Let's consider this analogy for a moment.
Piracy is against the law, like illegal immigration. There is a possibility, that, with half a trillion dollars spent and a huge amount of personal liberties violated, we could "solve the problem" of piracy.
Would people in this thread view that action as something other than politicians kissing up to big business and hurting everyday citizens? No, outside of one or two assholes, no one would. Spending massive amounts of money to "follow the law" isn't always about the actual law.
