AFAIK the core mechanic is still in, it just doesn't tell you your camo index and you're not meant to switch your camo a lot. So far it hasn't given me any real problems.
I'm about 30 hours in and just now beat mission 13. Very few times have I had to resort to something other than my tranquilizer but this process can make things go by a bit slow. At this point I'd say MGSV has the best gameplay of the series but still not seen enough story to judge it yet.
Has anyone had lots of GMP just go missing? I don't have a FOB up and running or anything. I just logged in for today and have lost hundreds of thousands.
uhm if it's the mission I think it is, then miller gives you an radio message that they're gonna do their thing at night time. So you can watch them go around in circles until night, or search the area to find what they're looking for before them.
Mission 45 is some pure fucking horseshit. Anytime this game decides to throw mountains of armored vehicles at you it just goes to complete trash. Combined with the horrible checkpoint system you can lose a ton of progress from a single hit from these damn things.
The more of this bullshit I encounter in the second half of this game, the more I turn on it. I was merely tolerating it before because I felt it was worth it, but now I legitimately think the second half of this game is bad. Mission spoilers:
How about redoing the Quiet fight except this time she one hit kills you if she sees you for more than a second? Or missions 16 and 29 against the Skulls that are just boring sponge fights where they can wipe you at in a second too? It's bad design and frustrating.
You can win the battle by throwing sleeping gas bullets with the chopper on her location. Just mark her with the binoculars and call the chopper.
For the Skulls:
You can kill (and extract them too) by going to a roof and call the chopper for some missiles. You can use the rocket launcher too.
If you go to the roof they rarely go upstairs, and if they go just run around until they go down again.
And go with Quiet with the best rifle

Anyone know how to get an Anesthesia specialist? I've played the game for so long now on mission 35 and still don't have one. I feel like I missed something.
Also mission 35ish tape
with Ocelot interrogating huey (3) was really fucked up. Poor Strangelove
Go to a roof and shoot them with the rocket launcher. Also, you can call the chopper for support missiles.

Go to Mother Base. Look at the yellow loading base. You can find these in bases out in the world, grab the invoice off of them to unlock it. You have to be in your cardboard box and enemies cannot be alerted at all - so if the white notice appears as if an enemy noticed you (not spotted) it doesn't count...so essentially useless.
Anyone know why my character sounds like she's having an asthma attack whenever I sprint? I took a few sniper shots and a mortar during a fight earlier but no prompt for emergency first aid appeared.
Now that I think about it not once in my 40+ hours of playing this has it shown up.
Reading Kojima's insights on the game in the artwork gallery in the collectors guide is interesting. So sad this is the last MGS game we'll play . No more fan theories, no more hype, no more kojima mind games, it's over .
Man those opening credits for every episode are annoying as hell, wish they wouldn't give away who's gonna show up in it. Think I'm just gonna turn away from the screen from now on because it gives the surprises away. Biggest misstep in my opinion is this when it comes to the story.

Is there a glitch where subtitles saying "Hm?" will briefly show up for no reason when there's no one who could have said it? Got it a lot during the (post mission 30 spoilers)

Since a lot of people are having trouble with them, here is a easy way to kill
and extract them. This doesn't work for the sniper skulls. (You can run from them)

When the battle begins run to a roof and equip the rocket launcher and shoot them from there. They rarely go upstairs, and if they go just run around until they go down again. You can win faster if you call the chopper for support missiles, because they move in the same pattern the most of the time.
It's the best way to kill them for normal and extreme difficulties.
Can someone please tell me, if I beat this game would i still be able to go back and play around with side-ops and redo the main missions? Or do I have to start a new game and start from beginning and unlock all the missions again in order to play through them?

I'm nearly 22 hours in and just finished episode 12. I'd be done with an MGS game by now, but I'm sensing that I'm not even close here. Am I spending too much time doing other stuff? Is there a fast way to progress through the story?
Can I go back to a mission and complete individually previously incomplete mission tasks ? Like, only focused on the incomplete ones and then finish off the mission. Or do all tasks have to complete all mission tasks in one go ? Also, how about all the collectables such as tapes and shiny objects ? Can I go back to a mission and just slowly collect those individually or they all have to be collected in one go for it to all count ?

It triggers story events. You need to shower or you get flies buzzing around you and it attracts enemies to your location if one is nearby (you also smell really bad)
Showering makes you "physically and mentally refreshed" as the game states
You get to see your bad ass emblem all over your base. When a DD sees you it raises thier morale.
It's all bullshit reasons to wander around a very empty and boring place, but it does trigger story moments /cut scenes when you go back to the base sometimes.

I love this game. I really can't see myself tiring from it any time soon. Around 35 hours in, just over 20%. Just unlocked the ability to customise DD and it's fantastic
