Has anybody been able to get rewards from the voucher of Ground Zeroes ?

Not yet. I've been checking my Konami CORE vault the last couple of days. It still says "Come back at the launch of METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN to retrieve your voucher code for this exclusive content."

Just received this email from our local game store: WTF

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be slightly delayed. We will post an announcement once we have a definite schedule on the game's new release date. Please stay tuned.

We apologize for the inconvenience and we thank you very much for your kind patience and understanding.

Snake? Snaaaake!

Yeah, just like in Ground Zeroes! Just press (I think) Square in PS4 while highlighting the song you want played every time a chopper comes to pick you up.

Wow I never knew that! Despite playing Ground Zeroes twice (PS4 and Xbox One) and MGSV for about 27 hours now.. this is completely news to me.

Amazing. I just wish Fortunate Son was in the game now.

Sorry if this has already been asked. I tried looking around.

I know the MGO is delayed on PC, but is the FOB multiplayer portion available immediately on PC like it is on consoles?

You don't have to turn it off to get the bonus, you just have to not have it trigger.

Worth leaving it on to save frustration and earn a bonus if you manage to be extra slick. Game was clearly designed around it and it's pretty cool, IMO.

You can also easily get S rank without that bonus so there's no reason to punish yourself unless you take the whole Punished Snake thing way too literally.

True, I was trying to simplify things but you're right.

Ok I will share my reasons for why after spending 23 hours of playtime I consider MGS5 the biggest disappointment since FFXIII and how it even overtook it spot for me.

First of all you must know that I'm crazy about the MGS franchise since 1998 and it's one of my absolute favorites of all time... and I have a huge amount of respect for Kojima and I think he really is a brilliant man.

I will put my problems with the game in spoiler tag just in case if someone wants to explore these problems by himself \ herself and be surprised by them just like I was.... I will not mention story events \ characters spoilers so don't worry.

MGS5 IMO suffers from the following:

1- The game opens with one of the best first hour of any game I've ever played... extremely well done and epic, but as some other gafer mate mentioned it goes downhill from there.

2- The story events and the cut scenes are SUPPER SUPPER SUPPER RARE... the reviews prepared me for this already but I did not expect it to be THIS rare, I mean the series is well known for it's amazing touch in the cut scenes and how it even effected the industry with it since 1998.... now it's nothing all gone.

3- The damn cassette tapes.. the game relays A LOT on them to tell the story events and details yet many of them are just fillers with no value information... so you don't know which ones are a must to listen too and which ones are a waste of time.. the only way to know is to listen to ALL OF THEM.

4- Listening to the cassette tapes aren't easy unless you stand still in one safe spot and play them and just set there listening to them doing nothing else... because when someone talks to you on the radio or the enemies speaks the cassette tapes volume gets so low that you can't hear ANYTHING and it doesn't stop no it continues to play so you have to listen to it again to get what you missed... it's so annoying because this happens a lot getting interrupting while trying to listen to them.

5- 90% of the missions feels nothing but fillers and side missions.... it's like playing a whole game build on side missions.

6- The check points in the game can really gets on your nerves... you can spend time gathering soldiers and collecting materials and reach the end of the missions after running around for like 25 minutes, you die and the game takes you waaaaaaaay back at almost the start of the mission losing everything you collected, this happened to me twice today which made me realize why they didn't allow a manuel save? most of the open world games have that option why not here?

7- The game FORCE you to grind... if you did not grind heavenly then progressing in the game can become really hard.

8- Nothing exciting really happens after the first hour that encourage you to keep playing and progressing at less not in my 23 hours of play time.

What... the ... fuck?

I spent about an HOUR on a mission and at the very end, trying to extract, I rode my horse out of the mission area and the game abandoned the entire thing right there. I have to do the whole thing again. So frustrated.

EDIT: This mission probably required the most stealth so far in the entire game. Having done all that and having to restart... fuck, why would they design it like that? Why didn't it tell me to turn back? Thinking about just going to bed for now.

Are you getting the console version? You can have up to 100 custom songs on PC if you're getting that.

One of my favourite gaming memories was getting into a chopper full of Russian dudes in Arma 3 and as we were flying to a mission one of them started playing Fortunate Son. It was amazing. We all died soon after, but amazing.

Ugh. This is very alarming and worrying.

On the story complaints, to be honest I'm just interested in Phantom Pain as a video game in general, not really as an installment of the Metal Gear saga.

Since the servers are up can someone tell me what "thing that has never been before" involving GZ save files is?

People stop panicking yourselves from early impressions.

Unfortunately I already pre-ordered and paid for it "just yesterday" and there is no way to refund the money, another option I can do is replaced it with another game or just wait for it :(

Physical stores should give you a refund. Kick up a fuss.

I have to say that the gameplay mechanic itself is very well done, perfection... but the experience got ruined by the problems I've mentioned in my post above.

Well... a few hours and you guys can experience it by yourselves.

Someone hijacked the delivery truck. lol

You want 50 hours of cutscenes?

Yea it's funny right? The complaints about MGS4 was the god awful long cut scenes. Now people are complaining their aren't many even though the story is fleshed out in tapes which is nothing but a similar mechanic to the codec.

Sorry if this has already been asked. I tried looking around.

I know the MGO is delayed on PC, but is the FOB multiplayer portion available immediately on PC like it is on consoles?

Is MGO just delayed on PC? I thought it was delayed for all platforms. I hope FOB is online for steam too.

Honest question to those who don't like the cassette tapes.

Did you like codec calls?

Would you like the cassettes better if they were straight up codec calls?

Ugh. This is very alarming and worrying.
Dude, cancel your order and wait or something. You're ignoring the myriad positive impressions and obsessing over the negative ones; it's clear that you don't really want the game. So rather than agonizing over it, just get a refund and wait until you've heard more impressions.

Yeven though the story is fleshed out in tapes which is nothing but a similar mechanic to the codec.
No it's not... you don't get interrupted almost all the time while listening to codec conversations.

When a codec conversation happens the game stops and focus on it... but in tapes anything can interrupt you.

Dude tapes/less cut scenes isn't Metal Gear Solid.

We went through this in the review thread. What a person perceives as "Metal Gear Solid" or any series or brand is very individualistic. I'd counter that Metal Gear (including MG1, 2 and spin offs) as a whole has always had great gameplay and MGSV sounds like it's no exception.

If he were in front of me I would. He set expectations of what MGS was in MGS 1-4.

You do you have some control over the expectations you set.

No it's not... you don't get intercepted almost all the time while listening to codec conversations.

Am I the only one who chills out in the ACC to listen to the tapes?

I certainly want more than 15 minute cut scene and 10 hours game play.

Now this is exaggeration. There isn't 10 hours of gameplay between cutscenes.

If he were in front of me I would. He set expectations of what MGS was in MGS 1-4.

That's on you to be honest. But agree to disagree then. It's clear you have made up your mind on this issue.

My collector's edition guide from Amazon will be here tomorrow. The last guide I bought was for........MGS4

what does hardcover have vs. regular? i'm not a mgs collector, but just feel like i might enjoy the game more since it's been years since i've played a mgs game.

i just ran through ground zeroes this weekend and enjoyed it but felt like i had a lot to learn

I'll try that, even replayed GZ last night in preparation, so frustrating receiving this email today when I'm already getting ready to leave and get the game.
