Not sure if mentioned but there is a birthday cut scene for those curious why the game asks for your birthday (mine was today, or rather yesterday just about) and got it when returning from a mission.

also every single mission i've done so far has ended with a chopper riding in blasting "KIDS IN AMERICA" so basically this game is awesome

Is anyone else having an issue installing the mission after the prologue...? mine says "Installing game data... do not turn off the system. 203 seconds"

It's been over an hour and it hasn't done anything.

So do we all agree the open world is totally lame? Some of the people giving me shit for calling it out on Saturday are agreeing with me on Tuesday.

There's nothing there man, nothing.

So after playing it a few hours I'm really impressed and enjoying it. What I will say is at this point every character feels extremely hollow that I've come across, Snake is unable to talk 99 percent of the time unless it's in the form of a tape recording.

Does the whole game take place across Afghanistan? I hope not...

I don't. Personally, I love the open world because I love just traveling from location to location while I listen to plot tapes. Literally feels like I'm catching up on the exposition on my way over, with some soldiers in between and it's awesome compared to how other Metal Gear games did it haha.

At a minimum, they could have put in a bunch of fruits/plants and animals. Imagine going to Africa and finding ways to capture an elephant or giraffe or hippo for your animal conservatory.

Imagine going around finding a bunch of different fruits and plants like in Snake Eater. Granted, I'm not sure what you'd do with them.

What do you plan to do when there's no tapes left to listen to?

Like I said, the open world itself is a fucking chore to get around with nothing interesting happening in between outposts, villages and compounds. BUT imo the said villages and compounds are varied, large and interesting enough to keep it fresh.

But yeah, the world is lame when you see the same rocks and trees over and over and over...

I'm going with a yes for whether or not they explain it seeing as said thing has been mentioned in the plot.

And my easy method was to hit him full speed with a horse after like 5 tranqs didn't work. Stun, fulton, moving on :3

i mean im sure they will through the main story or a tape or whatever but i couldnt even find him once i want back to motherbase...?

I love the game, but i've found the difficulty curve to be pretty steep. Last night I spent about four/five hours playing (I was already 8 hours in). I ended up aborting the story mission I was on, because i'd get about 75% of the way through it and get spotted and everything would go to shit (and it sent me back to the 'checkpoint', which always seems to set me back a good half an hour or so at least).

I thought that perhaps I should concentrate on side ops so I could upgrade weapons etc, but then the side op was almost as difficult as the story mission I was doing.

If I have a complaint about the game, it's the controls - great for stealth, but if you get spotted and you need to shoot your way out of a tight spot, they feel like they're working against you.

So yeah, five hours wasted, except now my fulton can extract weapons. Whoop. I'll keep trying though. The atmosphere in the game is exceptional.

What needs to be there then?

I dont mind it at all. In fact I like the open world.

It doesnt have to be GTA or something.

this game christ played like 8 hours today only on mission 4, keep getting side tracked. I have one question, how do I customise my weapons, i saw on a video that you cna put suppressors on, choose different barrels etc. No spoilers though if I have to wait and do missions just say that.
?
EDIT: also one moe thing anyone else have a glitch with mission c2w, i destroyed the coms before the actual mission but don't receive a rank for it, anyone know of a fix?

Its a bug, restart your system

Jk Monkey im a lot of hours in and I still cant customize weapons. Might have been removed? Although if you are in your ACC it still says customizations of weapons under the customize header.

I heard some people talking about a Med Bay cutscene that could be missed? Could anyone kind non-spoliery give me an idea how to find it?

You have to wait and do side ops, the mission names are funny as well.

The one I saw had
a group of soldiers firing at targets. One guy decides to get fancy with his shooting. Ocelot critiques him in saying that that type of fancy work is useless in the battlefield but he's impressed with the shooting regardless.
It really wasn't anything special, assuming that's the cutscene. I activated it after I unlocked the Medbay and landed my chopper there.

I got that one before I got the Medbay. I don't think that was the one they were talking about. Can't find the post....

Snake Eater had lots of animals. That would be cool.

All I see is one goat every 20 minutes or so and maybe some birds.
I saw many plants and a lot of animals (wolves, goats and bears), there's also the risk to encounter a truck. On the other hand, it's the desert so you don't really need to climb an empty mountain, it could help to tag enemies or just watch the landscape but that's all.

I personally don't find the difficulty curve higher than most mgs games, but I'm sympathetic to those who haven't played many games in the franchise.

can the experts tell me what I did wrong here? I was gunning for an s. spoilers

As non spoilery as I can put it!

There's a door on the top floor of the medical platform there's a blue light above it, enter that door and then enter the door after it. You have to have done the side op called "wandering Motherbase staff".

That's not the cutscene. You have to land on the medical section, walk up some stairs, find a blue door, go inside find another blue door and push a button.

I've seem to have lost my Dog-puppy on the motherbase, last night it cacme and greeted me when i arrived but now it's nowhere to be found :C

5 hours in. I actually love the sparseness of the environments, every mission and task feels in service to the story rather than being simple busywork.

I knew I was playing something special when I quietly slipped out of an outpost that was on alert by hopping in the back of a random delivery truck. No jankyness, just felt really natural.

GOTY.

And the opening prologue, with its survival horror feel, just makes me even sadder that we never got to see Silent Hills. There's big hints in there of what that game may have felt like, it would've been awesome.

Looks like time maybe? I S ranked that by just using my Sniper RIfle from a long distance and killing him really quickly, then bailing out of the mission zone on the horse. I marked and extracted a patrol near the landing zone, marked the commander and like one other guard, and that's about it. Didn't even get a clean headshot, had to shoot him twice, but got out with an S.

I think it works for the game. It's a lot like Ground Zeroes: drop into the sandbox for missions. It doesn't need to a rich, illustrious setting to help tell a story like say the Witcher 3 - this game is just telling a story in a different way. I like the free roam because it allows me to check areas out and get used to them before I try a mission in those areas and get a good rank.

Sure, it's not the best out there. But it's fine.

Sometimes you see Ocelot playing fetch with the dog and sometimes the ball can go off the platform and the dog jumps after it and dies. You have to capture a new dog now.

You can s rank by killing?
