Let's consider this analogy for a moment.

Piracy is against the law, like illegal immigration. There is a possibility, that, with half a trillion dollars spent and a huge amount of personal liberties violated, we could "solve the problem" of piracy.

Would people in this thread view that action as something other than politicians kissing up to big business and hurting everyday citizens? No, outside of one or two assholes, no one would. Spending massive amounts of money to "follow the law" isn't always about the actual law.

If I recall correctly, he didn't really walk back much on his comments about single payer in the debate, either. Good chance he is more progressive than Hillary on this issue.

One of the funniest things that I can imagine would be this chain of events:

1. Trump wins the presidency
2. Along with Republicans, repeals Obamacare
3. Republican congress passes single-payer, touting that they really fixed health care while Obamacare was simply a handout to the insurance companies

Republicans are too reliant on insurance money to ever do this. Odds are they will go private without state lines and introduce the voucher system or whatever it was.

I'm leaning towards the idea that a campaign that was started by asking a black guy for his birth certificate for 5 straight years is racist. I'm going out on a limb here.

I like this analogy.

It's in no way cost effective to hunt down every person living in this country illegally and forcing them out, but that's what the idea of deporting all of them constitutes.

I live in Texas, my son's grandfather is an illegal immigrant, I'm a first gen good ole white boy descendant with 2500 acres all owned by my grandpa who sells his grass-fed beef to George Bush Jr's family themselves. But anyway yes the way we see immigrants in Texas is very out of touch, especially because most of us are used to dealing with things like that a little brashly

Hillary has EXTREMELY high support and approval numbers among African Americans, and they don't like Bernie at all. At one point it was something crazy like 90-10 Hillary. Hispanics weren't AS high but still lopsided.

And there have been issues yes, but these fluctuations have not caused a definite fallout. I think it's very hard for Bernie to become relevant to African-Americans when they already have a good rapport with Clinton.

As for Hispanics it's not such a long-running approval from what I can gather, but she still seems to be the only one on their map. Once again, I find it hard for Bernie to make himself relevant.

So I extrapolated "they feel there's no other candidate" with "swooned". Fair, that is certainly not the case, but I don't see who else is relevant to minorities
