what kind of emblems are people making? Mine is simple, but I liked the little extra.

The Mega Sackmen

Mission 8.
Chasing a tank that managed to escape my ambush. On D-Horse. Maneuvering to dodge its fire while trying to move closer and to a good spot to missile its ass. On my mind I could only think of this.

Secondary missions are pure filler (although still fun and a good distraction), but oh god with the main ones. Sogood.gif.

spoiler for a secret scene you can get upon returning to motherbase

how exactly do you get the scene with Quiet in the shower? I had flies buzzing around me, but ocelot just threw water on me. I read that she is supposed to show up and stop him from doing that. Do I have to get to a point where she can be a buddy?

You are clearly not ashamed of your words and deeds yet.

About mission 8

On the way to the fortress there's an armored vehicle. Armed with cannon and rockets. That's how i destroyed the tanks. It's a pain to drive though.

Alright, been playing for a couple days now and only have one complaint so far.

Why can't the chopper pick me up and drop me off somewhere else in the same action? If I'm going from mission to mission sometimes I have to get back in the air only just to deploy back down. It's annoying. Sometimes I just want a quick hop to another drop point. It's Destiny all over again. Side missions are especially annoying because they drop be back to where I left off, only for me to request to leave again and then request again to be dropped off a few miles down the road. Too many loading screens.

If you unlock the sign post things, invoices, you can mail yourself there in a box.

I've found a couple of them but I dont see why I need to mail myself when I have a god damn helicopter at my command that shows up whenever I ask it to!

Edit: was wondering the same thing and read it online in a MGS hints and tips video. Have not done it myself yet, though. Gonna try first thing tom.

I noticed most of the strust have at least one door with a red light above it that make a noise when you approach. will any of those open over the course of the game or am i wasting my time?

so far i've only seen the one door with the blue light in the medical platform

I did the tank destroying mission with the mortars (killed the target and the lead tank). Then I chased the last tank down on D. Horse until I found the IFV with the autocannon, which I used to shoot it with.

I like just how open-ended the missions are.

Really quick question for Metal Gear veterans - I haven't played any of the previous games, and (as much as I'd love to) I won't have enough leisure time to go through them in the foreseeable future.
I'd love to pick up MGS V seeing all the good reviews, however.

My question is: would I still be able to enjoy the game on its own without previous knowledge of the series?

Thank you all!

Just play it. The game will bring up characters and events from the previous 2 games, but everything important in those games are easily summarized in a cassette or cutscene.

Some will open based on where you are. Also, they're the target areas during FOB infiltrations.

I guess there's a "shipping service" that you unlock - get in a box, and it loads you in another location. I still don't understand how this works - I've seen nothing of the sort (or at least noticed anything as such) in five+ hours in Afghanistan.

Box travel is Mother Base only.

This game is amazing, and I'm not even that far in the story yet because I've been doing side-ops and collecting materials while listening to my playlist.

Been playing this around the clock. It's GOAT material, so good. The horror element, even just in play on some missions trying to be undetected and extract as you go, with choppers circling around or when you put the heat on you in alert and that Terminator-esque music starts to creep in. It's really nerve wracking sometimes and evokes that PTSD theme.

Some bases have a giant orange flat thing with a sign next to it. Grab the invoice off the manifest and you unlock it as a fast travel point. It's hard to spot but it glows orange on thermals iirc.

If you can take the GMP hit, try calling in an attack chopper in Main Mission 11. Lol.

So when a mission has extra objectives. Let's say I already achieved Rank S on said mission. Does going back and completing those other objectives just grind out more GMP + Heroism? Do I then have to complete the mission as normal for those objectives to "count"?

Ep 6 is a pain in my ass. My skill level is questionable which I admit, but it takes ten years to get to where you need to go so I really don't feel like fully restarting it

I've come across a couple of the "invoice" sign post things. Got a box but think I might need to unlock the skill. If it wasn't for my damn, crappy job I'd be online playing and finding out lol.

So I just auto failed a mission because I left the "mission bounds." What is this stupid UbiSoft bullshit? Please tell me I don't have to do the entire mission again - it was the
rescue Huey mission and I was trying to run from Slopalopipus or whatever the fuck its called

Fixed my stupid issue.

So the game was trying to start a cutscene but it was in the wrong area of activation. Basically, after a certain scene in the med bay, the game will try and start up a cutscene with another buddy, but since you aren't at the main part, it freaks out and starts endlessly loading.

I fixed it by walking my happy ass all the way to the main part and it worked.

All is well now.

So I think I'm around mission 11 or 12. I'm currently trying to retrieve
Huey
.

And I just got my first clear look at Sahelanthropus. Woooo. Oh and Quiet tried to murder me, that was creepy. I crawled through that entire area and then right at the end she got a shot off.

Also I have my chopper set to play the Ghostbusters theme. You dont know how much I enjoyed calling it in for an attack and watching it murder everyone while it blasts "Who you gunna call?" The custom music option is basically the main reason I'm playing on PC. Win10 has this handy dandy app to record gameplay much like PS4/Xbone can and I tried to record it, unfortunately it's still shitty and doesnt record audio if it is set any higher than stereo. And of course I'm playing 5.1. God damn it.

By the way it would be a good idea for you guys to post the mission number when you're spoiler talking. Not everyone is at the same spot so there's no way of knowing what horrors lurk behind your blacktext. I dont want to find out that Quiet is Chico yet so I just cant read your post unless you specify. YOU GUYS COME ON.

Could you not CQC
Quiet
during the fight? I tried but couldn't get it to work. Took forever with my stun SMG, but it was an awesome fight.

Mine, until I get my FOB up and running:

So when do we get our base running? Ive completed episode 4 and Kaz tells me I can build and that he wants me to pick which platforms but I cannot find in the menu where to do it. All I really see are my recruits. I auto assign buthow do I tell them to do this or that? I can make stuff in the items sub, but base expanding is not there.

Just finished Mission 12 I was cringing so hard when
Miller was forcing Hueys exoskeleton to bend his leg forward.... ughhh

Yep, gotta do it all over again. That really killed my interest in playing the game any further for a good long while. "Fuck your hour and a half of progress, we tell you to run but we are going to punish you for running too far! LOL OPEN WORLD GAME DESIGN"

Yeah, the entirety of the Earth should be in the game so there are no bounds!

Holy shit that MGS3 callback:
Right down to the lines Big Boss say to Ocelot when he uses the engraved revolver. Instead here it's an engraved M1911

Does PP retain the cinematic experience of the other games despite the move to open world gameplay? The prologue was promising in that regard.

Same exact thing happened to me. Let's just say I didn't go for the stealth approach because I was so irritated.

...

I ended up with a "B" Rank anyways.

Why would boundaries instantly fail you the entire mission. I mean the entire mission. It didn't give me any options to retry from checkpoint like if you die, it just says fuck you, do it all over again.

Probably has to do with constraints due to it being crossgen. If you get out of the border it probably despawns everything.

It's a ways off from where you are now. I'm well past that, and I still don't have it.

Haha now we need service maintainance and technical difficulties.

WE ARE THE SUPPORT CREW!
