Did anyone actually say Ken won't be in? I said with the direction they were going he might not make the cut but I don't think anyone actually said he wouldn't be in.
Capcom had said clone types wouldn't be in and alot of people took that to mean Ken would be cut.

Hey, Birdie and R.Mika have "projectiles" now. You can argue that Vega also has. Anything it's possible.
With the first tease I said it was Karin. But there are many characters that could involve wind/tornados... So at this point I don't know anymore.
I hope it's Karin with a windy projectile

It started because Ken is the kind of character one would expect at the Initial reveal. Not as a "surprise" reveal after like 8 character.
Chun,Bison,Nash,Cammy,Birdie got revealed before him and Capcom said no "clone" characters. So people assumed Ken was going to be the poster boy for a "Super SF5".
Alright, I am locking in my pick for the reveal. It's Rachid. Ono is purposely throwing us off with the tornado making us think it's Cody. Just like his Brazil Game show character tease wearing a Blanka outfit which will totally turn out to be Laura.
They won't bother going to Dubai and revealing a random character. They are trying to cater to the ME fans.

Add that there's someone in Dunai claiming that it's not a new character... And aparently has some credibility, so... It could be a misinterpretation by Ono or the TO but...
Also, what's the point in speculate which new character could be if it's new?

Far more than Decent , for a character thats literally in almost every SF game. Thats pretty high.
Seth is also a character people seem to detest gameplay wise like Fuerte/Viper.
That's not the same thing at all. I think Seth is one of the worst Street Fighter designs of all time, Vega is just Vega.

Sounds more like they want to monetize on those sf3 hardcore boners. If I were Capcom I would make all fan favorites(top spots in votings) and all SF3 characters dlc.
I wonder if they still do the "different teams all work on their own character design" thing that they did for SF2. That part of the process was fascinating to me- everyone was in their own bubble working on a different character, leading to a cast that's not homogenous in the least.

Shaheen's design is top tier. I don't want Rachid to look exactly like him, but he's a great character for them to draw from. Making him as beautiful as Shaheen instead of weird like Hakan would be ideal, but so long as Rachid's not a walking stereotype like I'm half-afraid he will be, I'm excited to see what he'll look like!
World Warrior characters ALWAYS share a much more sizable share of popularity than literally every other Street Fighter character (with few exceptions.)

More as a hold over than anything. Bison has to have his cronies. I won't dispute he is more popular than Seth, that's a given. But I will say he hasn't been a really popular character since SF2 days. Considering all of the other characters people are clamoring for, Vega was near the bottom. His announcement was met with pretty much.. "Meh." overall. That's what most people think about him.

Remember when Cammy was teased for SFxT? That video got like more dislikes than a justin bieber video.
Just watch the hate when Blanka comes out , oh man. But from a casual perspective these are the characters they know. And are needed for the game to feel familiar.
And WTH Vega was OP in ST. Everyone played him. CvS2 also he was good.

This is just wrong. Even when you tried to be safe by adding "with a few exceptions", it's still wrong.

Dhalsim, Honda, and Balrog don't do well in polls. Lots of non WW characters do better than they do. So, that's already 25% of the WW cast that defies your premise. Then, you look at the top 12, and only 5 of those characters are WW characters.
This goes far beyond "a few exceptions".
Some of you folks are really overstating the "SF2 is the most popular game" schtick.
I repeat, just because a character was in SF2 doesn't mean they are more POPULAR than other characters. It might mean they're more FAMILIAR, but not necessarily more LIKED. And, as time goes on, this is going to become more and more true as SF4 is the new SF2.
