Thanks for the games, Karst, Seyavesh! I wanted to play you guys some more, but I don't want you to have to reset the room on my account (also I know you're not a fan of lines, Karst). Good games, guys
GGs guys. Every time I play I have to relearn so many things because I play so infrequently. I need to play an easier character, lol.
I can't watch multiple parts of the screen at all. If Eddie isn't out, I am fantastic at anti-airing. If Eddie is out, I default to blocking when someone air dashes. I just can't handle Zato's neutral.
I am probably switching once Testament or Dizzie get added.
ggs karst
fair enough
you need to use your grounded tools to scare me into doin' stuff so you can anti-air me.
by flying you're effectively removing your strongest screen control tools and letting me bulldog you.
when you started staying grounded and using lil eddie to defend yourself while keeping me scared with drills i started losing- eating hits from antiair cr.HS and nobirus chunkin' off my health
airdashes and jumps are good but when you fly, especially without 'lil eddie covering you it's asking for a bad situation
you also need to cover 'lil eddie more- by letting him extend out away from you i can effectively take a trade and start going somewhat ham since you gotta start committing more to moves to keep me out
this is something i'm 5000% guilty of too but also learn the gaps in blockstrings or general idea behind 'em anyways- when you see sol do gunflame off anything it's possible to IAD forward and punish him assuming he doesn't fake it. at the very least you can iad back/jump/superjump out and potentially get out of a sketchy situation
All good advice. I will respond:
If you see me float in the neutral, it is almost always a bad input. I am trying to super jump air dash past you like I successfully did in some of those later matches, but Xrd is so strict on the inputs that I get a normal jump a lot of the time. If I air dash out of a normal jump, I am free, so I usually float as a backup measure. You're right that it gets me into trouble, but I am trying to make the best of a bad situation. It is happening more on my new stick, because I am not used to the Hayabusa yet. Not sure if I like it still.
If I ever fly randomly, it's because I love flight characters in every game I play, and going into the air is good with all of them except for Zato. So there is an instinct there that doesn't play out well here.
I am really bad at controlling Eddie in the neutral. My fundamentals are really solid, but if Eddie is out he takes much of my attention that I can't manage him and Zato. It isn't that I don't want to protect Eddie, it's that I literally can't do it even when I try my best. I have kind of come to be satisfied with sacrificing him for a 2H drill counterhit when he goes down, lol.
I had no idea Gunflame was punishable. Thank you for that. I am usually pretty good at knowing when strings end, but ASW games don't work well with my head. I always think I can move, but I can't yet. It is like Marvel levels of offense, but without a pushblock mechanic. I eat lots of counterhits because I have trouble knowing when it is safe. I started to super jump out of your strings in the last few matches, but in general I don't know when things are safe for me to move. I am really not a fan of how ASW does their animations. They don't tell you jack about their safety. So many attacks "feel" unsafe by their animations, but aren't. Sometimes an aerial looks like it will land next to Zato, so I go for a throw, but the game just...pushes the opponent out at the last second. My brain isn't good with that kind of fuckery.
Also, I need to stop punishing with combos. Zato's combos are so shitty and inconsistent. I would kill for a consistent mid-range combo that leads to a knockdown, or for his strings to be consistent in general.
Thanks for the feedback, and great Sol. I love your various grab setups. Looking forward to being able to tech those in the future.
