Street Fighter V Roster Discussion: P-P-P-P-PATTERN BREAKER

They've been steadily removing things from Chun since 3, along with changing her animations to be less interesting. Starting with her losing Tenshokyaku, which got turned into an auto-combo in 4. Now it's been stolen by Cammy and Chun has lost it completely again. She lost her 1-handed Kikoken from 3 in favor of the old 2-handed one to make her more like her SF2-incarnation which was just silly. Now she's lost Hazanshu in favor of Senenshu, which makes no sense from a continuity-perspective.

They, and a lot of the old school players, are possibly still haunted by her third strikes's rendition and her dominance. She will probably never be super powerful on purpose.

She is good in V, but is missing a few moves, some of here animations should be redone, and her v trigger and skill needs to be better.

He doesn't, & has been slacking on his training as a result (Vegeta even called him out on it before the Buu Saga).
Yeah, I remember that...Vegeta is badass, favorite character of the series.

He would be if he didn't decide to become a scholar. He's quickly approaching Yamcha levels of uselessness.
lol...yeah, Buu Saga really messed up a few things for me. So back and forth with the power levels.

Goku > Vegeta
Majin Vegeta > Goku (slightly I guess)
SSJ3 > Vegeta + Buu (but, I'm not gonna kill him cuz "reasons"
Mystic Gohan > Buu
Kid Buu > SSJ3 Goku? or he gets tired quick cuz 'reasons"

Why wasn't Gohan summoned there to destroy Kid buu is beyond reasoning. Would have loved for Vegeta/Goku to just be the main focus of the arc, honestly, or something like Gohan tainted or manipulated by someone since he was supposed to be the Z warrior who displayed the strongest potential. Buu always felt like a cheap villain. Instant regeneration was so lame.

Which sucks they really need him. His style of gameplay is missing from sfv. All the characters so far are offense heavy. No good defensive character yet imo.
I agree, i plan to alt. guile in SFV, he style is sorely lacking right now. Even Ryu is best played with a bit more focus on offense, but he's still fairly balanced. Would like to see how Guile would fare in this engine though, since he zones with booms as well as normals and anti-air very well.

I'm really looking forward to guile. he's one of the best characters in the series, IMO. the USA tats are gonna look sick in the new engine.

SF4 was pretty goofy looking, we had Rufus, Hakan, El fuerte, Dan, and just everyone in general looked kind of goofy.. Characters' eyes would pop up during an ultra animation, and in many other circumstances. And the way most characters acted was very cartoonish.

gief always bugged me the most. he didn't look like gief imo. impostor shit.

Well, I was joking about his glasses no doing anything, but yeah putting them on would make sense for a V-trigger. How about making all his moves motions once his glasses are on :P

Dunno what they could realistically do. Guile's tricky to balance. Still need him in the game. He'd easily be the character I'd play most based on the ones revealed so far.

I could see Capcom making his V trigger allow him to charge up his specials by holding a button down to make them more powerful.

Yeah guile always play the same doesn't matter which game. I think that's because that character was designed to perfection. The engineers who worked behind guiles design found the perfect moveset/balance of that character. His original design from sf2 still holds up. There is not much you can do with him.

If the recovery of booms as good as sfiv then I don't think it will be 1 bar. Probably like 3 bar like bison.

Well, making his moves motions would be nuts, so I'm not totally serious, but for something super-powerful, couldn't they just make a character have 1-large V-Guage bar so it takes longer to fill? That would kinda be a comeback mechanic in a way.

Would having less V-reversal opportunities be a way to balance a more defensive/zoning character?

Something like V-Ism in SFA3, where activating it removes the need for charge time on those specials and allows you to throw them out one after another as long as you still have meter? That could be interesting, but yeah, balance would still be an issue.

Yep, he now can get KO one shot by OG Frieza.

I swear, that shit is painful to watch. :lol

OG Frieza was also significantly stronger at that point, though. Gohan wiped the floor with a guy giving Piccolo trouble, and Piccolo never stopped training, IIRC. Even if it was just part of the build up to Golden Frieza, I assumed that all of Frieza's forms saw a power increase as a result.

So at this point what's guiles chances of making the initial cut? Almost 0-none right?

Probably not; even assuming that the other 4 returning characters would be from SFII, we already have Nash. They're certainly not the same character, and they clearly want to differentiate characters so they could always touch him up ala Ken so that they're barely alike, but I think they're going to wait on Guile. I definitely think he'll be DLC down the road, but they're going to want a variety with these last 4 returning characters (Hence why a slower grappler, a Rekka character, an SNK-esque Tae Kwon Do character, and a weirdo like Urien all make sense to me).

By the time SFV's done and has run its course, however, I totally expect to see Guile show up. I just don't think he has a shot at the base roster.

Was there a rumor that Simone stands a chance being in SFV? I dont wanna believe and be let down. As for her look thats just Japanese design for dark skin characters who are not stereotypes. Look like a number of races. Really like her character design and its a shame she has only been in Canon Spike, should really hunt down that game.

No, that'd lower the chances of Linn Kurosawa getting in, and I need her

Out of curiosity, who owns the rights to Linn Kurosawa? I know she shows up in that one Alpha stage, but she's an unnamed cameo, so I'm assuming they can get away with that. A Street Fighter spot, on the other hand...

I've never heard this rumor myself. I'm not against her getting in; she seems pretty rad! But to my knowledge, there hasn't been any rumor supporting her.

I think one of the early fake leaks had her but that's it

She's a cool design but I'd rather she showed up in a Vs game so she can have a crazy roller skating playstyle

I'm not really experienced with Guile, but how well could Remy fill that roll? High/low booms and the rushdown potential seems like it would work in V, but maybe he's to aggressive for people looking for a Guile replacement.

anyone think it would be dope if the game had classic EX versions of characters like SF Alpha 2/KOF? Classic Bison with a psycho crusher, charge Nash, charge/360 Birdie, etc... It was cool being able to use SF2 CE characters in Alpha 2 and most KOF games have them too

I wonder if the other Dolls are going to be added as characters. I was surprised to learn Juli was named Julia and was a part of T. Hawk's tribe. I could see redesigned versions of her and Juni showing up later on.

Personally I only want Santamu. All the little things we know about her would make her a pretty unique addition to the cast.

Well I accidently posted this in the R.Mika thread, but anyway what character would make you want to purchase SFV? I heard a lot of people saying "add X character and I'll be there day 1." I am still buying SFV, but Guy, Urien, or Yun would make me want to buy it more...

At this point I am buying it either way, but Juri making the initial roster would make me feel that much better about the whole thing.

Juri. Then I'll have 3 characters with very different playstyles that interest me (Bison and Necalli). You can't ask for more than that.
