ayyyyyyyyyyyy

lmao

This mission is Indiana Jones on steroids.

Has anyone tried the Riot SMG? How does it compare to the good ole Wu

I think the pistol is overall more useful.

The Riot SMG is basically shooting rubber bullets. So it takes a couple of hits to put someone down, and I found it harder to hit headshots.

i cant get through Chapter 15 at all!! frusterating the heck out of me.

any advice from those who's beaten it?

Play the side ops and make a better equipment. This is essential to progress in the game. I'm the mission (50 hours)
38
, and it gets very hard in some moments. So be prepared and make the equipment!

Yeah but I found out by making them sleep you can interrogate more than 1 very easily without worrying about being spotted. This way you are always sure to interrogate.

Sneaking behind then hold R2 when the prompt appears will automatically hold them up in the interrogation stance, you can also crouch to make yourself harder to spot.

That prologue blew me away. First mission was incredible. It took me two hours but I managed to perfect stealth it.

Holy shit, this is going to be truly epic.

Honestly, I don't deserve one. Well, I'm glad I got that mission S ranked, but I didn't even try. I was fucking up hard because that mission is filled with enemy vehicles and I was getting tired.

But then I finally complete the mission and I am awarded an S rank, despite being seen 7 (!) times, killing a bunch of people, used reflex, got hit 59 times and nearly spent half an hour in the mission.

Dem bonus objectives doe. I didn't even know I got 11/11, it was my first try.

I really hope I can find a casette of Take On Me.

I really miss codec calls tbh. Well, not codecs as such... just... you know, actual conversations...

The episodic approach is so dumb. One of the very few Kojima style choices that I think just doesn't work. A lot of missions you do aren't even that story intensive, let alone requiring credits everytime. And it makes the most open Metal Gear or all feel more broken up. Super weird that he used that idea for V out of all of them. Would've been far more fitting in something like 4.

Eleven hours logged in today. Jesus. I need to take a break tomorrow and work a little bit. Played this all the way into 3 AM.

YOOOOOO that optional scene you find early in the Medical Bay.

WTF????? This is ESSENTIAL and everyone should make sure they find it.

Everyone keeps mentioning this, is it possible for me to still find it? I just finished the
Honey Bee
mission, though it was major I assume I'm still early on. Is there a prerequisite or do I just explore the base properly?

What happened to the old motherbase membets
is the mots intesting lf the cassettes so far, really digging the approach t the cassettes in the game

I saw it much further in the game than you are.

Go to
medical bay, take the stairs up, into the door with the blue light, then press the button at the right to open another one.

Alright I found the best 80's tune, makes perfect heli music as well.
Laura Brannigan - Gloria.
Never changing this.

Location is
the airport in Africa, it's inside somewhere.

If this game was just running around Mother Base punching the staff in the face and slamming their heads into the ground I'd be satisfied.

I know but imagine if 3 enemies were near each other? You could just put them to sleep and then interrogate them one by one by waking them up with a shot on the leg then holding them for interrogation. Basically you are doing the same thing as sneaking behind an enemy except you have more control of how the situation plays out since the guard is asleep.

Will I ever get as many brand new tapes in my inventory at once as you do at the outset of the game? If they just trickle in I'll be happy, but getting like 10 tapes off the bat that constantly got interrupted by the tutorial radio chatter was annoying.

can someone answer this, yes or no (in spoiler tags if you want) are there boss fights in the game?

Yes.

Yes, sometimes you'd get 3 - 5 all it once.

Does anyone know how to do the side op "unlucky dog 3"? It's at the airfield in Africa, you have to extract a MB soldier and a prisoner and I can only find one of them. I've been at this for an hour searching EVERYWHERE!

fuck yes i finally got in the server got meh suit and arms and bonus...

lol damn dat loading smh....will login in once a day for the bonus and thats it....

I found I had a lot of fun when I decided to go lethal. Still as stealthily as possible, but decked out with lethal options.

