Yeah I guess I was overstating it a bit lol. I've warmed up to some songs a lot compared to my initial reaction (which is kinda rare for me).

Musically it just sounds so good. Even a track like You Ain't Gotta Lie where Kendrick isn't rapping much (vocals sound pretty good tbh) it works.

I'll probably peep it later. I dunno, I'm not really all that eager, even though I like Rock. Still need to listen to Populair also, though people have been saying that's a disappointment =[

I think the steam greenlight ass release ruined the hype for the album to be honest. Shit should have been released a month ago.

Probably. I also started to get a bad vibe when he put out the title track. I was more excited after just hearing Money Trees Deuce and Gumbo.

Exactly. I thought Rock was going towards a laid back jazzy approach like Kenny. It would have work for dude since those two tracks shit on the title track.

Smh I'm also sadden at the fact that the SZA track was so short :(

that beat sounded magnificent

I wish they came out with a compilation of all the beats dudes made on this show

the new Sprite format blows though, I have to open the Shazam app on my phone to try and figure out what records he's using and shit

Dude I would drop money on that shit. Lawd, some of those beats were so good except whatever the fuck Skywlkr made (I blame it on the weed). Yeah, the Sprite sponsor needs to go. I know it's probably for a short time, but seeing Mannie Fresh cooking up a basic ass beat in that fake setting pains me :/.

Just was probably the best out of the producers that did the Sprite segments. Exile was alright, but he could have done a little bit more. Georgia was wack as hell skimming through the fucking record and picking the most meh samples for that average ass beat.

Jay Rock sounds so uncomfortable on Easy Bake. Either he's always sounded like that or he's trying to change his voice just for that song and it sounds weird.

In an interview he said that he was experimenting with different voices. In easy bake he went back to the regular voice after the sza verse.

What the fuck is this 90059 hook brehs?

I never listened to the track when it dropped, I wanted to hear it first on the album.

EDIT:

This silly flow that everyone is using might have ruined Vice City, totally not catchy, not a smart move

yeah, looking forward to TPAB vinyl in october

also since ya'll on master mac miller's nuts what's his best shit?

Speaking of Kendrick and TPAB...People always talk about replayability like it's such a tremendous factor in determining quality when in reality an album that's more thought provoking and evocative might see less plays because it requires greater attention than say your average trap album. For example, a film like Schindler's List is probably less replayed than something like Grandma's Boy, but that doesn't mean that Grandma's Boy is a better film.

can absolutely agree with this; my go-to example in cinema is Grave of the Fireflies. it's fucking fantastic but i can't watch it again.

while i can bump Midnight Marauders like once a month, there's recent stuff like say Days with Yen Lo that will rank high my AOTY list but i don't revisit often...replayalbility is nice for certain albums but some i take in & leave it at that, or save a replay for a certain vibe.

Is this really a Drake diss? lol damn. Drizzy may have won the beef with Meek, but this whole QM situation has been a low key L.

did we ever find out why he did this? it's not like YMCMB isn't known for stiffing dudes so i assumed it's that, but i wonder if it was something else...figure you really gotta get fucked on something to burn that bridge

"..just know you'll never be shit."
still the height of that beef...is this the same dude as the turtles ones? cause if so, i'm a fan
he's already put in more work than that im the juggernaut bitch dude years back

Kendrick performance was good. I could do without the seizure Mr. Roboto shit tho.

He's upped his performance game so much over the past year, I would definitely consider going to a show of his now vs. before.

I can't stop playing that new Abhi//Dijon. Highly recommended for anyone needing some R&B.

Yeah, the whole thing is confusing. I still don't even know why Meek started the beef in the first place.

yeah...this Abhi//Dijon is nice. hitting up the miller links after

see i thought that was Mill catching feelings over drake not tweeting his album, it's Quentin's destruction of (presumably, possibly not?) a gravy train that puzzled me

That's probably it, but even that always felt a little weird to me. Messing up his friendship with Drake over a tweet? Despite Drake helping out his career? It all just seems really odd.

And yeah QM situation is weird also, who knows what's goin' on there.

Yea vice city is fairly garbage.

Why do replay value discussions always go back to Schindler's List lol

Replay value is still king though, IMO, at least when you're talking about personal rankings. I can admit one album is more thought provoking and impactful or even better outright, yet rank it much lower than something else that caught my ear and made me go back time and time again. It has nothing to do with deeper music inherently being less replayable or whatever, it's just about the sounds and flows that catch my ear and create a tone I want to go back to. In that sense I get where Fjordson is coming from regarding TPAB. Sometimes you ain't into all of Kendrick's more coarse vocal qualities, or you might not always be in the mood for the style of music he's drawing inspiration from.

Wait where was this said?

coulda sworn amazon had it up once, but not now? found this though

*edit haha look at this fuckery, took like 7 months and this is what you get when you wanna preorder

At Interscope's request, however, we've hidden our listing until the label can get an official announcement of the vinyl release out into the world, at which point our listing will be back right back up at this page.

I must be the only dude that's feeling Vice City :(....

Track is different from the usual Black Hippy posse cuts. Ab Soul needs to fucking get it together with those "waiting on the rimshot" raps lately...

Haha, I like it too! Somehow really digging that flow.
Overall, definitely a neat, smooth album. Nothing mind-blowing, but not bad either.

Well, I guess I'll have to check out that Abhi//Dijon. Never heard of them.

Real-talk, though, I can definitely understand how you might feel pissed for not getting the recognition for helping with some of Drakes biggest recent anthems/lines/memes. Still, not a good idea to bite the hands that feed you. As a songwriter you just have to accept staying behind the scenes.
