sucked ass. The idea was fine, but
SURPRISE SKULLS are not fun to fight. They'd be more enjoyable if the AI didn't fucking cheat (they always point and walk towards your location even if you're not alerted), and they weren't borderline impossible to deal with if you don't have exactly the right gear. I managed to beat them by extracting the truck, using the cheating AI to lure three of the four into a C4 pile, and then running out of the hotzone while the last Skull was impossible to lose due to exceeding my mobility. And once I exited the hotzone, despite the Skull still in frame, the game just goes MISSION COMPLETE and erases the Skull from existence. So I won, but only by exploiting shittier parts of the design.

Where is it?

go to the R&D platform and near the heli pad if you look around there is stairs that go DOWN and near the stairs is a sign saying something like "advanced lab facilities here" and there will be an arrow pointing down

if i remember correctly the sign was black color

its basically underneath the area when you get out of the cutscene after mission 19

Looking forward to unlocking the gun customisation, but at the moment I'm wishing for uniform customisation more. The Sneaking Suit's silent footsteps are so useful that I'm pretty much never going to use anything else, camo index be damned, but it makes for a bit of a monotone experience. It'd be so nice if I could combine the Sneaking Suit's shoes with the normal camo fatigues.

Just finished Mission 12 and got a huge influx of available development projects. Between that and my newly unlocked Cargo Fultons letting me take vehicles home with me, I managed to turn 2.5 million GMP into 6,000 :P

btw, does the Trophy for completing a mission with a Combat Unit member have to be a main story episode? I just finished one of the Prisoner Extraction Side Ops with a dude named Jackal who ran at Jamais Vu Raiden speed and the Trophy didn't pop.

I wish you could change camo on the fly. I'm not a clairvoyant! I also wish there was a camo dex. I need those sweet, sweet numbers.

You didn't need to beat those skulls at all and just use the homing AI to your advantage in a different way. It took me a couple of tries to figure that out, so I perfected the tank destruction already, but here's how I did it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOa7SaqYlBs . Just a lot of walking and running.

Jump in their tanks. Or better yet, when they arrive at the second town there's an AA gun that can kill them a Skull in seconds. It does suck, until you know what can really deal damage to them.

And later on (non-story spoiler)...
there's an EXTREME version.

Afghanistan is an incredibly annoying map, it's just roads surrounded by canyons that you cannot bypass and as such you have no choice but to go around forever so that you can reach the place that is actually only about 100-200m away but you can't get to it because canyons. The game has a climbing mechanic in place but it is so sparingly used.

It's easily the worst thing about open world maps, most games avoid it these days but MGS5 has a lot of things that used to be present in older open world games.

I like the Skulls kind of. Only their primary fire sucks, the rest can be easily avoided. You can bait them into melee and counter them.

One of the encounters is even among my favourites in the franchise.

So I restarted this to play it on PC, and to try to have a better start to the game overall. (Higher ranks on early missions, better choices on development.)

At the end of the Phantom Limbs mission,
How the hell do I get past the Skulls without being noticed?

True ending doesn't take that long to unlock after the first one. It (very slight spoilers)
kind of tricks you into thinking you need to redo a lot of old missions on Extreme or Total Stealth, but you don't. You can just do side ops and it'll unlock the last few main story missions and cutscenes.

Chapter 2 spoilers. This is getting incredible.

So mission 43 is incredible. Keifers performance at the end really sold it too, I appreciate the change from Hayter a lot more now. Kind of blown away by that whole mission now.

Its still so weird how silent Big Boss is.

Just finished mission 31, a ton of shit was happening.

Guy said like one line. That coma really destroyed his personality.

Yup, I m also not a fan of that.

I mean it's ok that you want him to be less talkative than before but they went way too far. It just seems super awkward that he doesn't react at all to some stuff. It really just seems like they didn't want to pay Kiefer too much money so they cut a bunch of lines.

My buddy was telling me that going full homicidal in side op missions and free roam (which I still dont know how to do, but I just started only on mission 4) doesn't effect your heroism/demon score or something? He said he could of sworn he read online that those two don't effect horn growth and the inevitable bloodtrail if you decide to just kill everyone in sight. Is this true? Thanks!!

Nothing better than CQC'ing fools with Rebel Yell playing

My Game of the Generation, and apart from the Souls/Bloodborne series possibly my favourite game of the last 10 years.

Just need to clear a few Side Ops and I'm done. Best week off work ever.
I noticed that my percentage of success depends on Rebel Yell.

I don't think it's possible. You run and then scream when you lose points after getting hit for the first time.

Also when I was hiding in the toilet, I played a tape of guy going to the bathroom through the speaker. A guard noticed it with ! but he didn't open the door.

Yeah if you kill people when you are not in a mission, there is no penalty. Honestly I'm not even sure if you actually lose heroism points if you kill someone in a main mission either. I've lost it by causing the alert status or letting prisoners die. Losing heroism points is not a big deal though. You at most lose maybe ten and get so much back for doing the smallest of things.

Skulls slowly move towards you, even when they haven't spotted you, so you can lure them to where you want them to be just by positioning yourself. The two Skulls on the left will go under the bridge and the two on the right will go over it, but there's a third path to the right of the bridge with a ramp up to the other side. Either stay in your starting position until the Skulls are halfway to you and then sneak around that right path, or immediately take the right path to lure the two Skulls on the right off the bridge and then sneak over the bridge yourself.

At nearly 30 hrs at episode 20.

I honestly now dont mind seeing whats or who is coming up in the credits pre mission into. I sort of get hyped at any story development so knowing major players will appear pushes me fwd.

Holy crap....I must be REALLY taking my time with this game. I'm at 33 hours and I've only completed up to mission 13 and about 22 side ops. The lowest rank i've got on a main op is a B with an S and a few A's

I'll give it a try. Thanks.

Good to hear. I'm doing mission 29 next, so it looks like I'm close to the end, maybe I'll even finish the true ending tonight. I've already played the game for 42 hours so I've certainly got my money's worth.

Holy shit. This game.
I Think about it all the time.
I have put this game's songs on my cellphone.
At work, I cant wait to get home and play this.
I even DREAM with this.

I have never felt this in 13 years, since I played Zelda OoT.

Thank you, Kojima. Thank you very much

Yea, I have to say I'm really not a big fan of it at all. I definitely did not think I would play a MGS game where I wish a character would talk more.

On the flip side Miller could do with talking a lot less. What a Debby Downer.

Next few missions are very time consuming, don't count on getting the ending tonight but tomorrow would be possible.

About to start that mission myself. Can't you just have Quiet deal with them?

So wait, is the story really not good in this?

No spoilers please.
I don't get the hate. I love mgs. I miss my 90 minute cut scenes and being interrupted every 10 steps by codec calls full of 4th wall breaking tutorials and Wikipedia knowledge bombs. It's like Stockholm syndrome.

I'm 40 hours in and yeah it feels like the story is definitely on the back burner. Remember that part of snake eater where you fight the end, go up the ladder sneak all the way up a mountain, into a huge base all with barely any story or dialogue interrupting you? Mgsv is like that, except way more of it. The story is still there. Every single cut scene has been meaningful and memorable for me. The direction, the dialogue is better than its ever been imho. It's just restrained. It's subtle. Remember how everybody alway said Kojima needs an editor? Well apparently he got one.

Again, I miss the mgs4 levels of excess and maybe they dialed it back too much here but what's there is still really, really good. Some of the best dialogue and story in the series. Also the cassette tapes. They are great and you can listen to them while doing anything, missions, base building, whatever.
