Dhalsim, Honda, and Balrog don't do well in polls. Lots of non WW characters do better than they do. So, that's already 25% of the WW cast that defies your premise. Then, you look at the top 12, and only 5 of those characters are WW characters.

This goes far beyond "a few exceptions"

Some of you folks are really overstating the "SF2 is the most popular game" schtick.

I repeat, just because a character was in SF2 doesn't mean they are more POPULAR than other characters. It might mean they're more FAMILIAR, but not necessarily more LIKED. And, as time goes on, this is going to become more and more true as SF4 is the new SF2.

You cant be serious with that.. SF2 characters have become mainstream gaming icons whether or not that poll says so.

Comparing the a poll from about hundred thousand hardcore fans ( with possible dupilcates). To the actual multi-million fanbase? That poll changes every time theres a new release.

Before SSF4 Ibuki,Dudley,Cody were the rage. Before SFxT Elena,Poison..etc were very high. And now its Karin,Q,Mika.
When it comes to mainstream popularity there are TONS of people who like WW characters.

Capcom knows this , which is why they arent just cookie cutting the top 16 characters and making a roster.
The poll gives them an idea of what characters the hardcore fans are interested in. So they try to make a combination of both Casual and Hardcore popularity.


When Capcom gives a poll after SF 5 and if people like Zangief,Dhalsim,Balrog dont make it in , watch them shoot up in ranks.

I just realized that literally 1/3 of the characters I push full-stop are mustachioed men who have at least some slight homage to Freddy Mercury in them. Whittle it down to 1/2 if we drop EX and Rival Schools characters. Which I usually do.

I don't think they've ever clarified if the first PC beta would be cross-play or not. Details overall have been very scant.

I just wanna try it out to get some indication of how it'll run. Capcom's definition of "Fall" can't get here soon enough.

I dunno, it's a poll of characters that Eventhubs readers (not to discredit them, I don't care about website community rivalries) wanted to see. Ken is at #20. I doubt that'd be an accurate reflection of a more general Western poll.

I think these polls are good for showing what veterans that didn't make the jump to IV to choose from. I think Capcom understands that whoever is voting in an EH poll would probably buy V regardless of who is in it.

it's the f'n dive kicks. I would mind them if there was a universal counter to them like parry of if they didn't have as much priority so some normals beat them. But yeah, when some characters can just spam dive kick and then land and there normals beat you, its like WTF?

SFV looks a lot more balanced in this area as V-triggers seems designed to highlight characters weakness and style. The universal mechanics so far are just a reversal and super atm.
