Haha great post. But in MGS1 there were many ending, in the bad ending Meryl is Cambell's daughter and she dies, and in the good one she stays his nice and she survives ( the canon ending).

Some ssites say there are more than one ending for MGS5. It has to be confirmed. If true, then one ending is canon.

I think they mean there are three endings but they form one whole, not 3 alternate endings.

Watching the re-stream now. I know everybody loves David Hayter, but put that all to one side, I really love Sutherlands voice. I mean in general. He put on a slightly cooler voice in PhoneBooth.

I found it interesting Ocelot wasn't in the group shot in the final trailer.

only guy who knows the truth.

Orchestrating Big Boss' doppleganger would probably give him all the pointers he needed to become Liquid Ocelot.

One stupid plot leads directly into another stupid plot.

Holy cow... i am so tempted to watch this.. but maybe i want to wait to see the hospital scene and play it myself.

Is it mind blowing good? psychologically twisted?

Yes.

Not a whole lot of real gameplay, but it is very intense and brings up a lot of questions. I am more hyped for this game after watching it.

Somebody posted this in stream: "The parasite attack drove BB over the edge causing him to utilize the wormhole tech to go back in time help current BB out the hospital and create Outer Heaven when Skullface and Cypher is busy dealing with Diamond Dogs"

Sounds like Timesplitters 3 xD

Oh boy. should i watch it then? Should i hold out? this scene is my most anticipated bit so far of the game. lol.

Don't give Kojima ideas.

Timesplitters 3 was amazing tho.

So were pretty sure Ishmael is Big Boss now right? Is all the speculation more towards who Ahab/Venom Snake is?

It seems so, yes. Though its almost too obvious.

Ahab/VS can be anyone. It can even be the player, reconstructed. The game starts with a face creator.

But I doubt hes BB. Even though hes been in a coma for 9 years, he comes off as way too green (his MGS4 coma didn't affect him as much) and even Ocelot who looked up to BB treats him as such. Plus, he has 2 eyes.

Honestly, I'd rather Ahab be BB and Ishmael can be literally anyone else, including the CIA Director from Snake Eater. I just want to play as Big Boss for the last ride.

Interesting that the first time the doctor shows the mirror; it's the customized character. With those wide lips and different beard.

Second time, it's Big Boss. Smaller lips and a new scar over the lip.

Could it be that WE where Big Boss all along? And that this is the big 4th wall breaking?

Yep. You create your own avatar. Your personal YOU in the game. You get transformed into playing big boss, through playing him in the game, but now also your personal avatar becomes him. It is the ultimate 4th wall breaker.

[Edit] POST HOSPITAL STREAM IS UP

So here's some brief examinations of the hints dropped in previous trailers.

Kojima's Elegia trailer

+The obvious language theme ties in with the parasites and Skullface's plan
+The scene at the beginning is BB killing everyone at MB
+Les Enfant Terrible being talked about with Eli basically confirms he's Liquid, not sure WTF there are two Liquids though

2015 Gamescom
+The scene with Kaz and Snake pointing a gun to someone on the ground could be when they abandon Skullface to die.

Launch trailer
+The final boss battle is basically confirmed with Mantis controlling the Metal Gear

E3 2014 trailer
+Near the end of the trailer, three guys are restraining BB. However, they don't really say anything and are strangely silent. BB also shoots some guy just wandering around. This is probably also the MB massacre and the soldiers can't talk due to the parasite.

E3 2013 trailer
+Eli is dubbed "A youth who curses his fate." Obviously a hint towards him being Liquid and his fate being succeeding Big Boss and/or being a soldier for the Patriots.
+Ocelot is dubbed "A rival living a lie." Suits Ocelot because he's on everyone and no one's side all at once, but it could also tie into him knowing the ruse about Venom Snake not really being Big Boss.
+This is the first time we hear Ocelot talk about Big Boss being a legendary soldier and he says "Let the legend come back to life." Legends are of course stories that may not be factual at all, which ties in well with Venom Snake not being Big Boss (who receives credit for everything done in the game i.e. growing his legend).

Garbage trailer
+The much-talked about scene at the beginning where you are apparently seeing through the eyes of someone who is not Kaz or Boss was basically the first big hint that Venom Snake may not be BB.
+It also seems very little has changed from the hospital scene in this trailer and what we saw in the streams. Volgin is a bit more flammable in the stream version I suppose.

For sure he's not BB though. The part where they compare his DNA to Eli's confirms it.

