Probably the only cutscene where I felt "YES, this is MGS, more of this PLEASE".. fuck I miss the crazy action and fighting choreography.

Quiet had the best cutscenes. Minus the creepy pervy shower scene and the rain scene which could have been sweet and touching but was too much on the pervy side, she was a badass doing badass things and really such a Metal Gear boss character.

I gotta say, the finale of this game makes me feel a lot less angry about Big Boss barely talking. And shitty Kiefer doing the voice.

Hell, all bandaged up Big Boss helping Ahab at the hospital was quite the chatty fucker. Just like I remember him <3

As far as I'm concerned, Kiefer voices the phantom: a weird, shittier imitation of Big Boss who doesn't speak much. Hayter, meanwhile, is the real voice of Big Boss.

Why did the real Big Boss sound like Kiefer in TPP and GZ? I'm going to blame... Psycho Mantis. And leave it at that.

Mantis made the player hear Kiefer when it was really Hayter.

Yup, that's my head canon. lalalalalalalailulellolalalal

It...was...the parasites..in the...vocal cords.

Thanks Code Talker

Even with the comparatively lean approach to its storytelling, I still felt they did a good job of establishing that Big Boss and Venom Snake were the true villains after all. Let's be honest, was Big Boss ever really a good guy? The mission in the Quarantine Platform did a lot to show that..

You mean putting people out of their misery instead of leaving them to suffer a gruesome death at the hands of a contagious disease?

That makes as much sense as anything else in this game...I'm goin' with it.

You found the rain scene pervy? I didn't.... yes, there is some writhing but knowing how Quiet, well, lives, I found it more of a moment of intense relief than intense sexuality.

Do we even know if half of the stuff he said/was accused of actually happened?

Well he locked strangelove in the AI pod and put Hal inside of a metal gear as a child, and that's enough for me. considering the way he lies and weasels about when he's getting interrogated i have no doubts that he did everything he's accused of.

He gets what is coming to him.

If he dies out at sea, then yeah. if he washes up somewhere and lives out a peaceful existence, then nah.

We know that he makes it but then kills himself because Otacon was banging his wife.

Venom > BB

No regrets.

I mean more the angles the camera took, where it focussed.

It was a nice scene in theory, Quiet getting back from a mission, tired, thirsty and it raining on MB. She jumps down, soaks it in, dances and enjoys the rain. BB comes up to her and she starts playing with him, kicking water at him, having fun that doesn't involve shooting people, BB also opens up. It shows that they've grown closer, are more comfortable and trusting of each other despite Quiet's orders to kill him.

But the camera really wanted to focus on her boobs and ass.

Plus the whole thing with "I don't want to make these weapons, I just want peace" and then "Hey Boss I've made you another walking machine designed to kill people" and "Yay!!!! She's here! Woooooo! My baby!! What? Strangelove? Nooooo I kil- I mean Skull Face Killed her. I'm talking about Sahelanthropus, my baby! My one and only! Hal? What's a Hal? You mean that boy test subject?"

Oh, what's the deal with what code talker was saying about miller? just miller working with cipher stuff?

and what's the deal with miller having parasite eyes?

and where is miller's burger chain located?

Kiefer is doing a better job than Hayter.

The fact that people seriously think this after finishing TPP will never cease to amaze me. What exactly did you find so enthralling among the 16 lines he said? Was it how monotonous all of his readings were? Or was it maybe the facial capture that showed his wide range of emotions, from slighted miffed all the way to rather upset?

The reason why he sounded like Kiefer in GZ is because we were playing VS's recollection of the incident. So we never played as the real BB after PW. Dun dun dun.

whoooooooooah

spit it out!

keptyouwaitinghuh

*silence as skullface talks for 30 minutes*

Hayter would have made those grunt noises to, at least, acknowledge that Skull Face had spoken to him and occassional repeat a word to ask a question.

I dunno, I like Kiefer in parts of the game..... but I still miss Hayter because I just know the cost alone would given him more lines.

No, that's not what I'm saying. Yes, they had diseases and they had to be put down. I got that. But ultimately, I felt the sequence showed that they were just as wrapped up in the greater machinations of what it meant to be a part of Big Boss' army.

"We live and die for you, Boss."

The part where you mow down the soldiers in the room, with the Peace Walker theme playing on the cassette tape, was very effective in showing the distorted nature of what Diamond Dogs and ultimately Outer Heaven is all about. Even though Huey was a dick for most of the game, he speaking some truth during this scene. The soldiers in DD and MSF were truly just pawns. Even though those soldiers died in truly horrific ways, Diamond Dogs were out getting new ones not long after. I kinda felt guilty for essentially kidnapping soldiers and brainwashing them into joining this massive, nuclear armed cult.

Again, I realize they were all infected and they had to be put down, but it still was effective in showing the complex that Big Boss and the others created, and the one the soldiers ultimately bought into.

We sort of are, seeing as the 'camera' avoids the medic.

But that doesn't explain sugoi motorbike Big Boss.

Lori Alan had ONE SINGLE LINE in the game.

Nobody can tell me this was meant to be. There was just so much more to this game, i really should stop thinking about it...

So if you go wildly off the deep end and believe the rumor of the game having a planned five chapters is true, then extrapolate the amount of content chapter one had and believe there would have had to be a timeskip to 1995 -- do you think that somewhere in the offices of Konami, on a computer now being formatted to be pawned off for more pachinko dev kits, there's actually a recording of Hayter trying to make himself sound like a 20 year old Solid Snake?

And it's a secret he'll have to take to his grave unless Kojima lets him spill it years from now?

And right now, as Hayter is getting around to the end of Quiet's story in the final build, he's tearing up as he empathizes with a woman who must choose between staying silent, or speak and destroy that which he loves (an occasional voice acting gig with an ironclad NDA)?

Kojima really fiddled you. Everything we wanted the game to be... not even close. AND most of the game beats were spoiled in trailers hahaha.

Oh man... the only sad things to the whole ordeal is that the game i was even more excited for will never come to be for now. Silent Hills :(

For one, I could actually listen to Sutherland speak without thinking he's just phoning it in for a paycheck. Hayter sounded horrible in the last MGS title he was in, and I just don't believe he has it anymore. It was almost a joke, and I'm starting to think people just want Hayter back because they believe he'll bust out performances from MGS1 or 2, which I don't believe he has anymore.

I felt a greater degree of emotion and nuance form Sutherland, and to be frank, I took him more seriously as Snake than Hayter. And this is coming from someone that loved his work in MGS1-3. Kojima made the right call in replacing him.
