^ also is how VF looks to me

Rookiejet, want to play now?

Yeah, but she just wants to get in and RTSD, and she doesn't have a lot of interesting neutral tools.

She doesn't have traps.
No puppet.
No real projectiles.
No armor (right?).
Her normals are too stubby to space people out.

I am not seeing how my description is inaccurate. She is a very straightforward rushdown character. She wants to get in that ass and never leave, and her only way of getting in is rushing in. She can't play like Rachel and cover her approach with wind + pumpkin, or summon a sword on top of you.

It's cool to like a basic character like that. I watched 6 minutes of that video and didn't see any conflicting evidence. She is a lot like Jam in her toolset, though Jam is probably a more complicated character due to her charge system. You have fantastic fundamentals, so you excel with a character like that. My fundamentals are just decent, so I need to pick the cheap stuff. ;)

Was Makoto throwing out that orb and jump blocking an attempt to bait out a DP? She kept doing that, but never got anything off of it.

it's like a balanced version of millia's disk so yup.

and having to make reads 24/7 and bait is not straightforward you need to know the whole cast. To me a straight forward rushdown character doesnt need to worry much and can do what they want.

She's basic in the options you work with sense but it requires a lot of work to be good with it

You know what Q? If they make Xrd lobbies like BB ones, I will dive in to the next version.

Ah, I see where we are conflicting.

To you, "straightforward" means that you get to play your gameplan out without serious opposition. I...don't think that character exists in most games.

To me, "straightforward" means that your game plan has a clear path due to either limited options or a set of options being so good that you always want to utilize them.

Lambda isn't straightforward, because no matter where she is on the screen, she has several warp swords she can use to take control of the neutral. She has a good number of options to consider at any one point, and there is rarely a clear cut best option. She may even want to approach, or use Gravity (caution: I have no idea how Lambda plays now; speaking from a CS perspective).

Rachel isn't straightforward because you have to weigh various projectiles to put on the screen, when to use your wind in the neutral, how to aim the wind, when to light up the seed posts, etc. You can zone, then wind in and rush, etc. She has a lot of options in the neutral.

Makoto has a limited option set of options, and she always has the same goal: get in ASAP with a good melee hit. In my mind, she is very straightforward.

Sure. I'm jumping on now
Getting on now.

Arc Divide at UGC in SoCal is going on today, and we have 3 streams going.

www.twitch.tv/ROTANIBOR
-Hokuto no Ken (starts shortly), and Vampire Savior after that.

www.twitch.tv/numakie
-Currently streaming Persona, moving onto Guilty Gear Xrd

www.twitch.tv/UGClive
-Currently streaming BlazBlue, moving onto Skullgirls and then something else afterwards.

Not sure who is going to stream it, but we also have UNIEL, GG+R, and a few other games coming up as well. Kind of just deciding who streams what as the games come up.

Sorry for the piss poor showing so far, rookiejet. All of my setups aren't panning out for some reason. Does Sin have fewer pre-jump frames than some other characters? I am not used to people being able to just jump out of the sandwich, but maybe I am just not performing tight enough.

My execution is terrible all over the place. Not sure what is wrong with me tonight. :/

I think BB does it better. You have complete control over how you get up, but if lay down too long you can be hit for a new combo.
That is cool. If I knew I had to think about it, I would be fine with it. But I hate my muscle memory fucking up all of my setups because of this awful decision.

May I also join your lobby? If our connections sucks, I will just leave or just watch. I'm pretty bad but I want to get some Sin/zato experience
Sure.

No, I don't think you're performing it tight enough (also I'm a dumbass who will attempt to jump out anyways instead of just blocking). Also your neutral and reads are waaay more on-point, I'm getting by with your lack of knowledge of the match-up (and Sin's damage). Don't respect the pressure I'm doing, you can mash in a lot of places where I end a string (I don't go for frametraps as often)

Alright, I need to tighten it up,then. Usually I spend time in training mode to practice the loop before fighting.

When should I be mashing out? I know I can beat the overhead with 2H, but I mash it too soon and get counterhit.

karst you gotta stop jumpin' dude, whenever you're in neutral your first instinct is to start flying around when that's super dangerous

But Baiken is also standard anime nonsense.

A lot less standard than Justice.

I mean, I can't remember how many other times I've seen a female samurai with a grappling hook in the place of a missing arm, but I can name several instances of a person in a robot suit known as a gear.

Against me, when I end in 2d. Against a better player, mind the amount of food meter they have. They might late cancel 2p>2k>2d into Elk Hunt (slide) to frame trap you, and or frame trap you in that string itself, and or late cancel Elk Hunt into Beak Driver, or Beak Driver into its multi-hit followup

edit: how about u play honest chars, Q huh >:|

Any fighting game players that does not play western fighting games disparage other fighting games as anime, well they are hypocrites. :E

Okay, so she is an actual robot? Still not a very interesting character design in my opinion.

Gears have nothing to do with robots.

Gears are artificial magical creatures created with the intention to advance evolution, but were eventually produced to be biological weapons of war. They are not a species of their own; they are "altered" versions of existing ones. Gears run on instinct and turn out to be little more than killing machines, but some - especially those derived from human subjects - are able to retain their free will.

Gears are bioweapons. Justice is just a former human who became a gear. Just like Sol. She's also Dizzy's mum. :P

Also remember Sol is a gear. He is the FIRST and is the titular guilty gear.

Guilty Gear has a pretty decent story. Sadly some of it is in small novels and radio plays in Japanese. But yeah Justice was a beaitiful lady that was turned into a gear.

Okay, so I'll take the L on her backstory. That's cool. It's also not really my point.

My point is that this:

Isn't a very interesting design in the grand scheme of Guilty Gear characters. If they choose to make her look the way that she does in the pic that you shared earlier though, that's a different story.

Her design is to be a subversion. They wanted a the character to not be what people expect her to be. These guys kill me though, the director did not want people to creepy on May and Millia so he made Dizzy to grab all the creepers then trolls them by saying she's 3. XD

I get that, and that's great for the lore monsters, but at the end of the day what you are seeing during the match is anime/manga mecha 101, and I just don't find that interesting compared to a lot of the more inspired and crazy shit that they have going on in that series.

A good tip is that trying to convince someone that what they find interesting is not interesting will never work. I mean if you're making a personal statement then that's fine obviously, but if your intent is to convince then I think you'll find that your success rate will be around 0%.

I don't think I'm trying to convince anyone that it shouldn't be interesting to them. I'm just saying that I think that A.B.A's design is a lot more interesting than Justice's design, and would rather see her take a spot in Xrd. At least unless they go a completely different direction with Justice than they have in the past.
