if only there was a way to make things like this more clear

like

what if while they were talking, we saw their face on the screen

How do you utilize the posters on your cardboard box?

M/KB

I find it hard to tell Miller and Ocelot apart some times. I wish these subtitles made it clear who was speaking.

I see what you did, but I agree, Miller and Ocelot sound the exact same.

...maybe if Ocelot retained a Russian accent.

Yeah it's kind of annoying they have similar mannerisms.

It's kinda sad I feel like they've really toned down some of the VA in this game to be less "gamey" because they've got a successful actor playing the MC. But then it makes radio chatter from characters like Ocelot really bland when before this game I would have died to have Ocelot on my radio talking about random shit and giving me orders.

Reducing the frustration of travel time and lack of codec calls with one solution: put on a cassette convo while traveling. Gives open space a purpose and makes for a more interactive info dump than in any previous MGS.

A very reliable tip for those wanting to move around the motherbase faster

there's should be transport containers or something where you can stand there and put on your box disguise and you can transport to any area, easier and faster than driving or calling the chopper

Oh for fuck's sake. Fired the troublemaker in R&D and I'm back at 11 :(

Don't worry about it, I've willingly gone down a level or two to get rid of the cunty soldiers as the troublemakers could have far worse consequences on many of your soldiers. You'll get those levels back up in no time. :)

the guy who says "You're taking him, too?" is Miller and the guy who says "Boss, that's a medicinal plant." is Ocelot.

Done.

Mission 12 was pretty good. Now to go get that goddamn transport specialist in mission 10 so I can actually fulton vehicles and stuff out.

The Checkpoint option is basically Restart Mission in this. Everytime I load my last checkpoint during a mission it just puts me in front of the area and I have to pick up everything again...

It's like The Beatles, when I was younger I found it difficult to guess if Lennon or McCartney were singing, but after a while everyhing clicked for me and later on only occasionally I were like "yeah this is McCartney... no wait is Lennon... hum...".

Specific character-related spoilers, don't read unless you have the med bay and fully explored it

WTF at Kojima straight up retconning Paz. I'm starting to wonder if Snake is schizophrenic, or this story is.

Questioning Huey tape
3

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

Yeah, some of the tapes have some really shocking info in them.

Questioning Huey Tape 2

Kojima actually explained the Dr. Clark retcon in a rather satisfying way so that both MGS1 and MGS4 have the right info now.

People always mock Kojima as a writer, but his knowledge on so many different things such as history, culture, science etc is really something. Dude just has an encyclopaedic knowledge on so much and always injects it into his works.

The knowledge isn't always his, at least when he goes into a project, since Konami has hired specialists in medicine, science, history and the military to give Kojima's projects authentic detail ever since Snatcher, but to his credit the man does have a very keen interest in knowledge, and he knows that his fanbase laps it up.

It depends on the location and the mission. I'm pretty sure every side op lacks checkpoints though (although if you complete it, it's done, even if you die immediately after).

Because it's not a spoiler?

It's a pretty big bomb you dropped, since
anyone who has been avoiding spoilers in the year and a half since Ground Zeroes released will be assuming that she's dead.

I was fortunate enough to play the entire game spoiler-free, but I certainly wouldn't have been happy if I read your post, particularly in light of your selfish refusal to admit what you did was wrong and implement spoiler tags.

Quick Q: I have a side op (
28, Prisoner extraction 02
) that is checked off but not greyed out for some reason. What's that about?

Also, I have unlocked the second
helicopter
, but the first one still has the 'Equipped' marker in the development menu. What's up with that?

Ok, now that I've done the other target practice's I want to know what the person who made the one for R&D was thinking.

can anyone help me with the mission called Angel with broken wings

I am at the camp type place where Malak is supposed to be. Ive spent about 15 minutes just walking around killing everyone. I interrogated loads of people and nobody is telling me where he is. I found 2 prisoners that I extracted, but that apparently wasnt the guy. Where the fuck is this person

Im on mission 12, the mother base menu hurts me to look at, I've just been auto assigning everyone. Am I handicapping myself in any way?

Damn I guess I've really got to watch out for those troublemakers.

I would never in a million years thought to have looked for that trait, I usually just bulk-recruit everyone.

Lashley

Why does he wear the mask!?
Wtf at that scene in the med bay

That can't really be Paz can it? Some how my staff morale went down and the med team levelled down too after the scene? I showed her the pic. What else should I do?

This Motherbase grind is killing me. The amount of resources and money you need at the high levels is insane. Konami must have fucked around with this stuff.

I know, right? Kojima is just straight up retconning this shit.

But I suppose you're to collect more photos over the course of the game. And I assume collecting them is all how you get the true ending, but that's just conjecture.

I credit Hidenari Inamura with all of the good writing in this game.

He seems to have his name attached to the classy episodes.

I don't find it terribly difficult to distinguish Ocelot and Miller. One is Sam Elliot by way of Troy Baker, the other is Kaz.

You're in the actual stronghold? He's in one of the rooms on the other side of the stronghold from the 2 optional prisoners.

The very first soldier I interrogated there told me his location lol

You guys really can't tell the difference between Ocelot and Kaz? Kaz is usually really angsty or skeptical, and Ocelot is usually the one dropping Wikipedia bombs on you. And he's also Troy Baker with a bad cowboy accent.

Played 8 hours. More or less enjoying it, but these are some criticisms I've got of it so far:

- Open world 'take the outpost' style gameplay is derivative of other games and repetitive
- Story is densely packed into the background which is a poor delivery system for something which this much information to portray
- Helicopter feels like a waste of time 10 missions in, it should be skippable, credits are pointless (although you can skip through most of this at least)
- Waiting for Mother Base to feel important beyond being a weapons shop you can access in the menu
- Accessing cassette tapes should be much more intuitive if it is supposed to provide entertainment during the dull travelling sections. The constant radio and UI chatter going over tapes doesn't help either.

Overall I would've preferred a normal MGS style game over this. This kind of thing you can get in places like Far Cry, GTA, Skyrim, Fallout - you name it. I felt a bit fatigued in the 2nd mission already because I could foresee the gameplay of the next 50 ahead of me. As of mission 10 that prediction hasn't been disproven. I hope as more gameplay elements get brought up and the story progresses things that to feel more distinct but right now this is a fine game which just kind of improves on an open world formula that has already been done.

I have no idea whats going on.
He is not here, nobody is telling me where he is. I have killed everyone and checked in every room

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
Tip: you can jump on D-Horse while running, if you call the horse while you run it will run beside you until you get on it.

Seemed pretty easy to distinguish for me.

Kaz is either chirpy or sad (which is terrible; he sounds like he has two different personalities). Ocelot has a bad gruff accent.

Jesus, I accidentally clicked on the spoiler thread in a bored haze and saw some things that I did not want to see. Don't make my mistake.

Whenever I think about the game I feel the same as the bolded – but every time I actually boot it up I get proven wrong. The missions really start mixing shit up from about 11 onwards, and only do so more and more as you go on.
