When traveling to majors, I would say...

1st. Your main game. Every other game is just for fun/waste time. Focus all your time on this shit.
2nd: Your side bitch game. The one you kinda, sorta play when you get annoyed/salty/frustrated on your main game. You usually get top 4 on your locals because you actually practice some stuff, but nothing to really worry about when pools start.
3rd: Ultra. Everyone plays it. Just do it. Stop whining. Worst you can do is like 1-2, you'll be able to take someone out if you play decently, seriously. You'll get a casual/scrub in losers side if you kinda play, and you can say you took someone out.
4th (if even): Old school game. ST or CVS2 most likely, Darkstalkers sometimes. They're just fun any time, really. Just pray you don't go 0-2 against real killers.

Then any other shenanigans like mystery game tournaments, team tournaments, divekick, that gundam game, catherine. Make sure to be drunk, or at least in a good mood and enjoy.

United delayed my initial flight because of maintenance to the plane and they booked me for a later flight out of San Francisco to Narita. Then the flight to SF got delayed again to 12pm. Making me miss the rebooked flight. They were a step ahead of me and booked me on the direct to Narita from Seattle though.

They gave me food vouchers but apparently they don't work or the lady at the restaurant was BSing me. Then ANA gave me an invite to the lounge but the lady at the lounge turned me away. Super pretty gate agent got mad and called her for me, lol.

Still, fuck airplane maintenance. >=| It's keeping me away from street fighter and Gundam.

I don't touch Xrd like at all. I have my own things to not like about it and I don't game hop easily.

Persona is 7+ months out on a balance patch stuck between two publishers. All I can do right now is play the same 10 or less people who are really competitive on repeat since larger tournaments and international comp are out of the picture. If that situation doesn't change somewhat soon I'm gonna stop practicing it. I'll play it cause I love it, but I can't justify travelling to tournaments for that primarily.

FADC is the only distinctly SF4 thing about it; I dislike it too in its current form, and that seems to be the general concensus, so hopefully it will get tuned. It has the pace of an SF game, but the characters have more flair to them (I want them to get even crazier with the loadouts/specials in the future).

Just out of curiosity, what do you play?

It feels like SF4 because Seth was instrumental in developing SF4, and it plays to a lot of his preferences.

I should mention that I got a chance to play Tekken 7 at Round 1 last week, and Lucky Chloe looks pretty creepy during her win poses. The whole design of this character would work well in a horror film provided that some lighting was changed

Also just to tag you, we have Danisen at the arcade now and one of the games is Yata, there's a dedicated cab up on both the weekly fight nights. We've only done one night so far and I'm on top, with that Aja who got top 8 at Evo behind me. Him getting top 8 has turned into one of our best local in jokes btw, since I got bopped early by Trophyclub.

Ditto. I'm hoping that the extended down time is also due to Capcom's adding something more to the nest Beta. Like a local vs mode or more online modes.

Things like that are why I want communities to never try to directly tie into the fgc because of things like that. Some might have called the DOA not being in evo a bad thing but since it has it's own scene separated from things it has it's own little side thing that unfortunatly for me are at in oppurtune times, but atleast there are events.

I think Anime games are half way there with them having their own thing but they are beholden to arc sys who only see the west as a secondary market.

KOF is extra unfortunate because SNK never knew how to handle that game.

I will always stand by build up your scene then the fgc will be forced to accept you and when you are in like smash your scene will be strong enough to stand on it's own.

SCR UMVC3 is going to be very interesting and is going to set the tone for the rest of the year until EVO for the game. Lots of salty Americans especially Socal players that got shafted at EVO so they want to get that SCR win to defend the home turf. Either they get motivated to compete harder and put on a good show or they just fade away with loss of interest in the game.
