Not sure how I feel about having to babysit my base. Feels like WoW garrison's a bit, with the mission structures and sending your team on missions. Having to keep morale of your team up sounds like it could be tedious. I hope this isn't the case.
It's been clarified over and over, but you can turn off invasions whenever, but the game has limited non-respawning resources, so at some point you will run out of stuff to fulton and collect and you'll want the FOB to continue growing your army, but by that point the story will have most likely finished.FOB seems separate from you main motherbase, so I assume that unless you assign stuff to your FOB they won't be able to steal.
No, because Peace Walker did this already, you could do any side mission with anyone in the combat group of motherbase.Anyone else kind of surprised that this is the first Metal Gear since 2 where you can play as a character other than Snake?
Seeing the player control one of the field soldiers felt weird to me. But kind of cool if they don't have access to all the abilities Snake does. It's a good in-universe justification for having missions where the player is stripped of certain abilities they become reliant on.

The resources you lose when another player invades... are those just things that the FOB was gathering for you, or can they steal things you've earned as part of the single player campaign?
Like if you've extracted soldiers and sheep, will the invader be able to take them if you haven't assigned the sheep and soldiers to the FOB?
Cue the people who make an FOB and just leave it bare. Just to get what rewards they can get without risking anything from the MB.

You can already allow ocelot or miller or whoever to run the base for you. And it doesn't seem that much a chore to just stop by a soldier, take a shower, and maybe do some of the trials or random events. Basically it seems like it's not a waste of time or time consuming. The only thing you would need to do is choose your upgrades. Not sure how I feel about having to babysit my base. Speaking of that, has it ever been mentioned whether or not we can choose, officially, who our second in command is? I was watching the Quiet trailer yesterday and remember Miller telling the soldiers to shoot her and Ocelot preventing the soldiers from shooting Quiet. The soldiers looked confused and unsure what to do.
Seems like a point of contention that should be solved by Boss himself.
Sorry if this question is obvious or something. I'm just getting into Metal Gear and don't actually know that much. Currently watching Peace Walker movie on YouTube.
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops says hi. In fact, its camo system was based around using other characters in missions, each one with varying stats and abilities (uniques). But yeah, using other characters should be balanced based on stats.
No that's actually a good question. I would imagine Kaz is canonically the 2nd, but Ocelot isn't someone to fuck with... Maybe Mother Base's troops are just really bad at the whole "shoot-first" thing.
uhhh, you could play as MSF soldiers in Peace Walker

It might be a case of Kaz being the second in command, but Ocelot being the general of the Mother Base military. It seems like he trains the soldiers, so they probably have a greater respect for him than they do for Kaz, and an even greater respect for Big Boss.

You could do it in Peace Walker, too, and you could actually find soldiers with better stats than Big Boss had. What exactly the stats actually meant in gameplay terms I was never too clear on, but it did seem like my boy Yellowtail was more resistant to damage than BB was.

Soldiers never felt much weaker than Snake, but the S Rank soldiers late game were sometimes better all round.
The stats didn't make what I'd call a real significant difference in combat, but you could find special soldiers who were basically maxed out, higher than Big Boss, but they were pretty rare.I can't remember how it exactly was in Peace Walker but were they stat based and did any soldier match BB if so?
Popular enough to base MGSV off I suppose, actually Peace Walker was initially intended to be MGS5 but Kojima changed his mind since it wasn't a console MGS game.Still though, I never got the impression that Peace Walker was a very popular title. I'm glad to see that much of its' unique design is carrying over to something more grandiose.

Yes, there were soldiers with stats even greater than Big Boss! Was awesome to find the maxed out stat guys/gals-- made going back to Big Boss a bit hard tho 😅😅😅
Have they said how many people can invade or defend your base at a time? I'm assuming its just a one on one thing.

Are the invasions still possible even when you're offline? Or are they only a thing that happens when you're playing.
my understanding is that Motherbase will be invaded offline as part of the single-player campaign, and that FOBs are an online PVP equivalent. Are the invasions still possible even when you're offline? Or are they only a thing that happens when you're playing.
A Q&A with the official Metal Gear Twitter account suggests that MGSV is going to have the Peace Walker difficulty system, which is to say no difficulty options at all. "More difficult activities in the game come in other forms", whatever that means.
I have 100%ed Ground Zeroes. Is it assured that I will have everything unlocked for TPP? What if I extracted those two enemy soldiers in that side mission but then killed them in a subsequent playthrough? Will the game consider that I have extracted them or killed them ?
Hmm, I don't think I like this. We'll see.

Uuuuugh I need to upgrade muh rig then.
If imma do it for any game it'll be for MGS5.
getting warned when the invader gets caught would make more sense in realistic terms, but getting warned when invader invades makes more sense in terms of gameplay I think.

oh wow never knew you can transfer saves over lol im only at 41% though what do you get if to do this???
“People who own GZ will be able to play a different mission(s) at Camp Omega in TPP. That’s the current plan. There’s something of a big feature involved. It’s never been done in the games industry before. So I can’t go into detail about it, but I think when you experience it for yourselves you’ll be surprised. It’s something that’s only possible through video games.”

TPP will not allow you to choose difficulty on first play through.
There are extras unlockable in the side ops in GZ too. Such as Glaz and Paltiz, Hideo, etc. It doesn't matter what difficulty you do it on. But GZ doesn't even have Easy mode does it? Normal is the easiest difficulty.
I kinda like that... So everyone starts on normal on first playthrough?
And anyone know exactly what carries over from Ground Zeroes? Do I need to extract all prisoners, get S rank, etc?

soo guys im just about to preorder the psn version of this and it says play on 9-01-2015 midnight pacific time
what the fuuuuck
i thought they stopped doing this fucked up shit...I'm on est...

Nobody knows at the moment, but the best guess is all the characters who give 'special' notifications when you extract them. That'd be all the POWs, Chico and Paz, Glaz and Palitz, Hideo Kojima, and the two contacts in the classified data mission.
There's something I dont understand with FOB Invasion: Is it a real time mode ? Like you invade someone base and that person fights back in real time ?
Yeah there's a simple reason for that. You can't (or well, shouldn't encourage) the entire planet to download it at the same time and if they put it at EST they'd have a far higher peak server load in the first hour.