Can someone explain what the S rank criteria for the open prologue hospital section is?

I should probably wait a week for the speed runners to run through the game and save me time by doing the dirty work.

I wish there were more locations and weather patterns to choose from.

Not sure, every streamer I've seen only got A. Maybe you can't die, or it's time based. I'm curious to know if there are any hidden secrets. I did see a Ground Zeroes poster in the hospital, which is a strange thing to add.

Well, if the "It's not Big Boss" theory holds up. The only other thing I can think of is that it's Solidus.

Pretty far-fetched, but he's the only child of LET that's still not accounted for.

That would make him in his 70s during SotP assuming he's in his 30s in TPP.

That would make him in his 60s during SotP.

So he'd have the same accelerated aging as Solid?

Anyway the only thing I can think of that links up is something someone else mentioned in that Solidus was a paramilitary for the CIA in his teenage years and considering he was in his 20s when he became President yet looked like he was in his mid to late 40s...

Nanomachines, son etc.

Can't be. Solidus' DNA would also match Big Boss.

Legit question and I'm probably missing something but if Solidus is the only perfect match clone of BB yet he can't be the player in TPP because his DNA doesn't match Eli/Liquid why didn't they just use Solid Snake's DNA in MGS4?

I bet the whole point of the game is that there are no "soldier genes" and if a man believes and fights hard enough, he can become "the greatest Soldier who ever lived".

It's basically Big Boss showing through an experiment and example that a free soldier can be the best soldier.

Because MGS4 confirms that only Solidus was a perfect clone and only his DNA would work.

For those that have watched the streams so far of the hospital section...is it obvious that the player character may not be big boss or is it one of those classic Kojima ambigious things?

Because MGS4 confirms that only Solidus was a perfect clone and only his DNA would work.

Yup. Liquid tries to access the system three times, the first with Liquid's dna, then with solid's and it fails. The third time they try with solidus' dna and it works (thus proving that Big Boss' and Liquid's DNA are not the same even though Liquid is his clone).

It does seem like we're basing a lot of theories on this DNA test. Is it not possible that was faked or wrong in game to throw off BB from the LET project.

He was 37 when MGS2 takes place, so he'd be 14 in the TPP. The Liberian civil war starts in 1989 and thats when he does all that business with Raiden.

Hard to say. There seem to be a couple hints that something's up, but nothing I can put my finger on. Ishmael certainly seems to be a lot more agile than Snake.

I wouldn't say it's super obvious, but Ishmael is a suspicious character. I mean, he clearly has Kiefer Sutherland's voice, tries to help you, knows how to shoot a gun, says he's been watching over you for nine years etc. The real question is: if Venom Snake isn't Big Boss, then who is he?

I guess but why do that when he already knows about it etc?

I feel like I want it to be Solidus because I want Solidus to have his time to shine outside of roflstomping a few MG Rays and because Liquid's just a kid in this but if we go from the hospital sequence then Solidus would have had potentially 12 years to be genetically engineered to grow up, and he inherits all of Big Boss' super genes (for lack of a better term) and if we go with the rumour (unless it's been confirmed?) that Zero visits the real BB in hospital, apologizes for everything and tells him that Skull Face must be stopped etc then he "gifts" Solidus to BB to aid him against Skull Face.

I dunno. Then again that would mean (to me) that the big twist would be that the Patriots, as antagonists, in the series have for the most part been the AIs rather than Zero etc since he would have been brain dead since the late 70s or thereabouts.

If he was 37 in 2009 during The Big Shell incident that means he would have been 17 in 1989 when he was training child soldiers. Seems young to be in charge of a unit like that.

I guess but why do that when he already knows about it etc?

I'm just desperately clinging to hope that the MC of Phantom Pain is still Big Boss.

Heh. The worst part is that you might have to wait till the post game to get a definitive answer on that :P

That's true, but remember about accelerated ageing, he could be 17 but with the physique and mental capability of a over 30 year old hardened soldier/commander.

I really think the player is not Big Boss. I'm surprised I didn't figure it out before. At about 58 seconds into the Garbage trailer from 2013 there are clearly three people in the room, and Big Boss doesn't have the horn. Yet in the hospital escape scene and the end on the bicycle, he does have it. All the shots of Big Boss without the horn are from Ground Zeroes.

The "horn" was embedded in his skull after the helicopter crash, causing the coma to begin with. It gradually pushed out over nine years.
