I recall someone suggesting that the background in that second screenshot looked like something out of Duscae.
It's one of the first things you do early when you start up the game. This does raise the question of whether or not we can play as a female in MGO tho.

1972 - Les Enfants Teribles. Big Boss has his breakup with Zero. It doesn't mention Solidus at all. Eli is confirmed to be Liquid and Solid Snake's name is again confirmed to be David.
1976 - Zero is infected by Skullface's parasite.
1977 - Before he becomes comatose, Zero visits Big Boss in the hospital and initiates the body double plan.

Operation Intrude N313 is the Metal Gear 1 mission, basically confirming Venom is MG1 Big Boss.

So the Horn thing, it never "gets long" until the end, in a seemingly "before Intrude N313" moment? Could that moment be interpreted as a time skip?
Or is it something like Infamous, where if you kill a bunch instead of tranquilizing, it grows?

Edit: Man, if Kojima stayed longer, I totally bet he would have ended with a MG1+2 remake to round things out.

Kojima was considering making parts of Portable OPs canon. Kojima talked about it in an interview, I think it was with Geoff.

The horn finally protrudes completely from Venom's skull before MG1. They couldn't take it out earlier for fear of brain hemorrhaging.
It's probably way later as Outer Heaven is the area.
Maybe at 100% you unlock Operation Intrude n313 :v

not a horn, but a "good guy/bad guy" system, that depends on what choices you do throughout the game.
I think it was said that unless it conflicts with something else, Portable Ops is canon.

It is literally just shrapnel that doctors cannot remove from Venom Snake without causing a brain hemorrhage.
But, really strange "last mission" as beyond 2 or 3 tiny things, mostly before Quiet shows up, it's the exact same mission as the start, and they make you go through the entire tutorial? Couldn't they maybe skip ahead?
It's a metal fragment from the explosion/crash. Can't go in an MRI (magnetic) because it'd rip it out. I imagine it gets pushed out of the body like some things do (ever get a splinter in so far in your finger, you can't get it out, only to have it eventually "grow out"?)