The weapon progression isn't great. Playing non-lethally feels like being a vegetarian in a steakhouse; the options just aren't on your side. "You can use this pistol, and this rifle, and maybe this shotgun when you've played for 40 hours".

If you have DD use him and visit the outposts, he'd sniff him out.

Anyone know how you trigger that medi bay scene? I've been into the door that you can enter but there's nothing but another locked door.

It's at the top, the door with a blue light on top of it.

Use D-Dog. He'll be somewhere.

My style is non letal util they find me, then I go fully lethal until they kill me or I take the base/outpost
Very funny hahahah.

Just got a buddy that if you've seen a single trailer isn't really a spoiler, but I'll mark it for progress reasons (about ~6-8hours in):
Quiet.

Anyway, I think with it being 8pm and me grabbing dinner, I can give my Day One impressions:

THE GOOD

Dat opening. I don't care what anyone says - that first hour was badass and just kept escalating more and more. It had all the things I love about MGS cutscenes.

Performance: This games looks fantastic and runs great on the PS4. I almost always get multi-plat games on PC, but I don't feel like I'm missing out playing on PS4.

Gameplay: This is all the best parts of Metal Gear Solid controls rolled into one. Controls are fast, responsive, tight, fluid... whatever descriptor you want for "great." I feel like I have complete control over Venom Snake; he goes where I want, grabs what I want, jumps over what I want. The menu structure is great. The stealth is wonderful. Moving your character in the space around you is just about perfect; save for the horse, which I'm not a huge fan of, but am enjoying it more as I play.

AI: It's really great - yeah, it's a "game" through and through - but within the rules of Phantom Pain, the AI routines are phenomenal.

Missions: Main story missions have been fun and varied - though I haven't played too much to commit to that.

Cutscenes: When we get them, they're the fun Kojima crazy things I love.

Score: This music is phenomenal, and how it ramps up with the action is incredible.

... and, I really, really love planning my attack but then going full-on rambo when I get caught. It's fun to improvise - and this game has everything you need to enjoy making your own rules and play style on the fly.

THE NOT SO GOOD

Open World: I've only played for a day, and I can already see the trappings of open world game design - collecting shrubs, running around the same looking areas over and over, getting lost and referring to my map several times, etc. Maybe it's too early to say this - but so far, everything in Afghanistan looks the same. It looks good, graphically; but it's not an aesthetic that I particularly enjoy.

Landing Zones: I'm asking for help here: I don't really love that, while it's open world, I'm constantly forced to run around giant mountains that I can't climb. For example, I was just about on my way to a power plant to get blue prints, and the LZ to start the mission is forever away... and I kept getting lost, as you can't just climb... you have to follow roads and it 1) takes forever, and 2) I don't love having to keep strolling past outposts or take them over. Is there a way to give yourself a "guide" to get to the destination? Seriously, I'm tired already of wandering this place. And, I guess I'll ask how others are playing? Do you typically have the heli pick you up after each mission/side-op, or do you wander to the next location?

...

...

And that's about it for the bad. I think I'm just having a very rough time adjusting to Open World MGS. It very well might grow on me, admittedly. It's just - I rarely enjoy open world games, and I'm already annoyed by some of the small stuff; and I know this is a long game.

Finally, QUESTION:

Am I doings something wrong? I'm attempting to start up Mission 08, and it says I should have a rocket launcher - hell, the next several missions do. I've been doing side-ops here and there, and while I don't fulton everyone or even most... I do fulton from time to time. That said, my R&D is at 6... and I need a 12 for rockets. So, am I supposed to just dick around with side-ops and/or open world until I get to level 12 R&D?

Also, I was trying to do a side-op, and I skipped to Mission 11 by accident, just by running into the ruins on my way somewhere else (that power plant mentioned earlier). Nothing wrong with this, I imagine?

Thanks!

This game is something else. I have only just finished the first mission in Afghanistan, it's going to take forever for me to complete. It's amazing.

Is there a way to salute your guys on Motherbase? I keep punching them.
