So uh, without having to go through 400ish pages, who wants to give me the cliffs on this 9/11 announcement Kojima ruse thing?

Confirmed to be a bust?

Yeah. This also really sucked. Totally took the hype out of the reveal when I realized I had to play it all again.
The one thing this website, Twitter and YT account has going for it is, it shown previously unreleased footage of GZ/TTP hospital scene last year, months before we seen it for ourselves. As well as in released art of Major Tom/Zero and Medic etc. That in itself is pretty strong evidence to say it's real, how would a website and YT account completely as of last year have un released footage and art? I have my doubts however, It seems so, blatantly fake, the website is pretty convincing but the YT account is weird.

I don't know, we will have to wait and see, no point getting our hopes up though because it'll be a big bunch of nothing.

Wait, where can I see the unreleased video and the Zero art?

Maybe he has a split personality disorder, considering his characterization darts between Good Ol' Kaz and Miserable Asshole Kaz.

Also, Chico getting a random mention about his off-screen death was strange. Felt there was potential to see him as an adult in 1984. Same with Amanda just disappearing and only being mentioned. Guess it's Nastasha Romanenko Syndrome all over again.

latest

Nastasha was an optional character to begin with and she still got her own book that you could read in MGS2's menu.

so what are the real nanomachines of this game, parasites or Mantis?

Both. TPP needs two "nanomachines" since this is the magnum opus Kojima is leaving for us./s

Eeeeh, they explain him, but it's not really all that conclusive and his plot line just kinda ends without ever being fleshed out AT ALL.

I agree. Plot lines ending without being fleshed out is pretty much the m.o. for this game. Either Kojima bit off more than he could chew #fraud or Konami is stingy #FucKonami

From nanomachines, two phantoms were born

Yeah I said that too before, he says it's just bright. But someone posted a picture showing his eyes seemed fine earlier on. That being said, who knows if the eyes are always like that, if he was infected already when V saves him, etc.

But yeah Miller is set up as some sort of villain.

I just thought the Russians fucked with his eyes when he was captive, nothing to do with parasites. Who knows.

WHY THE FUCK DO YOU MAKE ME PLAY THROUGH 45 MINUTES OF NOT BEING ABLE TO MOVE AND TUTURIAL, JUST MAKE A GODDAMN CUTSCENE OF THE DIFFERNCES TO HIGHLIGHT THEM, WHAT THE FUCK??
The last mission should have been the intro but this time you played as Ishmael.

Yeah good god what a mess. Fuckonami

Would have made more of an impact if adult Chico was Venom. It is pretty disappointing that out of everyone in the helicopter (without a bomb inside of them) he's the only one who died. And not disappointing in the way it was written, but in the emotional sense.

Chico was a traitor and couldn't follow an order to save his life, if he was Big Boss I would've been even more pissed.

V specifically asks him "did they do something to your eyes?" "no... it's just so bright". But we can see he has wounds close to his eyes.

It's hard to watch that mission 51/cut game content. Playing through chapter 2, it was SO obvious that the game was never intended to end there (outside of the big reveal/replay of the hospital scene, which is the obvious conclusion of the entire game's story). You slot that Eli stuff in between and the game would feel so much more complete. Hilariously, I say that after taking like 50 hours to finish the game, too. Probably longer than the other 4 MGS games combined. Truth is, there was a lot of padding in this game, and I didn't even attempt any of the "harder versions" of old missions.

Take some of that padding out, add a Liquid and Sahelanthropus filled chapter 3 to the game with a real final boss... man. What could have been?

Fuck Konami.

The youtube thing was confirmed fake by the channel owner.https://www.reddit.com/r/metalgearsolid/comments/3kbjuq/spoilerish_somethings_coming_on_911/cuwhbf2

Ugh, I'm so angry at myself for not noticing that Boss didn't have shrapnel in his head in the GDC 2013 trailer.

It is really dumb that they put this scene in a trailer. It basically gave away the twist.

So, with the whole disease thing that happens after mission 25, I was under the impression that if you isolated all the people with the right language, no one would die. I've got everyone outside people in the brig (who I can't move) but people are still dying. Was I wrong, and people die no matter what there?

I like how after an helicopter crash and all that, Miller still has his glasses on.

BTW, where the heck is the hospital they are treated in? Who saved them?? Is that ever addressed?

But in the Ishmael video posted ONE YEAR ago, there is a black dog head that flashes on screen for a split second. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lb5x-Slr7N0 Keep your eyes in the bottom right corner.

edit: nevermind, it seems like random shapes, one just happens to look like a dog :p

If you listened to all of the PW tapes you got another clue as BB said that he only smokes the real thing and wouldn't touch an e-cigar. The motorcycle scene at the end of the GDC trailer shows him with no scars except the horn and a real cigar.

