Even though Im not the biggest fan of Boss not talking much, I do love how when he does it's pretty powerful and you can tell everyone takes his words to heart. Love that moment when you brought
Quiet
back to base.

Ah I didn't even think about
getting in the tanks (I suppose because I want to do everything non-lethally). I managed to extract the two tanks without being seen no problem, but fultoning the tank would alert all of the Skulls and I just legged it to the edge of the mission area.
I laid down C4 to stop the convoy like the other poster, but just got found out when sneaking around.

For missions like that, which almost require an action approach, I'd recommend going lethal. Ie use the tanks yourself. Later on, once you have better non-lethal weapons (non-lethal SMGs, assault rifles, sniper rifles, stun grenades) go back and do those missions non-lethal.

Ended up looking up a video for R&D Target Practice.

Even then it was still pretty confusing.

Total clusterfuck.

Just wanted to say that the first encounter with
Sahelanthropus
made me shit my fucking pants holy fuck

Kojima is GOD

That was incredible wasn't it.

(Pretty big spoilers:)

I think that's been the best use of the open world so far. It was glorious. And it feels like the first time in the entire series we were in an appropriate environment to fight/escape
a Metal Gear.

good lord the r&d target practice course is a scavenger hunt in a maze. best score I have gotten is 16 :/-

I managed to beat it yesterday.
IMO best way to do it is by shooting the first 5 targets when you begin and then take the stairs to your left. There are 2 targets behind the stairs just under the helipad there is also one target hanging above you, when descending the stairs, that i always missed.
Well after those targets you just have to keep going around the platform and the various vents in every floor.
Finally keep in mind that there are only 4 targets on the ground floor and no targets at all on the lower ones where the lifeboats are, so don't waste time searching there.

I'm at work right now but when i get home, I will maybe upload a video

Well after going from a love-love to love-cautiously love to love-maybe-I'm-scared-of-commitment with this game, things have finally come full circle and I'm enjoying this not only as an amazing game in it's own right, but as a Metal Gear game again. All love-love.

I'm on mission 10, just about to finish chapter 1 I suppose, (which is insane considering I've put about 25 hours into the game..11%), and everything is coming together. The story and cutscenes, which I was getting a bit worried about because I was spending so much time with side stuff, are picking up and becoming exciting in that Metal Gear way I need. And seeing Mother Base start to get cranking and reaping the benifits is really rewarding. I love this game. I don't think I'm going to need another game until SF5, and it's so awesome to know that I'll be spending all that time playing a fucking METAL GEAR game.

About the only thing that has still remained dissapointing to me at this point is Ocelot. I really, really don't like what they've done with Ocelot. And it makes me very sad.

My new workout routine for Big Boss during downtime at Mother Base. Climb to roof of R&D deck one using pipes and vents then quickly getting down while listening to Final Countdown.

The pipe climbing animation is amazing

I'm new to this series. I've seen some videos of MGS5 and really want to try this series. I can play MGS1,2,3 on emulator, peace walker on my Vita. Already have Ground Zero on my PS4 but the problem is I don't have a PS3 any more so I'd be missing out 4. Would that be a problem? Would I miss a big part of the story?

Going back to Mission
16
, I'm so glad that I've started looking away from the screen when the credits roll at the beginning of each mission. Made the ending a total surprise which I loved.

Wait, the 5 when you begin?

Isn't there only 1-2 when you begin, standing on that platform?

And when you say stairs to your left, do you mean stairs to your right? The one that goes down to the outside and there's a target above you and two ahead?

Ah, yes, I think we're just using right/left relatively. The stairs that go down next to the helipad. We're on the same page.

Mother of god...

(spoilers, only those that beat the game should check. Didn't finish the game but HOLY SHIT MOMENT)

Man, I really dug the use of language and how Kojima used it with his own thing and this whole vocal parasite angle. This episode(43) really reminded me of The Thing, so gooooooooooooooooooooooooooood. That was amazing, sublime atmosphere.

You would miss how it all ends. You can always watch it on YouTube. Pretend it's a LOTR extended marathon.

I can finally begin TPP this afternoon. Can't wait.

MGS4 follows the story of Solid Snake, set around 40 years ahead of MGSV. There may be a few little bits and pieces, but for the most part, 4's story is completely separate to this.

3, PW and GZ are the most important here, as they follow Big Boss

That thing re-spotted me as my chopper was descending low enough for me to board it. So the entire
animation of me putting Huey and myself on the chopper
was in slow-motion.

I've never been mixed with such feelings of anger and hope at the same time.

Just dive in on 5 man. Play Ground Zeroes first if you have it already.

Basically MGSV's main plot is almost entirely self contained. There's context about what Big Boss/Snake did in the past, but you can survive without that. It's a revenge story in its own right.

75% of the MGSV is gameplay.

15% is story cutscenes which you don't need much/any knowledge of the series for.

The other 10% is in cassette tapes which are optional, there just for those who have played all the game/love the story.

Skip 4. You'll be happier for it

Is it unlocked upon getting med bay or do I have to do something. I have a red door and two that aren't activated either way.

Go through the blue-light door. Then press Triangle/Y at the next door inside (depending on what sort of controller you're using).

EDIT: And you have to complete a specific Side Op for the blue-light door to be unlocked.

DOUBLE EDIT: What Marvel said.

When you begin except the first 2 that you refer to, there are also 3 targets below you, 2 of them hiding behind poles or something like that i think and there is also one just below the ledge where you begin. Press triangle on the ledge drop down and shoot those 3 targets, then go back up and take the stairs to the left :P.
Sorry it is indeed complicated and it needs a lot of practice.

Btw one thing that also annoyed me was that when you die, because you fell from a platfom for example all the side ops that you did on Mother base are not saved so you have to do them again.Fuuuu....

So, I have a feeling about Miller (just finished mission 12)

He's fucking paranoid about everything, and he doesn't approve some things BB does. I think we will come to a breakdown sometime in the future.
