Pokken Tournament for Wii U (Spring 2016 WW) Announced at Pokemon World Championships

mercy that damage from those punches while powered up..... I looked away for like a second and the Gardevoir lost like 75% health.

I can't tell if this a good match up for Garde, or a horrible one. Cuz it looks like a horrible one.

Yeah. I love the early meta game for fighting games. So much theory fighter. We will see. Still too early to determine anything, though.

Yeah those portraits should be of the Pokemon not the generic trainers
Other than paying attention to moving health bars, I can't tell which character is which health if I miss the intro.
The UI seems a little messy to me. There's too much going on. Maybe it'll be better on Wii U.

The UI is fine.

You're having confusion because the screen always favors the player pokemon, which is the big bar on the bottom.

Wait, people think the two players share the camera? No no no.

Each player has his own screen, hence why the arcade is only suited for one player (so you need at least two for a local match). Therefore each player has their own perspective/camera.

It's why I'm wondering how the Wii U would do it.

One player uses the gamepad for his screen.

The health bar on bottom is for the pokemon that the camera is favoring. I don't think it's really a problem.

why? it doesn't matter since the UI is for you only

Because it's an extremely minor thing that should just be there instead of something you have to figure out, even if it's not hard to figure out.

You're really saying it's difficult to know which bar belongs to which pokemon?

Hint: Bottom bar belongs to the pokemon the camera is following.

I'm saying it's harder than it should be. Every other game you just look and you know. Here, you have to look, think, figure it out, make a conclusion. Even if it's simple and easy, having to go through that process is one of the pillars of bad UI.

Eh it doesn't. It's pretty much the big life bar vs. your opponent's so it's a cue that it's yours.

And personally I like it that it doesn't have a name. Remember how Pokemon trainers prefer to name their mons? It's probably a touch like that.

HugS applying his classic conditioning. Interesting to see him picking a more Agressive character instead of a zoning/defensive.

I was thinking about the fightstick situation on wiiu

hopefully pokken supports the Smash gamecube adapter so there's a wired option for tourneys
