The surf was rubbish but I went out for about 5 minutes or so, then came back in because I felt sketchy being out there by myself. There's been something like six attacks around here in the last 6 months or so, a fatality by a great white in February, and another guy got severely mauled in July(Mick Fanning donated the money from his 60 Minutes interview to him).
I'm not that worried about sharks usually, and I've been in the ocean a thousand times, but the attacks have been really close together and they're happening like 5-10 metres from shore by big sharks...
Ahhh just found out they've been doing a "bait and tag" operation up here the last two weeks, tagging all the great whites in the area. Plus the whales and bait fish that are around, yeah I think I'll stay out of the water for a while.

Ah bummer about the surf. Yea empty beaches can be so eerie but also awesome at times to have to yourselves. Yea been hearing about the shark problems hopefully they move on quickly.

I go to Sydney every Monday and Tuesday to study, and it makes me miserable tbh (though that may be because I go on my only 2 days off, and because I never really get to do what I want when I'm there which is pretty much just going out for dinner and going to small bars)
Woo! Yeah, Newcastle is definitely a place to check out. It's becoming a lot more exciting here, too. I moved away for a year, and when I came back, there were so many cool new places open! Come in the summer so you can make the most of the beaches!

Goddamn, you're right! The deathmatch had me on the edge of my seat the whole time.

That sounds like a pretty awesome job, but I have zero relevant experience in web development, apart from the boring project management stuff.
