touch with video games, is allowed to make a decision like that, well that would lend credence to the idea that Activision doesn't really give a shit about what's happening with the series at this point. Let Tony deal with this garbage, we have Call of Duty maps to make.Around E3, I remember hearing one of the devs say on some podcast or interview that it was Tony Hawk's idea to name this game THPS5, after it was already in development under a working title.
They said it was because Tony thought it felt so much like the original games that they just had to name it 5. If that's all to be believed, of course. Pretty sure I heard it on one of the E3 Bombcasts.
umm what.
Did they really just changed the aesthetics of the game? who does that loool

They were making a pretty big deal about how active Tony Hawk actually is in the development of these games. It didn't actually sound like they were making it up. Like, they went as far as saying that he basically has the veto power on all design decisions, etc.

Yeahh..seems pretty clear he is the wrong person to be in charge of a game's development, especially looking at what's going on with this game and the series as a whole the past 6 years. Then Tony Hawk should not make game design decisions.
