It’s happening! You, yes you (and me!), might be able to afford a Tesla sometime soon. On Twitter today, Musk shared that the holy grail of Tesla’s, the lower cost Model 3 sedan, will officially be unveiled next March (along with taking preorders).

We’ve known about it since last year, but now we know when to keep an eye out for it.

Come on 2005 Corolla with 120k miles, you can limp along for 2 more years.

Honestly, the problem for me as a city-dweller is where to park/charge the thing. But good on Tesla for getting the price down.

one of the rare times i hate living in a big city

would love one of these, but car isn't very practical here

Not preordering shit until 3rd party reviews are in. It's one thing to make a great car at 70K, it's another thing to make a great car at 35K. But I do hope that they come through.
See I'm in the same boat as you. Problem is that by the time reviews hit, preorders will be backlogged to hell. I guess we might have to wait a year or two after 2017.

doesn't tesla always delay like 3-4 times before they actually start production tho

like model s was supposed to hit mainstream in early 2012 and didn't they start production in 2013? and model x was supposed to be a 2014 car it's now a late 2015 car.

I haven't owned a car in 5 years. Would be neat if this were my first one.

Not sure if I care about cars enough to spend 35k though. I'm hoping in 2 years I'll be working from home.

Looking to get a 1-2 year old model 3, 2 years pre owned.

2019 model, +2 years old=mine in 2021. Prob 25kish? Gotta wait a year or 2 to get bugs/improvements worked out.

I'd wait for reviews guys. If it's anything like I hear the base model MIGHT be sub 30K but to add some nice things that aren't all that luxurious you'd quickly be shooting up past the range. And who knows for how long we'll have tax incentives.

Regardless this is a moot point for me since I live in Texas.

Its $35k

I was planning on spending $30-$40k on a car in the next year. Think I will wait a bit longer now.

It's 35K base price but states tend to have certain incentives that make it cheaper if you go for an electric car. Which is what most people are counting on.

Unless the rules changed.

how far can I go on a charge. I would like at least 300 miles and that's while using the AC and stuff.

I think most of these cars do like up to 200 miles on one charge. So yeah. You might be out of luck

Hmmm I am in the market for a new traveler. Getting tired of premium gas + horrible mpg

I was looking at Audi but this seems pretty nice

Your Toyota Corolla is probably gonna last longer than that Tesla.

Doubtful. Electric cars have very little to break on them. A new battery pack and they would be pretty much good to go. New Tesla battery pack replacement would be far easier and cheaper than a new gas engine on a corolla.

A tesla battery replacement is $12,000. How is that cheaper then a new engine?

i will def put 5k down on this in march if that's what it costs and go from there. would absolutely love an all electric (we have a 2015 ford fusion electric which we love and that only goes 20-30 miles per charge).

How much does it cost to preorder? If I have to wait around a year after it initially releases to receive shipment that would be about the time I was planning on buying a new car.

I'd love this to me my next car, but I haven't looked a ton at electric cars, would I be able to charge it easily? I'd hate to get somewhere and run out of charge for like a day.
