Street Fighter V Roster Discussion: P-P-P-P-PATTERN BREAKER

Mika would be a nice addition. Adds another grappler, another female, another character that has not appeared in a long while, and most importantly (well hopefully) some much needed wackiness to the game overall.

I suck with grapplers tho..sooooooo

Guy is american IIRC. He and Cody grew up together in MetroCity (which is probably Detroit). Not sure if he is Asian American or not tho

Ah, okay yeah I guessed he was probably Asian American.

I'm going to guess Remy and Poison are natural blondes. It's really hard to get those bright hair colors if you are starting with a darker base.

I just really hope they get Mika right (aka decent moveset, if there's a visual design I hope it doesn't make me facepalm) :o

I noticed some peeps saying that Ono had mentioned liking Ingrid, but as far as I know it's Harada who's stated he liked her, going so far as to get a picture draughted up showing Ingrid and Lily should have been rivals when ono mentioned Karin vs Lily:

Oh yeah, Juli was from THawks tribe. If we're just talking non blondes, there's also Rose

I thought the Doll from T.Hawk's tribe was Noemblu or something. Little Eagle was her name, right?
 
I'm not a fan of goofy characters for the sake of it. Would rather have Karin in or someone else from 3s. If anyone plays anything like Elf fuete though, Capcom can kiss my ass. He's so ridiculously annoying. Elf matches to me are not even street fighter, its tic-tac-toe nonsense. I hope those gimmicky guess based mixup characters stay in sf4. Besides that, I really don't care too much what the initial roster is as long as the cast is decently balanced.
 
I wonder, if he's just got his wish, Mika isn't going to be ready for launch if they just start development on her.

So either she will come as DLC or he got the go ahead to announce it.

For now, I will be rooting for Juri. Will root for Mika/ Ingrid/ Holy Ken/ Mecha Zangief after, she's announced.

Having actually worked in the games industry myself what he's talking about is fairly normal, though I seriously doubt they'd change the initial roster based off leaks and it's more likely certain characters would get swapped in or out if they hit certain production issues or prove easier to implement than first estimated. For example, one MOBA I worked on (nothing exciting before you ask) had all the characters they slowly 'added' during the lead up to release pretty much done before the beta even started. Some of their weapon loadouts were tweaked and whatnot before they got fully unveiled but the ground-work for them was done long before the public ever knew about them.

See the video above for why that's unlikely an issue. Also, depending on whether my friend was messing with me or not, I hear Mika's pretty far along already.
 
So unless I'm missing something, that would put us at...
  • 1 for PAX (likely Rainbow Mika)
  • Maybe 2 for TGS
  • 1 for the Dubai World Game Expo (likely Zen)
  • 1 at the Brazil Game Show
  • 1 for NYCC
...all before PSX.

Did they gave any indication that NYCC would have a reveal ? And when is NYCC ?

Thanks, I edited my post accordingly. So we'll likely get 2 characters at one of these events (or PSX). Though the most likely 2 to get 2 characters are TGS & PSX.
 
I don't believe the character swapping thing. Fighting game characters take a ton of time to make, Capcom wouldn't just make 32 characters and only add 16 just for the sake of dealing with potential leaks, there might be some scrapped characters that have some pre production done like in SF4 but that's about it.

Yeah, that wouldn't happen. One getting held back due to implementation difficulties definitely would though.

The number 32 is definitely an ass pull but I think he brings up some good points. They are definitely working on a bunch of different characters, including those not in the initial 16, and I wouldn't be surprised if the roster was a little more "fluid" months ago. I also agree that if the expanded story mode that has been hinted at exists then it's logical to assume there will be a lot of future DLC characters in that mode, a la BlazBlue.

The thing he mentions I'm pretty sure will happen is unplayable characters. I think it's likely Akuma will be in the game in some form, either as unplayable initially or he'll be the 17th character that may be a preorder bonus. I also think there could be a brand new, unplayable boss. The extent of unplayable characters that quickly become DLC could be influenced by people complaining that this is "on-disc DLC", however. A lot of people felt burned by SFxT so they may hold back on early DLC in fear of another backlash.
 
Someone did a video on the Life & Death of Charlie Nash comic. Spoilers for the Street Fighter V story are in this comic.
Basically Bison tried to control Charlie, & he ended up at the bottom of the ocean when Shadoloo realized that Bison's control went south. The Illuminati found his body & through telepathy, Kolin (Gill's Assistant) & Urien explained the situation. Charlie's body was dead, but his mind was preserved thanks to Bison's Psycho Power. Kolin convinced Charlie to work with them & used Charlie's memories as a bargaining chip. Kolin also explained that Bison's control failed (on Charlie, Cammy, & the other Dolls) because he forced his will onto others. According to the Illuminati, a mind can only be controlled if the person agreed to be controlled. When Charlie agreed, he opened his eyes to find himself in a test tube with the body modifications you see in Street Fighter V. The modifications were done by Gill himself. This pretty much confirms that one of the members of the Illuminati will be in the game, most likely Urien (if the Siliconera leak is on the money).

Not necessarily. They gave Charlie his memories back the minute that he agreed to work with the Illuminati. He agreed because for years, when he joined the military, he agreed to make his life not his own. He swore to protect God's creation, his peace, his justice, and turn his fate over to God. All of that changed after what Shadoloo did to him.

So if Gill is around is this pre-SF3? Although I suppose only the comic could be SF3 and Nash could have been inexplicably absent from III's story (as well as Bison and basically everyone else).

At the very least, this confirms that Street Fighter V is around the events of III.

Now every time I look in this topic I keep thinking I accidentally stumbled across a declassified FBI document instead :P

So... Vega's trailer was released before Gamescom and he was playable on the actual machines there. Do we expect a repeat for PAX or is there a panel for Ono to personally divulge his wishes to us in person at? :P

Actually, the green skin grafts (& Charlie being given the gem on his forehead) only occurred after Gill modified Charlie. Bison's Psycho Power-based mind control did nothing to Charlie's body but preserve his mind when Shadoloo killed Charlie again after Charlie freed himself from Bison's control.

Because the Siliconera leak specifically mentioned Urien. Though Gill could be an unplayable secret boss who's available as DLC later down the road. Either that or the Siliconera leak is completely wrong & Gill is the Illuminati member that's playable.

Honestly, I wouldn't bank on
Gill being playable unless they massively nerf him. His move set is just way too strong--even for SF3, where everyone could parry. He would make a good boss if Urien is already there, though.
 
It's all a red herring. Final playable character will be
Kolin. And she's the true final boss. Believe.
