Can't stand those things. But i've seen them being used by all skin colours.
Maybe it's different in the u.s. where i live the general consensus is that these things are douchebag material.

One thing I've been noticing recently is that the only people I ever see wearing bluetooth headsets for their cell phones are black people. Has anyone else observed this trend? If so, does anyone have any possible explanations for this trend? I don't really have any ideas, and it's been making me curious.

I'm a student of the social sciences, these kinds of things interest me.

We should be asking more questions about the OP so we can find out how he came to this conclusion. For example, do you attend Morehouse college?

Do I win a prize for talking about my penis on the Internet???

What makes someone using a BT headset more annoying than someone who is holding the phone to their ear? I don't get it.
For me it just looks odd, first you think they are talking to themselves, then you think they may be talking to you, then you see the headset and realize you hate this world.

OP I have noticed it too and I'm glad someone said something. 85% of the people I see wearing blue tooth headsets are black, and I am curious as to why that is as well. The other 15% are white guys in business suits.

Yes I have seen the same. Also Soccermoms.
So the intersection of the two (black soccermoms) would be doubly likely to use them? I suppose that agrees with my experiences...

Wasn't there a Boondocks episode about this?
Posted on the first page.

You're just scared of black people so you pay extra attention to what they're doing when they're around you.
I wouldn't have gone to school in DC if I were afraid of black people. Or tried to date one of my black classmates, for that matter (she friendzoned me btw).

BTW I am white and occasionally use one. It's a stereo headset that also plays music, made by Plantronics. My car has built in BT thought so I don't use it too often.

Also, it's easier to browse the web and talk at the same time on my iPhone if I use a BT headset.

Its mostly used by business people therefore it makes common folk feel/seem more important than they actually are. AKA "I'm so important that I have to have an earpiece attached to the side of my head at all times because I get sooo many calls"

Those of you with the hands free excuse could just put the shit on speaker and put it on your lap or center console.

^I've seen people do that with turbans.

Latter link is incredibly petty and immature stuff. Alyssa Bereznak level shit.

I typed bluetooth douchebag into Google and it came up. I don't know who Alyssa Bereznak is, but I assume that's bad.

I was just surprised he'd never heard of bluetooth backlash before.

People who wear bluetooth headsets around think they are hot shit. In reality its painfully obvious they are broke and think their $80 ear toy is some kind of status symbol. Like they've somehow made 'it", joined some elusive and elite club of folk who can afford a smart phone, a data plan and a bluetooth headset.

Has nothing to do with race and everything to do with class, or lack thereof.

So is not being black the reason why I never use my Bluetooth headset, despite recently getting a ticket for using my phone while driving?

Sorry for the negro-bump but can someone explain this? I work at a restaurant and yesterday I saw three different black women come in wearing and using their headsets. I see it ALL the time and I'm relatively certain I'm not noticing this selectively.

Three Black women? Doesn't seem like a high enough sample to really formulate an opinion on.

Since my last post my bluetooth headset broke and I don't use much any anything these days.

EDIT: Holy shit, how did I miss "negro-bump". Not cool man.

I mostly see big fat white dudes using them tbh

Hahaha, what? Can't tell if this thread and the bump are serious or not.

Some people don't like putting their smartphone up to their ear, so bam, bluetooth solves that. It also make talking on the phone while driving legal in a number of states.

Bluetooth headsets were originally a status symbol of sorts, you had to have the latest phone to support it, plus the cash to throw at a $100 headset. Basically the original Beats.

Guess some people haven't gotten the memo.