Especially giving the "what about him?" line as well. Kojima gave every single bit of plot away other that all the parasite shit.

Watching a mission 45 playthrough because I cant be bothered to grind my bond with quiet up to max. It's literally the witcher at the end. you just follow the footprints.

The lyrics too "we are not your kind of people, you seem kind of phony, everything's a lie. We are not your kind of people, something in your makeup don't see eye to eye.". And there was no way "what about him?" meant Kojima inserting himself in the game in a dramatic scene like he answered in that interview... but now that I think about it, I can see why he chose to say that as a dodge as it is still a hint in a way with it representing the player.

If only chico didn't die, could've retconned one of those random metal gear bosses like machinegun kid into him instead of say he died on a random tape.

Why did they bother telling us his real name was Ricardo in GZ if they weren't gonna reintroduce him as an adult in TPP (where "Chico" would no longer apply)? That and the ambiguity of the chopper crash threw me off, I thought for sure he'd make it and have some role in the revenge story as the direct victim of Skull Face facing trauma over the 9 year period.

Kojima explained in the interview that "what about him?" referred to himself watching it all transpire.

Yeah, I don't know.

Well, he's right. The medic is supposed to be a player insert character. Except in Kojima's case, Kojima is already a character in the canon. So he's like the only person in the world that answer wouldn't apply to.

Honestly nothing is going to come of the whole 9/11 thing, it's a hilarious reaction to the ending as everyone expected. Honestly the assets are there, I can see modders putting mission 51 in the game. If the mood strikes one of them. Anyways, it sucks this is what we got, but it's not an awful game, the story is just bleh.

Another "as the credits rolled" thought. Listen to this for maximum effect.

What the fuck is the deal with Major Zero?

This dude went from a seemingly inconspicuous (dare I say forgettable) 1960s version of Colonel Campbell in MGS3 to HISTORY'S GREATEST MONSTER in MGS4. "Holy fuck", I thought, as Big Boss unplugged his life support at the end of 4, "What the hell is up with this dude? I'd really like to know how this innocent dude who broke Snake's balls in the 60s for not liking James Bond became this tyrant of sorts and founder of the fucking Patriots. Too bad this is the last Metal Gear, cause there's lots of blanks to be filled in."

And then Peace Walker got announced. Well, shit, it's about Big Boss after the events of MGS3. Surely they'll go into Zero's backstory.

But... they kinda didn't. That story took place after Boss and Zero's falling out. After the Patriots were formed. After Les Enfants Terribles. Ok? There's a lot of talk about Zero and what he/Cipher is up to, but we don't actually see the dude. There is no communication between him and Boss... at all.

Then V gets announced. It's a chronological sequel to Peace Walker. Big Boss all up in this bitch. SURELY this time we'll see some of Zero, I thought. How did this dude become worse than Hitler?

But... fucking nothing again! Tons of talk about Cipher and Zero via tapes, of course, but I was baffled watching those credits realizing that Zero was never to be seen in the entire game. I figure the logic behind this is that you don't need to see him, and all of the info gets across via text/dialogue. Kojima obviously wanted to keep the character all secretive and unseen, but I'm not sure if I like that. Instead we just get Ocelot and Miller telling me shit. Cipher this, Major Zero that, on and on...

But yeah, we don't see history's greatest monster basically at all. I'm pretty sure the only time he's animated in the entire fucking saga is at the end of MGS3 for like 5 seconds when Snake gets his title of Big Boss. I find it pretty hard to visualize his entire, crazy, important, series spanning arc from text and dialogue, honestly >_<

it's completely ridiculous and one of the dumber plot points in the series, especially considering the MGS3 crew weren't nearly as involved in the story as radio support characters in the other games

That's reading into it a bit much.

If anything he's thinking "She just risked her life to save a child's necklace, maybe I was too hard on her", or "Wait a second, why haven't we interrogated her yet", or "God dammit, I can't figure out how Code Talker wants his hamburgers".

Definitely. Especially as they mention why Kaz doesn't want a prosthetic. Ocelot says they offered to make him some but he refused, wanting to carry the pain with him.

Does this look like a non parasite infected man to you?

kaz.jpg

He never answers V when he asks what's wrong with his eyes.

Yes. He's blind.

Codetalker is blind too so has milky eyes. Snake is blind in one eye and it is milky. Quiet and Skull Face have the parasites and yet have normal eyes.

as if kojima would actually reference the metal gear msx games beyond the general events.
